I think there is a pattern, but there never seems to be a way to gain much more than a gem in the marketplace.

The marketplace will give out water and rations directly, as well as aurum; it has exactly one path that can give you a ruby. The maze will give out items that can be traded for water and rations, but no currency.

If it gives out aurum, will it also give out runes like the previous event's mini-game did?

No, no runes this time.

I never got any runes from the previous event game. :(. In a way I'd rather not see them in random prize games. Runes are special. ;)

I never got any in last event's mini-game either, but I wouldn't mind seeing them because I can't afford to donate right now since Trisphee doesn't have a mail-in donation option. >w>

Yeah death by maze is the most common for me.
