I went from 10 am to 3pm with a two hour break at noon for lunch. On Wednesday I took a 3 hour long night class that got canceled half of the time.

Joann's customers aren't weird…. we are quirky. Though the cutting table can get really busy some days.

i resemble that remark too!

and yeah, i could see that too.

I went in yesterday and thee lady at the cutting table looked like she wanted to die. Someone had over 7 different bolts of fabric.

trystan830 10-26-2016 01:02 PM

yikes. that's a little insane. i've had three at the most, i think.

Tiva 10-26-2016 01:03 PM

I had 5 one time, and she looked pissed but really i couldn't do anything but take another ticket which i would have if they had been busy.

trystan830 10-26-2016 01:05 PM

yeah, that makes sense. what were you making?

Tiva 10-26-2016 01:20 PM

Quilt, I had 4 patterns and a solid for the back.

trystan830 10-26-2016 01:25 PM

ah cool.

the three i had was probably for one of the girls' comic con costumes a few years ago... my daughters have decided they like making their costumes. this year they make (are making) a long coat and vest... the older one is Alexander Hamilton, and the younger one is Aaron Burr. XD

Ugh, Trystan I am feeling your struggle so hard.
My manager is always bad with scheduling, he doesn't even post the schedule till super late and then gets mad when everyone is like "wtf, I can't work this day I told you."
Like..just do your job right the first time, dang. How many times do we gotta yell at you before you learn to make the schedules correctly ;u;

trystan830 10-26-2016 01:40 PM

the kicker is it's all computerised. we put in our availability and day off requests in the computer, and all the manager pretty much has to do is set the start and end date, and click 'run' (at least, i'm pretty sure that's how it's set up.) but then she goes and edits and tweaks it.

like for cashiering, i'm sure every time i'm 9-1:30, the number of hours ends up being X (where X is the number of cashiering hours budgeted for the week) minus 1/2 hour, so she gives me that 1/2 hour to make the total number of budgeted hours.

the more i type about this, the more i think i want to stop at joann's on my way home and fill out an application. *sigh*

Pessimisticat 10-26-2016 01:44 PM

Ours is too, but my manager just tends to copy and paste the schedule from the week before and idk how, but manages to ignore everyone's requests.

But, we also have like 15 sales associates who constantly give up their shifts, WHICH DRIVES ME INSANE BECAUSE THEN I GET GUILT TRIPPED INTO COMING INTO WORK ON MY DAYS OFF UGHHHHHHH.

I am so glad I have another job, that I've so far enjoyed working at, and am in a higher position there, so I get more hours and they can't bother me to come in and cover for people last minute anymore.

trystan830 10-26-2016 02:07 PM

yeah, michaels is my second job, but that's only because my main job is only 24 hours a week...

trystan830 10-26-2016 08:21 PM

well, we can dress up provide that it fits dress code, and we have to wear our vest over top of it. and i only work on the weekends, so i don't know if people have been dressing up this week or not.
