shenanigans happen when you rely on the item exchange to get old items bc you feel rude asking for them.
|
What sort of stuff were you lookin' for Barker? :] Maybe I can help? I've gotten plenty of stuff from the item exchange. ^-^; Can this fish lend a fin?
|
nah, man, i don't wanna burden ya.
|
U sure? :[ I don't have a ton, but I got like this Strawberry Betty Skirting I don't need. *munches on a cute orange*
|
you don't have to, flesh person.
|
<x{ Gawhhh! Now I want to because you're just so considerate!
*blows huffy bubbles at Barker* |:[ hmh….very well. I will give you some new stuff I found. -w- |
nah, man. i'm perfectly fine w/ trading stuff in the item exchange.
|
Aww, alrighty. <:] But the gesture was there buck-o. *pats the barker with a silly oven mitt in the shape of a monster claw*
I think it takes a while to get some stuff from it you haven't before, :[ I don't know the rules since I've only been here for a short time. But sometimes if you're lucky, you'll get some interesting stuff. :] *kicks back eating mac n cheese* -H- Have you ever accidentally exchanged an item you didn't mean to before?? oHo |
no, no. i haven't exchanged something that i didn't mean to before.
|
Me neither. ^m^ I was just checking if that's ever happened before heheh! To anybody...not me tho. <~<; That's..that's never happened to me heheh, so crazy right?..*burys face into mac n cheese out of sheer embarrassment*
|
soft honking as i appear and inhale the mac n cheese
|
<x{ Awwhh, I was going to make a cheese dino with that.
/:\ Not really sure how, because mac n cheese is kinda melty and it would just look like a glob of cheesey noodles..*washes face* Anybody watch old cartoons? :c I kind of miss watching Scooby-Doo Where Are You? Oh. xD Haha, just realized the title implies that Scooby is missing, but he's always in every single episode so, lol he's never missing and the series has little to do with him disappearing at all. |
i. actually haven't seen any old cartoons for a while.
i've been meaning to watch Courage the Cowardly Dog. I just haven't gotten around to it. |
:D Ahhhh I loved watching Courage!
*flops feet* My mom and grandma both thought it was way too creepy and disturbing and were kind of worried that I took such a liking to it. x'D Still haven't seen the entire series, although I want to...I too haven't exactly gotten around to it yet. <w<; |
there's a few episodes up on youtube. think you'd have a better time with kimcartoon, though. or dailymotion.
|
Ah yes, protective parents. Reminds me of the time when my mom considered me too young to watch X Files, so I went to the library and got myself the books.
Every. Single. One. |
:D I used to watch the X Files when it ran in the 90s! I was like four or five, xD and I'd sneak out of bed to watch it with my parents haha!
It was then, that they slowly realized, their child was not a normal little bean at all.~ X'D |
I was... huh, 9? 10 maybe? Something along the line. And it really wasn't that scary - it's more of a mystery show than a horror one after all - but she still insisted this is not appropriate material for a kid. Mind you, I learnt to read at age 3, so she knew I was used to material way beyond my age (when you've been reading for three years already, you're not even looking twice at the beginner books suggested for your age where the font is super big, every sentence no longer than four words, and half the nouns are replaced with little pictures to make it easier). But yeah, she didn't want me to watch Jurassic Park in cinema either, because apparently the director back then said in an interview he would not let his own children watch the movie. Which also translated to "definitely not appropriate" in her mind.
Ironically the one person in my family with an actual talent to always come in at the worst possible moment was my grandma. Imagine watching an otherwise completely innocent film with one single scene of shooting, and guess who walks into the living room one second before, just right in time to witness what "brutal stuff" grandpa and me were watching. Even during children's cartoons she would inevitably show up at the exact moment someone gets dynamite shoved into their mouth or an anvil dropped on the head. |
iirc, i remember being told that i was reading way above my grade.
|
Oh man, I read way above my grade level in grade school. I'm one of those students who was really gifted as a kid and then failed in college.
|
let's high five, espy
|
yeah. i hate. i hate that i was considered a gifted kid. because then it caused me to get passed over for mental shit and i ended up spiraling into getting a school counselor for outbursts of anger and i ended up depressed in secondary.
i might still be depressed nowadays, actually. never really fit in at school, either. the whole schooling system needs to be reworked, honestly. |
I... don’t think I fit well with the US traditional education system. I’ve been stuck in undergrad for seven years.
|
mm.
over in the uk, it's not much better. we have school counselors, but they can only do so much. |
I mean, IMO, my advisor could have /not/ suspended me even after I told her I potentially wouldn’t make it out of suspension alive, but.
|
what the fuck
my advisor was nicer when I told him about my mental health but it would've been nicer if he had like, helped with me research, too |
Yet here I remain.
<And I am apparently a coping method.> |
yikes.
also, Klei removed Warbucks from don't starve, haha. replaced him with a cooler character. |
Yeah, system is broken here too. Not sure if that helps.
Basically if you enjoy to think for yourself instead of regurgitating stupid stuff like a parrot, and - blasphemy! - learning new things is actual fun for you... then nope, prepare to be an outcast during your entire "education" period. My biggest childhood wish was for my family to be rich enough to hire private tutors. And yes, that scored even higher on the list than a visit to Disneyland. Meh, at some point you either start to detach or know how to say Fuck You, World in ten different languages. On the plus side it's always been the strange folks, the unreasonable, the freaks who challenge existing values and invent new things. Guys, I think two hundred years from now students will curse they have to learn all our names in history class. |
I'd. Like to be remembered, you know? But like hell if I'll even be able to code up a game that people enjoy or something.
Aye, sure, they might be able to find my roleplay blogs in lost internet archives and shit, but I'd be a ghost by then. |
mdom, known for loving rainbows too much in avatar sites, started a rebellion
as in people gathered against her to get her banned from all sites due to the eye strain |
Merskelly; forever shall be forgotten...
buuut maybe remembered as the roleplaying addict she was and by the stupidity she shared and the platonic comfort that she offered to all that would give her something shiny?? :D eeeeeeeeeehhhbmlblblblmb? *sinks in pond blowing bubbles* ;w;||| |
Perhaps I will be remembered for instilling an interest in technology and science in little kids, visitors to the museum I used to volunteer at. Perhaps I’m remembered for being one of the few high schoolers who really cared about the elderly at the nursing home next to campus, instead of just seeing it as a mandatory volunteer requirement. But those people will likely pass before me. Or forget.
...Sometimes I have a bit of an existential crisis. Wrong century and all. Need cryostasis. Is that selfish? I don’t want to disappear. |
:] You sure instilled an interest in me just with your avi Espy!
<w<; I broke out my old childhood closet TV with a built in VCR, just so I could watch all my favorite nostalgic movies and videotapes. <3 And not at all selfish..I think. :] I get existential crisiseseses all the time... <-< even though it's an issue...feel like I'm living in the right time, but wrong dimesnion... >-> this one just isn't quite right in the noggin, you know? It's just ridiculous to be forced to live with it. *sips tea, quickly discovering it's just water with a tiny manatee in it* :] ah. It's not ready.. |
I want to become a robot.
|
Being a robot would be so cool. -w- You don't have to eat, or sleep or have organic matter, hence human disease and illness wouldn't be an issue..and robots are allowed to have laser weapons, and built-in cookers, and multiple storage compartments...
Honestly the only drawbacks would be, having to be repaired and maintained...and likely becoming outdated pretty quickly. :/ and maybe lacking a basic understanding empathy for human beings. |
Pfft. Just upload my consciousness into a robot PLEASE. It’s easy to get hardware upgrades.
|
:3 Ooh, also forgot to mention robots always sound cool!
Even the really old ones. ^w^ How cool would it be to have an electronic voice? |
<Gee I wish I had been designed with an ACTUAL VOICE.>
Yeah, well, you don't have the hardware for it. <And whose fault is that?> |
<:[ mmyeah, sorry we couldn't raise the proceeds for a super sweet vocal installation for you Espy. <n< I think you'd sound totally magical with a cool robo voice. ;-;
