I'm confused. Why does choco have a turkey?

littl3chocobo 11-27-2015 02:15 AM

I noticed, but it took a sec. I was out of the loop for sometime and I'm still seeing things that I had no idea were created. Thought it might have been one of those.

littl3chocobo 11-27-2015 02:24 AM

We did deep fry one, one year. It was good. Kind of scary to cook, though.

Trash can turkey or whatever you call it.

Basically you cook a turkey in a upside down trash can. They cook fast and are very juicy and crispy. But require practice to make.

littl3chocobo 11-27-2015 03:39 AM

sounds dangerous XD and arent trashcans expensive?

Lucid: 11-27-2015 03:56 AM

Not that I know how to cook any sort of meat, but, I can't even figure out how to cook a turkey in an upside down trash can. o.O I'll stick to my crock pot mashed potatoes. Can't mess up a crock pot recipe! Unless you don't start cooking on time. .... >.>;;

littl3chocobo 11-27-2015 04:00 AM

if you can use a crockpot you can cook meat<3 would you like a recipe for pulled beef?

I'm in Canada so mine was last month. We did the usual thing, turkey, potatoes, brussel sprouts, carrots etc, cranberry sauce, gravy, dressing, ginger cookies and butter tarts for dessert.

Ginger cookies and Butter tarts? O.O

Glitch 11-27-2015 02:18 PM

now that my turkey was cooked I like to put the bones in my crocket pot with some water and make turkey stock . . . and then i make that into turkey noodle soup. It's delicious <3

A cousin's recipe for ginger snaps that I can actually make. I usually bring them out around Christmas but thought I'd make them early.

I've heard butter tarts are a Canadian thing. I've also heard American's describe them as like miniature pecan pies. Basically molasses, copious amounts of brown sugar and butter, raisins or what-have-you, and a few other things cooked in tart pastry.

Lawtan 11-27-2015 02:46 PM

Ah, so homemade tarts! Yum!

littl3chocobo 11-27-2015 07:52 PM

would quiet be willing to share a recipe for either? XD i am collecting for a cookbook and right now i have an alaska source, a scotland source and myself hahaha

Quiet Man Cometh 11-27-2015 08:55 PM

The ginger snaps are easy. Off the top of my head; 2 cups flour, 1 cup white sugar, 3/4 cup shortening, 3 tbsp molasses, 1 tsp ginger, 1 tsp cloves, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 egg. Not sure of the amounts though. Roll dough into little balls, rolls balls in white sugar, put on baking tray and cook 15 min or so at I think 375?

The butter tarts are a fair bit more complicated and I've never actually made them myself. They take some effort. Something along the lines of make goo (strong elbow helps because a powered mixer isn't likely to do it), make pastry. Cook pastry cups part way, add goo, cook more.

littl3chocobo 11-27-2015 09:27 PM

haha, well i would be much obliged if you ever felt like pming me the contents of goo XD
