Have you watched Legend of the Seeker? Craig Horner, the guy who plays Ash, is the main character in it and though I didn't like H2O after the first couple of episodes I loved Seeker.

Medival Fantasy, based on a large set of books but it is only 2 seasons though it was like 48 episodes. If your Mom likes Once upon a time she will like Seeker.
