Ecco the Dolphin?

Did you know it's about space aliens and time travel?

littl3chocobo 02-22-2016 09:35 PM

glitch; you are not welcome on the internet anymore. that is highly inappropriate language there

Glitch 02-22-2016 09:46 PM

XDDDDD

I did play as a dolphin!

I was probably like 10 at the time!

I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to do anything other than swim around I think.

I never got anywhere.

littl3chocobo 02-22-2016 09:55 PM

dude, that game was a mess XD it is super odd and the fact that i do not like dolphins did not help, hahaha

Coda 02-22-2016 10:19 PM

I was a little older than that (13, maybe?) and it was on a friend's system. I never got anywhere either. I thought that the game would progress if you found the right place deep underwater, so I was exploring down there, desperately searching bubble to bubble.

Turns out... no, you're actually SUPPOSED to stay on the surface and play around there.

Whoops. I missed the whole game.

Glitch 02-22-2016 10:22 PM

Ah ya I never left the water! Haha

Quiet Man Cometh 02-23-2016 11:59 PM

You were supposed jump really high in the air, then the sky goes skitzo and all your friends get sucked away and the music turns depressing and lonely.

I do remember the alien ship thing, but only because we found the game level code to get to it. We played it on Sega Gensis, but I remember it originally somewhere else.

The earliest computer I actually recall was the Mac, which was roughly the size of 2 Gamecubes, I think, was grey, and had a screen that only covered about half the "box." We would do the tutorial, and play Helicopter or Gunpowder, if I have those names right.

Coda 02-24-2016 12:34 AM

No, it was a Genesis exclusive at first, until it later got ported to handhelds and Windows.

Quiet Man Cometh 02-24-2016 01:58 AM

Ah. Genesis it was then, and probably rented or on a friend's system because I remember having seen it before we found out (used) copy.

Sudden memories of the electronics Aisle is Toys R us with the encased games on the wall, though mostly the Game Gear and Virtual Boy stuff because those were the fancy things at the time.

You're kidding me. So my alien timetraveling dog-squid experiencing an existential crisis inspired apotheosis...isn't original?

And to think, now they have a personal virtual reality system that you can buy as well as a home 3-d printer. My how fast things move in the world in just a short span of time xD.
