Not really. They can bring out the best in one another or the worst. That's why there's so much importance on getting them "balanced" along with sour and bitter elements.

I LOVE pineapple on pizza. It's best with a barbecue sauce instead if a marinara/tomato heavy sauce though. And with banana peppers and onions.

I have tried pineapple on pizza and it wasn't as bad as it might sound. But they usually serve that type of pizza with ham, and I don't like ham all that much.
