Dip pens are hard to use. I am not skilled and I probably shouldn't be doing it in bed anyway.

Are the little skulls candy too, or are they soaps?

trystan830 11-26-2019 10:13 PM

the skulls are candy too! i mixed blue and yellow melts and that was the color green i got :)

so we have a historical site near to me - Pennsbury Manor - the manor house and grounds are kept like they were in colonial times, and one of the fun little things you can do is try to write on paper with a quill and ink.

one of the times friends and i went with my daughters, we all tried the quill pen, and since i've done calligraphy before, i was the only one who could actually write with it! :)

i'm guessing a dip pen would be like the quill?

Mekatra 11-26-2019 10:19 PM

They're adorable!

They're exactly like a quill except they are metal nibs instead of a cut feather shaft. I've done some writing with quills as well. They're a bit of a pain though because you have to keep stopping to sharpen them.

trystan830 11-26-2019 10:38 PM

thanks!

ah, gotcha. i've used metal nibs as well.

Mekatra 11-26-2019 10:40 PM

The only difference between them and a regular fountain pen is that you have to dip it in the ink repeatedly instead of the ink being inside.

trystan830 11-26-2019 10:48 PM

yep, i've used both types of pens then. :)

I was looking up patterns for a woolly mammoth toy, because I wanted to send Laura Bailey a Jester-Mammoth with a tag that said "Fuck it, I'm a MAMMOTH!"
then I forgot why I was wanting a pattern for a mammoth... just remembered why.

trystan830 11-27-2019 01:07 AM

guess you've gone down the pattern clicking rabbit hole on ravelry, and 20 zillion patterns later, you've forgotten what you were looking for in the first place? XD

Den 11-27-2019 05:30 PM

No, I actually forgot why I was looking for a mammoth toy pattern.

Anyway, got the stuff for tomorrow.

trystan830 11-27-2019 05:44 PM

whoops. but good that you remembered :)

Den 11-27-2019 06:25 PM

Yeah. also got a reminder about a game I used to play on my old laptop, so I just installed it. gonna play in a bit.

trystan830 11-27-2019 07:55 PM

oh yaay! have fun! :)

Mekatra 11-27-2019 11:30 PM

I talked a friend into crocheting a kraken hat for me. She says I don't have to pay her if I pay for materials and the pattern, but I kind of am insisting.

trystan830 11-27-2019 11:34 PM

ooh a kraken hat sounds like fun!

Mekatra 11-27-2019 11:36 PM

It's a super cute pattern.

Here's the pattern if you wanna check it out.
