Go right

Death by Mirrors 10-31-2019 06:46 PM

@mdom
You go right for maybe a meter, then the path takes another turn to the right. As you follow it, you eventually end up at a junction where you could either go left or right. Listening carefully you notice a faint hissing sound coming from the left path.

Go right, or go left?

mdom 10-31-2019 06:56 PM

Go right again

Death by Mirrors 10-31-2019 07:29 PM

@mdom
While you would also like to learn yet another baking recipe, there's still time for that later. Right now you got a maze to conquer. Thus you ignore the hissing sounds and move to the right instead. After two meters the path takes a turn to the left. You continue on, and then walk around the corner. There you can't believe your eyes: you discovered the hidden porta potty. Urks, and you can't believe your nose either. What did the last visitor have for lunch? Baked bean omelette with extra asparagus?? Dog food??? Before you throw up, you run back to the maze entrance as fast as you can.

mdom 10-31-2019 07:36 PM

uh is there no free, free path? According to my maze all paths have... something

Major 10-31-2019 11:18 PM

I'm gonna change my color to magenta to match.

I eat the piece of candy corn, headbutt a random corn stalk to test its sturdiness, and proceed to go straight.

At least the germs on the candy corn will give my immune system something else to fight for once. |D

bluebird 10-31-2019 11:53 PM

asklfjs;kjg mdom don't waste your turns on me ðŸ˜*

Merskelly Metalien 11-01-2019 01:02 AM

>n> huuuuhhh?? *examines the footprints and decides it might be best to go straight ahead* >~>; Pretty shady to be leaving behind footprints..

Death by Mirrors 11-01-2019 10:36 AM

@mdom
There is a free, free path. You just haven't found it yet. As you stare back into the maze from the entrance, you realize once more you can pick between the regular straight, left, and hack'n'slash with a machete to carve your own path.

Go straight, or go left?
(also in case there's doubt: I do take note which side you're facing when you walk, so whenever you move back to the entrance instead of forward, your directions are flipped)

@Major
The random corn stalk turns out pretty sturdy and is giving you a slight headache. Barely recalling what you learned years ago in biology class, you start to suspect this is no normal corn maze. Oh. Oh! Maybe it means you entered a parallel universe in which consuming a half eaten candy corn gives you superpowers! You try to walk through a wall, but it fails. Then you attempt to fly, but only manage to reach your average jumping height. Ah well, it was worth a try.
You wander on and follow the straight path over a few serpentine twists and turns until another path forks off to your right.

Continue straight ahead, or go right?

@Merskelly
You decide to ignore the new path and continue straight ahead. After a while your chosen path leads you to the right, then around another corner. You notice a middle aged maths teacher and Den both entangled in corn leaves, while KittyBeary - who must have reached this dead end just a few moments before you - still ponders what to do next.

Help the maths teacher, help Den, free both, or no one?

PLS NO THIS IS HARD ENOUGH

I'll carve my way with a machete straight through

Death by Mirrors 11-01-2019 12:08 PM

@mdom
Being at the entrance of the maze has its advantages... for example the opportunity to restock on tools. A machete seems the right choice, you believe. So you hack at those leaves in your determination to - if you can't find it - create the correct path. Unfortunately the corn stalks prove unnaturally sturdy, and your machete slides off. Since you were swinging it with such a force, you stumble forward into the maze. Might as well continue in that direction. You walk around a corner, and then another one. You wave hello to Major and...

Go straight, or go right?

mdom 11-01-2019 12:15 PM

Go straight

damn u corns u.u

Merskelly Metalien 11-01-2019 01:12 PM

<x} Hehe! Lookit how cute! *plays with Den's minions and in establishing a friendship with them, (and also having a repulsion towards most maths teachers for MAKNG ME WANT TO BURN MY STATISTICS TEXTBOOK!! >8C) ...decides to help Den out of the silly corn entanglement* :]

It's only a couple steps to the left before another path opens up to your right. Who knows what scary things await you there? Snakes, traps and math teachers? Or maybe you will find some hidden Halloween candy? Don't be shy, come on and make your choice.

Continue straight ahead, or go right?

I shudder at the thought of math, but continue on my path going straight.

KittyBeary 11-01-2019 08:20 PM

Help Den (idk who this maths teacher person is :V )

bluebird 11-02-2019 05:01 AM

man what even is this map. i feel like wormholed so hard after taking 2-3 steps XD

>go left

Den 11-02-2019 02:30 PM

One I am freed, I thank everyone who helped me escape the corn, and look to see what my path options are.

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2019 05:06 PM

@mdom
At the beginning you still wonder whether the corn stalks are playing tricks on you, but the longer you walk without interruption, the more you start to believe you're on the right track this time. After a while the path leads you to the left, then around a corner and back to the right. Once more you continue straight ahead, and then the path leads you left again. You stumble across the path and try your best to remember where you are. After a while you reach a junction.

Continue straight, or go right?

@Merskelly
Who needs maths anyway? You bet your old statistics textbook this teacher's students will love yet another break from calculus and algibberish. Den on the other side could really need some help. Because even though the minions work very hard to untangle the leaves, they're small and not very strong. So you gesture them to move aside and tug at the corn stalks. After a few seconds you notice yet another hand grabbing the stalk. You glance sideways and notice KittyBeary. Together you manage to free Den after a short while.

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2019 05:18 PM

@DreadedMartian
Indeed you find one of your worst nightmares: a middle aged maths teacher! Thankfully however he is tied to a corn stalk and so doesn't pose much of a threat. You also meet Merskelly Metalien and KittyBeary here, who are almost finished wrestling with another corn stalk. On second glance you notice Den apparently was tied to another stalk. Who on earth did such a thing?

@KittyBeary
Even after pondering for a while you can't find a logical reason why you should waste your time on freeing a maths teacher you don't even know. For all you know he might be a demon in disguise. Or worse: an actual maths teacher! Therefore you step forward and help to free Den instead. With the combined efforts of Merskelly Metalien and eleven candy corn minions you finally manage to untangle the stalks and leaves that kept Den in place.

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2019 05:33 PM

@bluebird
The maze certainly tries its best to confuse you, but you vaguely recall the entrance must be somewhere to your left. So you murmur "left, left, left" like a mantra and head that way once you reach the junction. You walk on and reach the second one from where it's only a step or two to the entrance. Looking to the right sends shivers down your spine, even though you can't really explain why. Maybe your subconscious is trying to warn you about unspeakable horrors. Looking to the left you see the entrance. This feels much safer.

Go left, or go right?

@Den
Thank heavens for good friends and loyal minions! You're happy to be free once again. The math teacher - still tied up - doesn't seem so polite anymore. His patience clearly wears thin, seeing as no one appears interested to help him. Right now he reminds you of the worst teacher you ever had in school. No way you're letting that guy roam free...

mdom 11-02-2019 06:21 PM

Continue straight

Honestly no idea where I am;;;

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2019 06:25 PM

You're in a corn maze.

mdom 11-02-2019 06:27 PM

THAT WAS SO BAD >:UU

I'll eat the corn leaves with my TEETH after that

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2019 06:28 PM

Funny you mention eating while I'm already writing the next chapter... ^^

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2019 06:52 PM

@everyone

The earth starts to tremble while the math teacher spews some insults no respectable teacher should ever use at the nearby people. However before they get a chance to react at the man's growing rage, a stalk bends forward and gags him with a cob of corn. His eyes widen in panic as the other stalks clutch tighter to his body, slowly dragging him deeper into the maze.

By now you can barely keep your balance. Yet it doesn't feel like a regular earthquake, more like a rhythmic motion. If it wasn't so absurd, you'd even think the corn maze was... chewing?

Ahahaha! Not a sentient being, right!? No way it could...

...no way...

...

Was that a BURP???

All of a sudden the mud calms down again. The corn stalks that captured the teacher spew out a single shoe. Did the maze really...? Den, KittyBeary, Merskelly Metalien and DreadedMartian decide they better don't risk turning into dessert. So they run back to the entrance as fast as they can.
(in case you don't remember, from here you may proceed straight or left)

The maze grants everyone inside 20 tea lights. You are not sure if that's a thank you for the meal, or a sinister scheme to roast you over an open fire. Still, tea lights.

Major 11-02-2019 06:58 PM

@Death by Mirrors: I will go right.

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2019 07:14 PM

@mdom
Straight seemed a great choice before, and so that's the direction you decide to keep. After all you haven't run into any monsters or unpleasant surprises in a while - there merely was this weird earthquake a few minutes ago which made a couple of tea lights fall out of the stalks. Probably caused by someone else setting off a trap. Who knows. Two or three meters later you arrive at yet another forking path.

Continue straight, or go left?

@Major
You go right, and then left, and then around a few corners. On your way you find yet another piece of candy corn. Alas just like the first one this doesn't give you superpowers either. Then you reach the kid spawn point. However since no kid is available at the moment, you discover a lost puppy in a ghost costume.

Take the puppy back to the entrance, or mock its costume?

mdom 11-02-2019 07:36 PM

Continue straight

gonna go head on

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2019 07:45 PM

@mdom
You chew a few more corn leaves and don't allow yourself to get distracted. But you stop right in your track when you hear a piercing scream in front of you. No one comes running for the exit however. Is that a good sign or a bad one? Grabbing yet another corn stalk for safety and a snack, you only feel air. Oh, apparently there's another path to your left right.

Continue straight, or go left right?

mdom 11-02-2019 08:11 PM

Try a left this time

goddamn ghosts!!!

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2019 09:08 PM

Gah, sorry! Why on earth did I type left here? Right. A path to the right. *enters the maze with a giant eraser and a hypnotizing pendulum for mdom* You feel tired. You saw nothing.

Go right... but suspicious

goddamn deja vu ghost!!

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2019 09:28 PM

@mdom
You have all right to be suspicious, because if there's anything worse than getting lost in a maze, it's getting lost in a maze where you can't even rely on proper directions. Those walls aren't moving, are they? You push against a few stalks and heave a sigh of relief when they don't budge at all. As you walk right, you encounter an alien in a blood splattered lab coat. "I saw you conducting physics experiments on that stalk", the alien says. "You're a fellow scientist, aren't you?"

Answer yes, or answer no?

mdom 11-02-2019 09:31 PM

...y-y-yes I am

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2019 09:42 PM

@mdom
The alien appears reasonably excited to finally have found intelligent life on earth. You only understand a small part of the following conversation - or rather monologue - about high tech equipment, quantum physics, and ribbon theory (which apparently takes string theory to a whole other level by tying those strings into a bowknot). Finally the alien waves goodbye and returns to the spaceship without harming you. Your head is still spinning from this encounter, but nevertheless you realize you're standing in a dead end. So you walk back to the last crossroads.

Go left, or go right?

Den 11-02-2019 09:48 PM

After catching my breath from getting HECKIN' SPOOPED, I will go straight.

Death by Mirrors 11-02-2019 09:51 PM

@bluebird
As you walk right, four people come running from that direction. One of them almost knocks you over. Yet since you don't fear a terrible demise, you stroll on. To your surprise you see nothing scary - just a single shoe lying on the ground. Otherwise this is a dead end. You shrug and walk back to the entrance of the corn maze, where you meet those four punks who ran past you a few seconds ago. If you want, you can ask them what happened. Otherwise simply choose a direction to walk back in.

Go straight, or go left?

mdom 11-02-2019 09:57 PM

last crossroads... wait, last time wasn't it straight or right... right got me to the alien and straight was the scream. So now I'm going before that, to when it was straight or left?

bluebird 11-02-2019 10:09 PM

sdfkhlg not even the maze wants to eat me. fine! i guess i'm too powerful huh
