So, I happened upon the following. This just reinforces my opinion that Evangeline Lily was quite great for this film, and her opportunity to make it better was crushed by the saccharine indulgences of Ms. Boyens.
Behold, the vomitous confession to the motive behind the love-triangle in the Desolation of Smaug. Behold, and despair! The sheer flagrance, the contempt, the disdain for what made Tolkien's stories great that flows from this woman is enough to make my blood boil. http://spinoff.comicbookresources.co...tion-of-smaug/ |

Well, the cartoon was a tad lenient (10 live in cartoon...and I think 7 in the book)

Okay... what part of that romance was not contrived and conventional? Its basic boy meets girl, boy and girl are clearly adversaries and thus by rebellious nature boy and girl are attracted to each other. Any one with a brain can see that this is fantasy Romeo and Juliet. The only thing that excited me was, yes it was cute but it was the girl coming to the guys aide. But you have super Legolas so it diminishes that.

@Lawtan
When I saw Bard....I was like...did he play something in Pirates? Because that is all I could think...and I was like can't be Orlando Bloom's character....he's Legolas right now XD |
Yeah...that was a mystake on my part (thought he did both, but it was a look-alike)
|
im pretty sure he played Aramis in the latest three musketeers movie
|
So to this thread I say this: leave it to HISHE to make the best of a bad movie.
|
*Gives Poggio 10k hugs for that*
Peter Jackson...may I suggest you get HISHE as your writing consultants? |
xD HISHE is the best place to go when you need to laugh. Out of all the videos of theirs I've watched, the Avengers videos, and the Hobbit ones were my favorites xD
The movie itself wasn't so bad... if i force myself to forget that i've read the book then i'm fine =w= |
Me, I'm still seething over Tom Bombadil not being in the Fellowship of the Ring movie as he ought to have been. I no longer have the energy to flail over the rest of the bowdlerizations.
|
Oh, yes. I missed Ol' Tom Bombadil and the barrow-wrights...
