Reminds me of a story my cousin told me. His wife had gotten into an accident and they were getting her a new car. A Lexus. They had just left the dealership and were on the highway back to their house when a big 'ol buck ran out in front of her new car. My cousin was the one driving it home, though.

Anyways, the antlers on it completely shattered the windshield, the front end was all torn up, and the side mirror had been torn off... by the one deer. The highway patrolman who was called out to the scene made sure both my cousin and his wife were okay, then asked what happened to the deer.

Well, my cousin pointed to where it had fallen and was lying on the side of the road. The officer sighed and turned back to his truck. He came back with a shotgun and my cousin asked what he was doing. The officer said he was going to go put the deer out of its misery because the impact had probably left it alive but with severe injuries.

Then, all of a sudden, the deer stood up, stared at them for a moment, and ran off into the woods a little ways away. The officer looked at my cousin and said, "Well, if it's up and moving like that, I think it'll be fine. I'd take a different road next time, though, if I were you."

Deer are really stupid. They think if they stand still they will blend in. Unfortunately they don't. And we can't just go through them.

NikkoGallarado 08-16-2012 12:52 AM

No its the lighting the way it is taken into the brain of the deer, there something in there brain that makes them freeze up when the look at car headlights.
