Bonk. Tiva gets a coin for the third post on page 6.

MonBon 08-07-2017 01:54 PM

SparX 08-07-2017 02:38 PM

Such a violent bonk!

Kaderin Triste 08-07-2017 04:20 PM

Probably shouldn't draw art that kills you, Tiva. Bad plan.
XD

Serra Britt 08-07-2017 04:34 PM

Quiet, I think it's great!

Also I love Krita for everything but text XD

Pessimisticat 08-07-2017 06:03 PM

I am going to do this once I'm done studying/taking my exam. c:

Here, mdom, since you're making art for everyone ~

Quiet Man Cometh 08-07-2017 09:56 PM

Time to art the kitties!

Wish me luck here. I'm uncertain about straight lines so we'll see what happens.

Kaderin Triste 08-07-2017 10:00 PM

Yay! Kitties!
OwO

mdom 08-07-2017 10:01 PM

Espy 08-08-2017 12:44 AM

Ooh. That's really pretty.

Quiet Man Cometh 08-08-2017 04:16 AM

I has kitty art!

Shaky hands again means slightly stylized kitty art. This will just be my thing now. It's relaxing to do though. I'm basically just putting the pen down and following it around the canvas in a sort of shape and texture.

Serra Britt 08-08-2017 10:18 AM

I really like the way they look, Quiet :)

Don't worry too much about shaky lines, once you get used to it the stability gets better. There's also some options to increase "smoothness" in Krita as well. I believe it's the tools tab near the layer and brush selectors.

Espy 08-08-2017 12:34 PM

I have a, um, copy of SAI if you want.

Kaderin Triste 08-08-2017 12:44 PM

My kitties look so cute! Thanks, Quiet! I love it!!!

mdom 08-08-2017 12:46 PM

They look pretty cool, QMC!

Serra Britt 08-08-2017 07:11 PM

Espy, I tried Sai. I adored the linework tools but I hated pretty much everything else >_> Plus, my copy one day started crashing every time I went to save something, and I decided that might mean it wasn't for me XD

mdom 08-08-2017 09:47 PM

Furry art today -> http://i.imgur.com/l2JptYI.png

The pen makes it worse yeah, but I legit just have shaky hands. I wanted to cry when I tried drawing again after my transplant and couldn't draw a smooth line to save my life. It's worse some days than others, depends on how much I've already done that day. It's a side effect of one of the pills I take. People often ask if I'm nervous because my of my hands trembling. I've just shifted my art style now to more abstract and brush work over lines, unless those lines are fast or very short.

SparX 08-09-2017 10:06 AM

I'm excited. tonight I have to edit some stuff for work art wise, so after that I can doodle some nudies =D

Fast, short lines is the only real way I get non shaky lines as well. Anything else, I generally have to use art tools to clean up XD

Adjusting styles to fit within your current situation is fine though. And I really think the stuff you've put up is great ^_^

Espy 08-10-2017 01:14 AM

People are generally pretty surprised when they learn I have relatively unsteady hands. But then again, I'd /love/ to have nice, clean lines and sketches. Unfortunately, that just doesn't really happen.

XoGizmooX 08-10-2017 01:17 AM

Such pretty art y'all :)

Quiet Man Cometh 08-10-2017 04:54 AM

Thanks!

I've learned the more I draw in one sitting, the less shaky my hands get, I guess because they get used to the motions, so I often end up with garbage for the first few lines (or first many lines depending on the day) but eventually I can get to something I feel I can work with. I use very soft lines at first so I can erase easily and then go over them with more pressure once I'm happy with how they are starting to look.

I'm beginning to think that the less refined art styles like impressionism or abstract stuff is more my natural style, or at least it feels that way. Lately I've taken to painting with my hands and have found it great fun, and it feels more "arty" somehow. It started because I had a 12x12 canvas and the largest brush (from the dollar store) was only 3/4 of an inch wide and I didn't want to put up with all the time it would take to get the paint on. Much faster to just dump the stuff on my hands and start smearing. ;)

I think I might try another hand painting tomorrow. I have to make myself do art now because it just doesn't rank all that high in my priorities. I could also bring a couple small blocks to my sister's for my nephews to mess around with. Yay, washable crayola paint!

Espy 08-10-2017 04:57 AM

You ever try using a palette knife?

Quiet Man Cometh 08-10-2017 05:00 AM

No, actually. I like textures and such, but I usually get them with just varying brush strokes or outright bashing the paper. 90% of what I do is usually watercolour, so I haven't experimented much with thicker paints. I play around with dollar store acrylic because it's cheaper and it's pretty thin compared to the professional stuff.

I really would like to get some more proper art instruction one day. I haven't had any since high school, mostly because of the cost.
