It's not as depressing as one might think. It's for college, I'm in my 5th and final year. But it's a focus on the lack of homecoming and that even some of the veterans when they returned were against the war.

Kali, that sounds like an impressive topic. I'm sure it was very hard on them. I have been acquainted with a few Vietnam vets. Actually some were weird but they were in a VA psych ward so I am sure that is why. PTSD is a huge disorder among them as with all vets though it was known by other names and euphemisms.

It wasn't too bad since the topic was more about the homecomings and what they did afterwards.

@ Kali - Rolling Thunder, cool item, maybe that should be my first quest item. I do understand getting bored of an avi but since it takes me so long to make them I usually keep them a while. Though I guess I don't need to be attached or anything. I suppose what it is is that I only have so many items, hence only so many themes, so I cannot be as versatile as I would like. As we go along here and I get more monthlies I'll have a larger range and maybe experiment more often.

It's not really the items that make the avie, it's how the avie uses the items.

It's really all in how you use the pose and the way you see it being used.

@Uma: I believe someone was selling their Trisphee birthday stuff and I got the noisemaker from them. I've always wanted to use it, but I never have been able to find some good items for it. I guess it's because I'm more fond of fantasy-based clothes and what-not? I dunno, honestly.

@Kali: I agree with you on how things can be seen when you mess around with layering and whatever. Sometimes for me, however, there are ideas I have, but because of how an item is made, the layering just doesn't work. I wish I could show an example, but it's kinda hard to see.

I totally understand actually. I was trying to make something work once and had the layering worked, it would have been PERFECT...but the items wouldn't layer right...

I'm actually about to tweak this avie...let me know what you think...

It's just the addition f the poof skirt. I'm not sure if it makes it look more autumn fairy princes or just silly.

Hm... it would be alright if the poof skirt had that blending effect so that it would blend in with the dress you have and it would look nice. Since that's not the case...

If it was a little less poofy, it could work. Right now, to me, it looks a little off.

Jellyfisher is jellyfish themed. Since one of the backgrounds have jellyfishes on them and the dress and all strands and belt have that feel about them.
As for the other two... Enki is a ancient Sumerian god whose symbols were goat and fish, later combined in a Capricorn. And that item is Capricorn themed.

And Solukino I honestly don't have an idea for.

Yes, I was born on 28th December. :) XD Same as my 1st name day (For those who don't know: it's a tradition in my country where all sort of people names are attached to calendar dates, when the day with your name comes, you celebrate it like small birthday. There is also a day for all the names that are not written in the calendar).

And I think this is first one to be directly based of Zodiac sign. I am a weird Capricorn anyways, they are often showed as too focused, materialistic signs that never back off when they have goals... Maybe it could be true, I just have hard time finding a goal I believe I can achieve. ;>.>

I don't believe too much in astrological thing, but it's sometimes interesting, and I generally like the idea behind my sign. A mountain goat with fish tail that lives in mountain lake? Awesome! xD

Heh, you are right, that is a very interesting zodiac sign, I did not know about that. I know more about tarot than astrology, but I know too that they are intertwined in some systems. And I never heard of a 2nd name day. Do people sort of only use the 365 names? And what about poor leap year name? That must be a special name.

Actually, there are lot of words attached to one day usually, and like I said, when there are names that aren't in Calendar, they celebrate their name day on one joined day for all names that aren't in calendar. I got 2 names because I was born on the day my chosen name day was on. xD So, parents decided it wouldn't be 'fair' to have all celebrations together and gave my other name.

So i was wondering, how do you guys go about making your avatars? like, do you decided on one items to use, then build around that,or pick a theme and build to that?

Well, personally, I usually get an inspiration, if I am not making an avatar based on new monthly items as I like to do. Often, they are for events or contests. Or I am just challenging my self to try something new, like use an item/pose I haven't used before. Or I am just random and start from somewhere and it ends up like something. xD Most of the time, I have basic idea of what I want to portray, though - spirit, ball dancer, shapeshifter, mage, etc...

certainly different from me then. I tend to shuffle through my i haven't used much, then build around that one item.

That's a way for me, too, as I mentioned. :) It's my mini personal challenge then.
