Nothing on the web is 100% secure. Even though the PSN was hacked, it won't keep me from enjoying the Playstation 3.

Ae86 11-10-2011 12:56 AM

I am with Ps3 all the way. BUT! there are some games I do enjoy on a 360. My friends have 360's so i get to play it often.
But from what I notice. (And this is just me)
PS3 is more of a single player/ campaign console. PS3 powers in graphics like a mofo. 360 is better with online play, hence having to pay the monthly fee, so less lag. So i mean it all really depends on what you wanna do.. If your wanting to play mostly online. Then probably go 360. But if you wanna do more offline and campaign than definitively go ps3.

But yeah i chose to buy a ps3. I have always loved the sony consoles so.. And they do decent online play, but if you have a bad host than its laggier than hell. anyways hope it helps!

Yokuutsu 11-10-2011 12:58 AM

360.

It has backwards capability (more so than the PS3) where the PS3 doesn't. And most games I've found good are on both consoles so on that end it doesn't matter.

Also, the 360 is much cheaper. Sure internet play isn't free, but if you don't do that...they you're good.

The backwards capability is why I won't get the PS3. It's not worth it for me. I wasted all that money on ps1 and 2 games that I can't play (ps2 was stolen) and to play them I'd have to find a ps2. No. They want me to move to the new gen....backwards....capability.

Ishu 11-10-2011 02:27 PM

Apparently, you don't have to pay to play online on the PS3.

In the long run, these are things you should think about:

PS3
  • You don't have to pay to play online.
  • Trophies don't sound all that great.
  • It has more RPG games than the xbox 360- BUT it is NOT backwards compatible with PS2/1 games. (I have a PS2 and I'm more than happy with it)
  • The PS3 online system was hacked recently. Many users had their information stolen and, quite possibly, their identities altogether.
  • The PS3 was meant to last longer as a stand alone system- so it will be a while before another PS is made.

Xbox360
  • You have to pay to play online.
  • Achievements seem more personally fulfilling than trophies.
  • The xbox360 has a large range of games- more games than the PS3 has. The xbox30 is also backwards compatible.
  • Since XboxLive is run by Microsoft, the only person who could hack them would be... Bill Gates.
  • The Xbox 360 will have difficulty running certain games- newer games- that will be coming out.
  • There is a NEW xbox coming out that will surpass the running capabilities of the PS3.

Basically

If you DO NOT plan to use your information to buy stuff off of the system and you only want to play some under-appreciated RPGS, get the PS3.

If you DO plan to buy merchandise off of the system and it's provider, go Xbox360 all the way. Plus, with the new system coming out, yu could always buy a crummy xbox360 and just mess with it to see if you like it instead of wasting monies on a PS3 and, possibly, figuring out you don't like it much.

Serra Britt 11-10-2011 02:35 PM

One thing, the PS3 does play PS1 games, unless they changed something recently. Mine does.

Ishu 11-10-2011 02:37 PM

Oh, yes, I think you have to download them though. :/

Serra Britt 11-10-2011 02:44 PM

I just put my discs in and play them, and use the hard drive to save with a virtual memory card.

Ishu 11-10-2011 02:52 PM

Ah, the hard drive. So it's possible it's just a bit inconvenient. I prefer the memory cards fro the olden says. ^^

Serra Britt 11-10-2011 02:55 PM

Yea, I don't have any way to transfer the files from my memory cards to the PS3 hard drive, which is sad. So I do have to start over on everything pretty much.

Suzerain of Sheol 11-10-2011 03:05 PM

I'll just mention that I have never been able to get an original XBOX game to work on my 360. I think it may be because I can't get online with it to update. The router is something to keep in mind when comparing prices for the consoles, too.

I still have my original backwards-compatible PS3 around (blow-dryer fix for the win!) but even though it *could* run PS2 games, I found that a lot of them didn't run very well. I usually just my PS2.

Yokuutsu 11-10-2011 04:12 PM

@Serra Britt

I think they removed most backward capability with ps1 games due to it making the system cheaper.

But I had a lot more ps2 games. So it's disappointing when they don't have backwards capability with the previous gen >_<

Obbiesan 11-10-2011 04:14 PM

Yes both systems gave up on back words comparability after about a year of the systems being out

Yokuutsu 11-10-2011 04:21 PM

So Sony Playstation? Lost a loyal customer. If they had kept the backwards capability....I would've bought one. But they didn't so I went to the 360 since both got the games I wanted. 360 was cheaper and I didn't care what it had backward capability because I never had the original.

PS3 cost more...and I wouldn't be able to play my old games on it, so no.

Obbiesan 11-10-2011 04:26 PM

yea same here i mean i do want a ps3 for alike oh 4 games but i can stick with my psp cause they released the older final fantasy games recently for download for like 10 bucks and you can play them on the psp
