Well Mizzy's the one that brought that up...right now I'm just aiming for getting good enough to enter item contests...

I did have a random question...which direction is the light based with Tris items???

Gallagher 07-15-2012 05:47 PM

Generally, the top, far corner (far being the avi's right). This is pretty standard positioning for a lot of people. It can be kind of hard to see on some items.

Kali_Namir 07-15-2012 05:49 PM

Interesting...I wish I could do the pixel class...or at minimum sit in on it...but Oh wells...lols...

Gallagher 07-15-2012 05:51 PM

Fen does shading so fast, you might miss it even if you are watching.

Kali_Namir 07-15-2012 05:52 PM

Yeah I noticed last time I watched the live stream...

Gallagher 07-15-2012 05:54 PM

She's pretty much always quick as anything. Even when she's kind of distracted. It's amazing.

Kali_Namir 07-15-2012 05:55 PM

I will never be that good...although that would be really awesome if I were...

I'm really glad the lovely Twiggy is gonna help me some...she's working on a tutorial type thing to help me with shading and the such!

Gallagher 07-15-2012 05:59 PM

I hope that she just so happens to use what she's supposed to be pixeling for me as examples.

... Because that would mean it's actually getting done.

...... Not that I would ever rush her... Nooo, of course not.

Galla explained pillow shading beautifully, and yes you can. Using a website called Iaza.

You upload the image and you can use a whole slew of features to edit it, even animate it. One of them is transparency.

http://www.iaza.com ;)

And Galla, you flatter me. ^///^

EDIT: And lmao, Gallaface. Of course I can use Pres to make the example. ;P

ALSO!

"You really can't be afraid of going bold and using many tones to get the effect you need." <--- YES. YES YES YES.
Honestly, one of the BEST ways to learn and develop your own style is to go nuts and experiment.

Kali_Namir 07-15-2012 07:04 PM

Lols!

I really am excited to learn. I just don't really know entirely what I'm doing which is the bad part...

Espy 07-15-2012 07:58 PM

o.O; I always put the lighting on my right...

Gallagher 07-15-2012 09:16 PM

-snickers- Looks like I give better advice than I realize.

I... enjoy playing with shadows, I have to admit. I place them wherever I feel is appropriate for the drawing, and just do my best to get it right. I'm not so good at remembering little details like reflective light and such, but I love dipping into varying hues to add depth.

Kali_Namir 07-15-2012 09:20 PM

*Wants to see some Galla examples of shading*

Gallagher 07-15-2012 09:39 PM

... Uh...

Oh boy...

Excuse my inability to find anything recent...
And random ass...

x o x o

I know I'm not the only one that dislikes going through old art...
Kali has seen some of my art before though...

Kali_Namir 07-15-2012 11:36 PM

Well yeah...but you can't hate me for wanting so sees more of your arts...*is a fan*

Gallagher 07-15-2012 11:50 PM

Eh heh... I'm not sure I see why, but thanks...
