Yeah, they introduced the character creator in SC3. Easily my favorite part about the series, even if the fighting was arguably the smoothest in 2.

What do you all think about guest characters? I thought they were way overkill in 4, with like 7 of them, not to mention having Star Wars characters....

Quiet Man Cometh 07-25-2011 11:23 PM

Ah. I see. Didn't know there was a reward for getting all the items. Which version do you play Echo?

I *hate* Tira...one of my friend's favourites that I have a hell of a time trying to block.

@Suzerain, Link didn't really seem to fit with the rest but I still enjoyed using him because he was Link...and Heihachi just seemed silly using fists against all these weapon users. I didn't play the XBox version so I can't comment on Spawn.

Suzerain of Sheol 07-25-2011 11:47 PM

The three of them fit a lot better than Vader and Starkiller and Yoda. It was completely ridiculous. As was having the Death Star randomly pop up for duels between the Soul fighters.

Serra Britt 07-25-2011 11:56 PM

Battle on the Deathstar...in a medieval setting like Soul Calibur...yea I'd have to agree that doesn't fit at all.

I'm really curious to see all the new characters their adding to SC5. They're getting rid of half the cast and bringing in 17 new characters. I'll dig up pics of the new ones they've released so far later.

I believe, so far, Mitsurugi, Zasalamel, Talim and Ivy have been confirmed to return, along with Siegfried and Nightmare.

Definitely not returning are Cassandra, Sophitia, and Taki, since they have replacements who fight in a similar style, namely Sophitia's two kids, and Taki's apprentice (who is blonde, for some reason).

I only have the 4th one and I love her first outfit, and I play it in OVA (Japanese) so her voice isn't freaking annoying >_0

I don't think Tira is coming back in 5. At least, nothing's been mentioned, and she's not all that important to the plot.

What I DO hope they do is make all of the cut characters' fighting styles into Create-a-Soul styles. And not as DLC, either!

Echo-chan713 07-26-2011 11:33 AM

Nightmare killed her permanently

Suzerain of Sheol 07-26-2011 12:14 PM

That would depend on which ending, if any of them, from SC4 is canon. They might make up a new ending to follow off of. I can't remember what they did for the other games.

Echo-chan713 07-26-2011 01:36 PM

I wouldn't know

Quiet Man Cometh 07-26-2011 05:56 PM

Something tells me there would be a massive fan uprising if Siefreid were to be cut out. He appears in most or all the editions, doesn't he? Doesn't he have somem connection with Nightmare?

Suzerain of Sheol 07-26-2011 06:06 PM

I believe he's been in all of them (though he was just an alt. costume for Nightmare in SC2). He was Nightmare for a while. Nightmare used to just be Soul Edge possessing Siegfried's body, but eventually he was exorcised by the Soul Calibur, leaving Nightmare just an animate suit of armor powered by Soul Edge. In 4, Siegfried became bonded with Soul Calibur in the same way.

It appears that he isn't anymore, though, since he's lost his ice armor in 5.

Tarrek 07-26-2011 06:55 PM

I can't speak of each game individually. It's been too lobng since I've played them. I will say that Nightmare is my favorite character.
Also, I don't remember which one it was in, I think 2, but there was a mode that was like an rts type thing where your characters ran around and took towers and stuff. I loved that mode.

Suzerain of Sheol 07-26-2011 07:00 PM

That was Chronicles of the Sword in SC3. A lot of people have been clamoring for its return in SC5, so let's keep our fingers crossed. That was the best thing to ever happen to the series (well, that, and create-a-soul.)

Tarrek 07-26-2011 07:08 PM

All that I really want is a create-a-soul where what you look like doesn't influence your fighting ability. Maybe they could make stats and such a separite section.
