I essentially want to make a malibou cake (like the drink) as I've come across a load of coconut in the cupboard and we have rum flavouring... But I'm unsure of quantities at the moment without it becoming really dry...

Mmm... They sound delicious KH <3

Lawtan 10-24-2014 10:34 AM

I had 5 oz marinara and a handful of crackers for dinner, last night <.<

KHPotion98 10-24-2014 10:36 AM

I had crackers also! But with homemade soup..it was cold last night and we got lazy to cook a 'big' meal so we went simple.

I can eat saltine crackers all day. x_x

Lawtan 10-24-2014 10:43 AM

As a side note, the Library has recipes on the first page (along with over 400 sources for study/research/writing/curiosity)

Pyrokat23 10-24-2014 11:06 AM

I don't know that cake but it sounds yummy! :)

Witchchylde 10-24-2014 11:29 AM

I read two, maybe three pages of that feedback thread and I couldn't stomach any more of it. Although, I guess I have a responsibility to post feedback of my own, since I did get access to the new site.

Awen - what recipe are you looking for? :) I love baking. Have lots of cake recipes. :)

I love baking, too! :)

This weekend I intend to take Dan's mother's Jewish apple cake recipe, except with diced apples, baked in a donut pan.

I am hopeful my experiment will turn out well. Otherwise that's a waste of good Jewish apple cake. But it should be fun!

Awen Moonshine 10-24-2014 11:31 AM

Ooooh, a library with recipes! I must go and investigate ^_^ <3

It's based on an alcoholic drink that is basically coconut rum, the cake I want to make ^_^;;

We had a beef stew yesterday and again today ^_^ Having a slow cooker is good at taking the hard work out of cooking when pressed for time ^_^

KHPotion98 10-24-2014 11:34 AM

Leftovers are great, as long as there prepared properly.

@Witchy
Yeah I've stopped reading it since this morning. And I don't need to say anything about it because A)I might say something wrong and get corrected or B)It's already been said.

Awen Moonshine 10-24-2014 12:38 PM

I'm sticking to only looking at the notifications page pretty much as I don't think I can deal with much more angst... I just hope that Brint actually listens to what us users have been saying and does something positive with it...

trystan830 10-24-2014 01:03 PM

i'm still reading my threads over on Uni - same old, same old.

from a few pages back, i'm on DragonCave, Magistream, UniCreatures, UniFaction... and now here. =D

Demonskid 10-24-2014 03:37 PM

xD All of those a virtual pet sites except this one!

Yeladim 10-24-2014 03:44 PM

Witchy, I think you have it wrong. Brint isn't looking for feedback about Uni6. He started that thread looking for feedback if the users wanted to move or not. It is all very passive/aggressive. There ARE some very good posts and ideas there though, none of which I would expect to be implemented.

I got my pink hair and I'm happy

Hello, everyone. <.< Wasn't sure if you all would want this thread to yourselves or not.

*Hands out some hot soup and crackers*:s-smile:

Lawtan! *squish hug* They need to know the cool peeps here! *nomma soup*

The whole situation with UF is very upsetting to me. I've made really good friends there, I've gotten my avs the way I like 'em... and now all this drama that could've been avoided with a bit of common sense...

Tam I am 10-24-2014 04:18 PM

*nod* Friends are good, and the dolls are important. *big hug*

Ultimately, it's an issue of business plans.

Brint believes he'll make a lot of money with Unifacetweet Factionbookr, by imitating them, and trying to mold UniFactions into some sort of superconglomerate social media site.

Good business policy states that once you have established yourself in a market (in this case, the UniFactions community), you maintain and build upon that market, adding features in the same vein, making changes to enhance the experience of THAT consumer base or else minor tweaks to add appeal to other markets while maintaining your original one.

He believes he can magically keep what he has now by drastically changing everything, but that would be like Wal-Mart suddenly deciding to compete with Saks 5th Avenue. It's a different market, and the people who want what's at one will not want what's in the other.

If he kept UniFaction's functionality as-is and just added one of his new ideas, like a twitter-esque feed or something, he probably would have gotten away with it. As must as the UniFactions community dislikes social media as a whole, I could see a single feature being adopted by the community, tentatively at first but more quickly as others grew to appreciate it, and pretty soon we'd have Ninja giveaways in the feed and probably a nice market going to buy and sell the box-of-the-month.

Slow changes, one at a time, and he may have succeeded in his plans while still maintaining the community. But this? It's probably a great social media site, but where'd UniFactions go?
And this is why his site is not as successful as it could be - because he doesn't value what he already has.

I don't want to harp on this though. That's my thoughts, and the things that he'll never see because he doesn't want to see anything other than his own decisions.
And with that, I will say no more about it.

This forum, on the other hand, looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. :p-grin:

Pyrokat23 10-24-2014 04:36 PM

Brint has this idea that everyone loves what he does and that he is god of everything amazing.

What he is is a Narcissist, first and foremost.

But that IS what is really missing, common sense. I say a lot, common sense isn't very common and this whole mess just proves my point, at least on one corner of the globe.

And Solar, you have it right too. You build on an idea not try to reform it. Brint never participates in what the community does and so therefore, he doesn't know the community. That is why he is continually surprised by it's reactions.

As for his losses, I call BS. I'm sure those losses include all his broken side projects such as Project Starborn, which are separate from UF.

Demonskid 10-24-2014 04:40 PM

Yeladim joined trisphee?! 8D HIIII -hugs-

Pyrokat23 10-24-2014 04:41 PM

Yeladim - I'm 99% sure that he took the funds and profits from UC and UF to FUND those failed projects - which is why he is in over his head in debt. >.>

Espy 10-24-2014 04:41 PM

Wait, so, what exactly is going on over at UF?

Pyrokat23 10-24-2014 04:44 PM

Ya ever hear of the great Chicago fire?

Yeah. That. XD

The whole LISTEN TO YOUR COMMUNITY AND PARTICIPATE thing is the common sense bit I was meaning... I was an admin/owner of a forum for about six months before it died due to nobody coming on and posting, but I at least tried to keep up and tried to find out what everyone was agreeable to in terms of upgrades and whatnot...

Imagine that the owner of this site decided that instead of being what Trisphee is, instead it was going to be some sort of Frankenstein's Monster Hybrid of Twitter/Facebook/Tumblr and any other successful social media site.
Then imagine that when the forum community was finally shown the final product (because the whole thing was a 'secret' but "You're gonna love it!") and protested that the change wasn't supporting what the site currently IS, the owner announced surprise at the feedback and lashed back with threats ("Then you can stay here but we WON'T be updating this site, and I'll shut it down if it stops making me money!"), pity parties ("I'm $20k in debt!"), and a general refusal to acknowledge the core issue of the problem.

THAT is what's going on at UF.

Ginger 10-24-2014 05:26 PM

This is so awesome of you, DK! Squeeee! *hugs*

Awen Moonshine 10-24-2014 06:08 PM

It is basically a train wreck the new version of UF that he's created... It's such a shame... :(

Yeah, I sent out a message about our refuge here on UF so hopefully some more people will transfer over to here ^_^ It's how Yeladim came to join us ^_^

*blush*

Don't know how much time I'll be able to devote over here, that is, unless UF implodes, but it's nice to be somewhere else also.

Lawtan 10-24-2014 06:16 PM

Hmm...
*Takes notes of what happens with Gaia and UF for future reference*

It seems to be a common problem of disconnecting from your community... (In gaming, and politics as well)

Awen Moonshine 10-24-2014 06:37 PM

At least you know quite a few of us are here and that we will always be happy to see you Yeladim <3

I have a gaia account still but I never use it anymore... They just seem to be trying to rinse money out of everyone on there... I only visited to play with my fish tank in the end...

THAT is what's going on at UF.

And that's really dumb. The way he's putting it, UF would be a one-way service, not a mutual service like avatar sites and forums should be.

Ginger 10-24-2014 06:59 PM

I agree, that is a pretty crappy situation. These sites are donation-based. Donations help to keep these sites running, and helps to add new features. It shouldn't be about profiting immensely, but enough to keep the site running and to disperse payment agreements among staff members.

Tam I am 10-24-2014 07:10 PM

He said he was making a new Unicreatures game awhile back. Anybody remember that thing? "I'll bring in some of your pets, after everything's running!" And the pets never showed up, and the game went flush.

I'd be surprised at how he's acting, but I was on LiveJournal, and I was on Psypets.

Asami 10-24-2014 09:29 PM

How many people from uni transfered over here o.o

yeah, that might be about right....

with me and the Uni sites - well, any site really - i'll try the new site(s) and if i like 'em, i like 'em. if not, i just won't log in anymore.

KHPotion98 10-25-2014 05:37 AM

Yeah thanks to Awen more users joined.
:)

I might post something later about Tris, I just don't want to make it seem like I'm forcing them to.

Awen Moonshine 10-25-2014 06:15 AM

I know that feeling KH, hence why I posted about it the way I did ^_^ Then it's up to my friends on Uni if they want to join ^_^

withoutwords 10-25-2014 01:26 PM

*crashlands into the thread*

You can add one more to the number of Uni refugees. This site seems cute so far. Reminds me of Menewsha in a lot of ways. How is everyone?
