GIZZIE!!!
*BIG HUGS* Remember when we first met?? We were on the same team in that mafia game during the Valentines Day event on Mene! I still remember that game lol It was intense!!! |
Isn't it weird how the people we are friends with online seem to drift in and out of our lives and we're always super happy to see them but we're not super concerned when we lose contact with them unless it is super unexpected or something? Like I have friends I will go actual years between talking to and we still will start up a conversation we were having back then just like it never stopped.
|
It's definitely crazy how that happens!
I've been trying to make sure I stay in contact with my friends I've not talked with in a while. I have (had?) a friend I was really close to for a long time. She was very sweet and she even sent me a homemade quilt she made. And a bible. Although I never read it, I thanked her so much. I think she even wrote in the bible, "I love you, Ava". I tried hard to stay in contact with her when she left the forum we were a part of... We communicated through email for a good few months. The last email she sent me, she was telling me that she was having heart issues. She was moving too, so that stress didn't help her heart. I sent like three emails since then. I'm so worried about her. We don't have any mutual friends anymore, since we both left that forum. I worry about her every day. I would hate to think she passed away and I never got to say goodbye. :( TW; sui It's hard to keep in contact with people when they leave a site, or the forms of communication change and change. But I find that usually, when I do write a friend I haven't talked to in a while, they're always happy to talk! And we continue on as though there was never a break :D I'm so happy to see Gizzie again!!! :p-cute: |
Oh yes, I absolutely agree. While I'm still a lot better at keeping in touch with my online friends than real ones (I lost contact almost immediately with my school buddies or the neighbourhood kids when we "grew out of it") I am still missing some very smart and funny people I haven't talked to for years.
But at the same time whenever I happen to meet a former online friend again, it's indeed so much easier to take up the conversations just where we left off. |
Every once in a while I get the urge to play epic mafia again, but it's very short lived since I don't know anyone in that community anymore
|
I really enjoyed the mafia game me and Gizzie were in!
I met a lot of cool people through that game. Unfortunately, it got really intense eventually! Like, we were all taking it super seriously and it was all we all thought about! |
Never played mafia, but I fondly remember a teamwork game where players had to defend themselves against zombie hordes for as long as they could. And I once played some witch hunter game that was pretty similar to mafia. Never been good at that one though - my comrades always chose to burn me at the stake...
|
Aww!
Teamwork is hard! It was like that when we did the mafia game too... It was kinda unfair because the mafia members all knew who the other mafia members were, And the rest of us were in the dark, so all of us turned on each other while the mafia members supported each other... >:T |
That's kind of the point lol
|
Oh yeah the mafia game I remember playing that .... I need to go on Mene and see if I can find Amanee ??? (I can't remember how to spell her ign it's been too long) but we need to bring her here Ava
|
if it's the same blue-loving Amane, she's at pantheononline

Looked at Mene and her last log on was JANUARY :( Guess I'll join pantheononline I'm not there yet |
Or you can tell her Gizzie (Gizzard) lol I got that nickname from her typo ...and Ava miss her and make her join Trisphee:)
|
hahaha not sure how willing she is to join another site(she barely posts at pantheon) but I'll try
|
the avatar site burnout is real
|
Sure is.
I remember I used to be at like 10 different avi sites when I was younger (most of which are already dead by now). Nowadays it's more "yeah, have an account there... not logged in since a year" |
Town of Salem is pretty decent, aside from the rampant assholes in the community. Gamethrowing is against the rules, and they'll still do it for shits and giggles. That, and slurs being chucked around like it's 2010.
Oh, and there's premium stuff, too. |
I never really joined a bunch of different avatar sites.
I usually stuck to one and would put all my focus on that one. Gaiaonline was my first and I stayed very active on there for a good while. Then I joined Ernya, and spent all of my time there... But eventually, I met someone who ran a normal forum (not avatar) and I started frequenting other random forums. I came back to avatar forums when Ernya shut down. I joined Mene, then other friends invited me to other avatar forums so now I'm here! :D I think I belong to three other avatar sites? I tend to try to focus on mostly one at a time though. It's hard enough as it is for me to keep track of all the topics and posts I make on one forum, let alone three others lol |
I have accounts everywhere but I only go on a few really nowadays I go on Cellufun because I miss a few friends there and I hop on Mene to try and see if any of those friends pop up so I can send contact info to them and I sometimes go on Windlyn but mostly I am here or on Party In My Dorm till my 2 friends get their sites running (2 friends are making avi sites) but I have to at least visit a few sites regularly for my good friends since they won't join on ONE SITE TOGETHER
|
I wish all my friends were on one site too! >:T
It's so hard to keep track of everything!! |
Reminds me of the time I had to have ICQ, AIM and Yahoo Messenger installed because my friends could never decide on one common service to use. Trillian was a godsent by then, for letting me log into several services at once.
Nowadays I don't even have WhatsApp. Guess the older I get the less I care to keep up with my social bubble. |
A friend of mine used Trillian to check if her boyfriend was cheating on her by making a new account and flirting with him. She then sent him screenshots of his cheating and made a huge deal about it saying if he ever spoke to her again she would write an article about it in the school newspaper... It was so weirdly petty and teenage drama.
|
Agreed, all sites should become one

I don't even remember the last time I actually logged into another avatar site... I'm not particularly social.

Thankfully when I used AIM, all my friends used it
So I never really explored any other chat systems. The one that I did frequent other than AIM was Myspace. And I kinda miss Myspace to be honest. |
The only avatar sites I frequent now are here and Gaia ;u;
(Oh my Gaia account is here: https://www.gaiaonline.com/profiles/1156457 XD case anyone wants to know) |
I left Gaia with a sour taste. :(
I sometimes wonder if it got any better since the time I left back in 2010. I think even if it did, going back would only remind me of all the asshole trolls I've talked to and would bring up sour memories of roleplaying in the slots machines. |

Ava: no. No it did not. It got sold and the replacement owners became all about the money and the economy tanked. Have trillions of gold and can't buy anything I left in late 13 or early 14 iirc |
i tried to get into gaia, but given that you literally can't change from male / female / animal, it just seems. kinda stupid, y'know?
at least, iirc. idk, maybe there's an item that lets you change. |
I was more bothered by the fact you couldn't get hairstyles as items. Salon just took your money and you had a new cut, but no option to switch back to the old one until you pay again. Of course that was years before they actually had any animals and the only game was fishing.
|
Salon still did that when I left
I thought you could change between animal avi and human avi? Not that I did lol |
I used to love the Gaia fishing game!
I got most of my currency through browsing the fish tanks back in late 2009. It was easy, easy money to browser those fish tanks with loads of fish in them! I think most people didn't even realize that you could earn gold by visiting other people's fish tanks. My favorite memories of Gaia was RPing in the slots machine game. I used to stay up for hours and hours RPing in there! |
