The Crucible by Arthur miller, good book/play even if i have to re read it with the class
|
Factotum by DM Cornish, an Australian author. It's the last of a fantasy trilogy for children, and reminds me a lot of The Golden Compass in its use of steampunk, breadth and richness of setting, and quasi-historical names and slang. I also got a sort of anti-Christian vibe from it, but unlike Phillip Pullman, DM Cornish says on his site that he is a Christian. There's a lot of gore but no sex, as this is a children's series and the protagonist is a little boy.
There's also evidence of the author's being from Australia, as the cold wildernesses are far to the South, the silk empires are to the West and glorious civilizations are in the hot lands to the North...lol. |
Right now I'm reading Fallen. I just finished Hush, Hush. and before that I read Deadly Little Secrets.
They're all really good, but I can't help but notice a theme in the type of books I've been reading lately where there's always at least two hot boys crushing on the girl. x.x' I think I need to break out of this soon... |
I'm reading Extremities by Kathy Koja. It's a book filled with rather disturbing short stories. :3 I have about four or five of them read so far. |
Still trying to finish up The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander (I remember this book being so much more interesting when I was a kid), Magic's Pawn by Mercedes Lackey, and rereading Good Omens and Howl's Moving Castle on and off
|
I'm currently reading Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison. I felt the need to get out of the Young Adult stuff for a bit, even if a lot of it tends to be a brilliant read.
|

It's for my Children's Literature class, and it's a pretty good book. If I could only set aside some time to read more than three pages in a sitting. |

A witches Bible: Need this for the Pagan Blog. |

The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan
I'm taking a break for a moment because I'm studying for exams. And I hate finishing a book in an instant. |
My textbook
|
The Black Prism by Brent Weeks. I've nearly finished, and I can testify to it's awesomeness.
|
A Sicilian Romance - Ann Radcliffe Super <3ing it. |
Deadly Decisions by Kathy Reich. I've only read the first page so far, lol, until Trisphee came along and said, "Post..." |
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Aptly titled, because it's wonderful! :'D
I'm reading it for my Children's Literature class, but I'm probably going to get the whole series from the library. It's fun! |
Right now I am slowly making progress on Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick, the second book after Hush Hush.
|
I've been re-reading the Harry Potter series. Pretty slow going though. My attention span isn't agreeing with me. But I'm on the last chapter of the Goblet of Fire and I will be moving on to the Order of the Phoenix next.
|
Carmilla - Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu.
Apparently predates even Dracula. Woo! |
I'm a little over halfway through "The Gunseller" by Hugh Laurie, and I love it. I'll literally be laughing at something every other line, because it's that full of witty writing, but at the same time it has a good story and good topics for you to really think about.
|
I'm usually reading about a dozen at any given time. Either I get bored with one or misplace the book I'm really on so I switch off now and then. Right now I'm actively reading Ysabel, by G.G.Kay. First book I'm reading of his stuff even though I have several others around the house.
|
Right now, I'm reading Traitor to the Blood by Barb and J.C. Hendee. I've become addicted to their Dhampir series. ♥
I was reading Tower of the Winds in the Seeker series, but the book was misplaced at someone else's house and now I can't get to it. *grumble* I refuse to buy it again... I'm also on-and-off reading a book called Savages. It's interesting. I much prefer the chapters/sections that are centered on the women lost in the jungle, rather than the man trying to deal with the more corporate side of the situation... |
I've been reading Fall of Giants by Ken Follett every chance I could get for the last few days. xD It's really addicting, but I'm almost done with it already. :< Dunno what I'll do after it's done, it's consumed my life lately.
|
Have yet to make any further progress in the books I'm reading. I feel so bad neglecting them! Heading out to the family farm to animal-sit for a couple weeks. Hopefully I can get somewhere. :). I'm bringing Ysabel of course, but possibly a second which means the time consuming decision of which other book to take. I find it always takes me a long time to decide which book I'm going to read next when I finish one. Does anyone else have that particular issue?
