Hmm...
How about anhedonia?

Gallagher 12-15-2013 02:06 AM

I'm pretty sure most of the snakes were eaten already, actually... hm...

I wonder how well fishboy would heal if he had bits removed.

Lawtan 12-15-2013 02:11 AM

Umm...I made a thing...
(Was thinking about how much people enjoyed it when I told the tale of U'tuln'ta, the Spear-finger)

Gallagher 12-15-2013 02:25 AM

I'm a little confused about how it would work.

Have I mentioned the ridiculous levels my love reaches for this rp universe? Because I already made 2 new OCs for it (fishboy and this bitch) and my brain is telling me that I need another one.

Lawtan 12-15-2013 03:24 AM

I'll see about explaining it better later on.

Espy 12-15-2013 04:27 AM

I've purposefully prevented myself from making more Esch characters, but....uh...

....my imagination tends to run off, and I've already mapped out a decent chunk of Dante's life.

Along with his son's.

Which would be interesting if we ever did a real timeskip and shit happened. Ohhhh boy.

Suzerain of Sheol 12-15-2013 05:07 AM

Why would anyone want to bring a child into this setting? D:

Better do it far from Thyati'ra. Just saying. :P

Espy 12-15-2013 05:11 AM

So uh. "Timeskip" as in, like...fifteen years from now. Zeke would be /seventeen/ by then, so he's not really a child.

Unless you want to go by the definition of "child" being just plain underage. But then again, in this setting, you can't really be underage for long, can you.

Suzerain of Sheol 12-15-2013 05:18 AM

I meant why he would ever have a kid in the first place when the best hope for his child is literally "sheeple slave to Zaccheus in the safety of Thyati'ra". :P

Unplanned I take it?

Espy 12-15-2013 05:32 AM

Unplanned and didn't happen in Thyatria anyhow.

Salone 12-15-2013 06:35 PM

Pro tip: Do NOT allow Lev near children.

Unless you really don't like said children.

Suzerain of Sheol 12-15-2013 06:36 PM

Are we not all children of the wayward flock in the end? :P

My previous statement still stands in this context.

Lawtan 12-15-2013 11:04 PM

Umm...
*Was just thinking of a chemical/magical male assassin whose concoctions go awry due to the chaotic mix of magic and science...

As to explain my thing - I am trying to simulate something like the Dead Poet's Society or the Midnight Society (Are You Afraid of the Dark)

I don't know if you meant for this or not, but that wouldn't really work here since "magic" straight-up overwrites reality and doesn't care about "science" however that would even be defined. To the "magic" in Esch, throwing a rock at someone's head is as much "science" as firing an ICBM to the other side of the world.

On the contrary, the two often complement each other, the most basic being sheathing a weapon in psychic or theurgic shielding preventing an opponent from just magicking it into nonexistence with a wave of their hand and forcing them to actually deal with it as a threat.

Lawtan 12-15-2013 11:34 PM

...was sort of meaning mixing something like "magic residue" with...lithium...
Or some way for him to accidentally turn an enemy demon into a chicken.

Gallagher 12-16-2013 12:06 AM

I think it's impossible to "accidentally" turn a demon into anything. They're kind of, uhm. Yeah. If you're "accidentally" anything, they're out of your league.

Suzerain of Sheol 12-16-2013 12:08 AM

Yeah... even lowercase-d demons (fallen angels) are creatures of spiritual essentia, each possessing powerful theurgy. No one is transmuting them without smashing through their defenses and humiliating them like God did to Satan.

I had a DnD character that accidentally bound herself to an entity (whatever the entities binders use are called. Can't remember). Was rather fun since she was trying to reconcile herself with the disgruntled voice inside her head. I don't think she would have lived long in this setting, though. Even my original Eschaton character would probably be dead by now, possibly killed by some religious fanatic for being an angelic corruption, or eaten by original Na'lsa, possibly for the same reason.

Yes, your thing did remind me of Are You Afraid of the Dark. Couple immediate thoughts on that. One, no way in heck would I be going anywhere near an old foam chair, from a dump, that's been sitting in a damp wood. No chance. And two, 100 years really isn't all that old for a dead tree.

Arikana 12-16-2013 02:38 AM

Okay, I'm back and with time to actively participate again. :D

Anyone wanna catch me up on what I've missed? Over Skype would be best, but here is fine as well.

Suzerain of Sheol 12-16-2013 02:45 AM

I can catch you up, Ari. Tomorrow or sometime after.

Lawtan 12-16-2013 03:30 AM

In truth, I may just come up with characters...
Like a doll possessed by a demon, giving it animate form.

Suzerain of Sheol 12-17-2013 01:44 AM

Do not ask me what just happened. I have no answers.

But I am excited.

And terrified.

Gallagher 12-17-2013 01:46 AM

-VIBRATES WITH EXCITEMENT-

Quiet Man Cometh 12-17-2013 01:55 AM

So...do we loot the body?

Suzerain of Sheol 12-17-2013 02:01 AM

Too soon!

Lawtan 12-17-2013 03:28 AM

Wow...
Kadia would be shocked...but will likely be the first to loot the body...

Suzerain of Sheol 12-17-2013 04:06 AM

This was not planned!

I don't know what we're going to do!

We're all going to die!

Lawtan 12-17-2013 04:19 AM

*Insert mad demi-god character here to save everyone*

Suzerain of Sheol 12-17-2013 04:26 AM

Maybe Zaccheus will show up and explain how it was all a test. :|

Exceptno.

Espy 12-17-2013 06:05 AM

Uh. I. Ummmm.

...That is an interesting...plot twist at 5 am/2am. I don't fully understand Dio's motives behind it.

Gallagher 12-17-2013 06:48 AM

I think the "Heretic" bit summarized his motives pretty well. His life is erasing the threats against humanity at any cost, and Thomas over there not only showed weakness and a lack of faith, but was refusing to even consider fighting this threat, a threat that they walked right into what should be a holy place, where one of the divine artifacts is held.

Thomas has already proved himself a liability with his behavior. He is the one wasting energy on battles better fought another time. He's the one letting our characters do as they please and ruin the order of the mission. He's the one that chose to let the insane join this mission, regardless of the trouble they can, and have, presented.

Everyone is going to be slaughtered because he was weak when it mattered.

...

FUCK I LOVE THIS ROLEPLAY.

Quiet Man Cometh 12-17-2013 08:09 AM

Well, there's my feeble post. Having a hard time writing anything these days and it's exceedingly frustrating.

Lawtan 12-17-2013 04:25 PM

*pats shoulder* I like it - you can read Tarja's character well.

Suzerain of Sheol 12-17-2013 04:33 PM

Agreed, it was fine.

And Galla gave a perfect explanation of why that happened. It essentially illustrates the difference between the two of them and the interpretation of their dogma. Thomas was a control freak clinging to meaning in his life by slavish enforcement of defunct or irrelevant laws; Diogenes' only concern is the destruction of Hellspawn and the continued safety of humanity.

All the antics up to this point were distractions to the mission and signs that Thomas was unfit to lead, this was merely the culmination of that. He was weakened to the point where Diogenes could kill him; Diogenes gave him the opportunity to prove himself, and he failed. Thus, what happened.

Now we need Salone to come up with a genius plan to preserve the status quo here and let us finish the mission together. Perhaps indicating that without the priest, we'll be nearly helpless against what lurks ahead? Maybe Na'lsa even knows who's down here...

Salone 12-17-2013 08:06 PM

Will post as soon as I get home. Trying to finish up a deal on a truck and then I'm out of the office.

Suzerain of Sheol 12-17-2013 08:30 PM

There's a man dead, and you're concerned about truck deals!?

Looking forward to it. :P

Sounds good. Shall I poke you on Skype when it's "sometime later"?

Suzerain of Sheol 12-18-2013 12:58 AM

Generally if it's any time before 4 in the morning, go ahead.

Arikana 12-18-2013 01:05 AM

Before four in the morning? That's when I /usually/ sleep. o3o
(So basically as long as your Skype status is green?)

Also, in your signature at the end of the second stanza in your makeshift Christmas song is it supposed to say "...killing to town!" instead of "...killing the town!"? o3o (Sorry, I just can't help but notice tiny details that stick out. >_<)
