D; These threads make me so confused. ;w; Is it sad that I could find things better when they were all in one area instead of organized? lol

Anywho. I need to know if we are allowed to post pictures and make pretty posts or if that is against the rules. :I I personally like posting my picture of my RPC in my post.

I won't play zombies, just so everyone knows. They don't appeal to me at all, besides, I have never even watched movies with them.
-will go backread the middle page to see what else was discussed-

Oh, so my idea was accepted? 8D YAY.
I once had a plot for something similar. Well, Egyptian RP that is, but it was set in alternative past with real magics and stuff, plus "magical creatures".

Well, let's think of some important Egyptain gods: Ra, Osiris, Isis, Ma'at, Anubis, Ptah, Thoth, Amun, Horus, Sobek, Sekhmet, Nekhbet.

What about Obelisk the tormentor!!!? D= Or the winged dragon of ra!?
Oh there not actual gods... Well thats what I get for getting all the egyptian knowledge I know from yu-gi-oh...

Sadrain 07-23-2010 04:09 PM

I was thinking, could it be that the "main playable characters' could be... Maybe High Priests, who were blessed with the powers of their Gods and also some immortality gifts maybe, that have come to think of them equal to the gods and so banished to never dying and living in the purgatory which is the Earth?

johnny 07-23-2010 04:10 PM

I found a site with all the gods:

http://www.egyptianmyths.net/section-deities.htm

It's really hard to figure out which gods are the most powerful/most well known. I think we're going to have to randomize this, but keep it reasonable - like, Ra is unlikely to be earth-bound, etc.

Sei 07-23-2010 04:29 PM

Well, the most mentioned ones are always: Ra, Anubis, Set, Osiris, Isis, Horus.

Rainy, we could be blessed high priests as well.

Sadrain 07-23-2010 04:47 PM

Yes, but then we wouldn't go against the Gods and not get shooked fists at. ^^;

johnny 07-23-2010 05:00 PM

I think we should save the high priests for another time. We can't combine too many different things into this one roleplay.

And Sei, I think those listed gods would be good as antagonists. They're all related, too, I think - like, more immediate family than all the gods (with their wacky inter-familial relations) - so that'd be even better.

Sadrain 07-23-2010 05:35 PM

Well, I was just thinking that the God thing... No one really knows things about the minor gods of Egypt, so it could be troublesome and making new ones up seems a little direspectful, so I thought about replacing them with the priests.

johnny 07-24-2010 11:24 AM

Well, there's always that site I posted. It has all the Egyptian gods, and some of the entries are extremely well-detailed so someone could take, say, what the god/dess is of, what one or two of their story depictions are like, and get a character out of that.

For example, a lesser-known goddess, Buto. If I wanted to make her a character, I could say

She's aggressive, she's protective, and she's violent. I could make her story that she was left on Earth despite being the "Mother of the Gods" and an important figure, and she wants to take down those who had been able to spend their time in the afterlife without her for the last thousands of years. She can be one of those trying to rebel against the new gods, very prone to anger and resentment. She has a combination of contempt for humanity for being the creatures who had worshiped her before but had forgotten about her after time, and respect for them and their ability to persevere.

See? It takes a bit of creativity to turn a list of prescribed attributes into a character, but it's possible.

I can take one of the gods that have even less information about them and try the same thing. I'll use Ihy for this one:

Ihy is the god of jubilation, so he is a happy and youthful character. He's also a musician and lover of music. He's always taken the form of a young human, looking to be between fifteen and eighteen years of age since the end of Ancient Egypt. For a being meant to be all-powerful and wise, he's extremely immature, hyperactive, and irresponsible, which likely irritates whatever group he falls in with. Frankly, while he'd like to be worshiped by many people again, he's perfectly alright spending time on earth because this is where all the music and parties are, and that's really what he lives for.

Sadrain 07-24-2010 11:38 AM

Yes, but not all are that creative. I know I, you, Sei and some others could do it, but regular players... I don't know. Some don't like "preset" characters in general, and others could be fighting over the "epic" positions which would be any God, some are turned away when they see the "epic" positions taken if they peek in the thread at later time.
But then again, it could work. I really am no god of any sort that I can predict future. x3 I just have run all sort of RPs in my time.

Sei 07-24-2010 12:36 PM

Well, we can always start with us and create some templates for the non-creative down the road? :'D

Sadrain 07-24-2010 12:38 PM

Hm, maybe. Well, how do you iamgine the world anyways? Like modern world, or more advanced? less advanced? Advanced and always having magic in public or magic kept as kinda secret?

johnny 07-24-2010 12:41 PM

Well, it should probably be known that Egyptian gods aren't like what westerners think of as "gods". Egyptian gods can die, they're not all-powerful, all-seeing, etc. So, while the gods might have some powers (to be decided later), their only appeal is that they have a connection with the antagonists, which might lead to good drama. They're not exactly "elite" characters, they're just characters that you can google and get a basic idea of their personalities and such, which you can't do with characters you make up yourself.

Sadrain 07-24-2010 12:46 PM

Well, if you think it gain interest big enough (people are lazy, they dislike to do research) without fighting, it could work out. ^^
