Ducky 01-07-2012 07:09 PM

Going by the times when it is most active, i'm going to go with America/Canada. I plan on going back to America, and hopefully visiting Canada some time soon, so i could do that xD

Lost_Ninja9213 01-07-2012 07:15 PM

well if you ever visit DC ill be around if you need anything XD i pretty much know the area

Ducky 01-07-2012 07:16 PM

I have been there twice in the last two years :P And if my plans to go back to america go through, i'll most likely be somewhere nearby.

Lost_Ninja9213 01-07-2012 07:20 PM

Ducky 01-07-2012 07:26 PM

Lost_Ninja9213 01-07-2012 07:28 PM

i know some people on kofk who live in NZ and theyve talked about their friends being extras in the lotr and hobbit movie XP sooo jealous

Ducky 01-07-2012 07:29 PM

I could have been a Harry Potter extra, but that's not the same.

I hope i can do a proper movie tour if i ever get to NZ

Lost_Ninja9213 01-07-2012 07:36 PM

what. A Harry Potter extra......that would be cool for me XD i like HP too, though not as much

Ducky 01-07-2012 07:37 PM

A lot of the epic scenery shots were filmed where I lived until recently. I now live in the city where the books were written and J K Rowling lives xD

Lost_Ninja9213 01-07-2012 08:02 PM

thats..pretty neat. i love Harry Potter so id be really excited to be anywhere near there XD (edited post because it was emotional and angry blargh nargh XP)

Ducky 01-08-2012 03:04 PM

darn, i missed the emotional angryness D:

Lost_Ninja9213 01-08-2012 03:06 PM

you mentioned where you live, so i ranted about where i live, but i realized it might make some people unhappy, so i removed it XP

Ducky 01-08-2012 03:12 PM

Ah, okay then xP

Lost_Ninja9213 01-08-2012 03:45 PM

i realized last night that my very short siblings would make excellent hobbits XD

Ducky 01-10-2012 05:07 PM

I could be an elf, maybe? Skinny tall and pale xD

Lost_Ninja9213 01-11-2012 12:06 AM

i would be....uhh....a human. or very tall dwarf woman, though no beard XD NOT skinny lol

Ducky 01-11-2012 06:29 PM

Are there even that many humans in the Hobbit movie?

Lost_Ninja9213 01-11-2012 09:29 PM

not really.....theres Bard, and the other people of Laketown i guess....and Beorn isnt really a human is he? does skin-changer count, with human as his usual form?

Alpha 01-13-2012 10:34 AM

It is quite limited as to the number of human characters since it is more about Bilbo......at least from what I remember.

Suzerain of Sheol 01-15-2012 05:31 PM

It's kind of interesting contrasting the Men in the Hobbit to those in LotR. The Dale-men seem very provincial, sort of nestled in their little pocket of safety, living these dull little lives on the river. Then you read LotR and the Silm. and realize how incredibly far humans have fallen in this setting from their Numenorean ancestors (who averaged 7 feet tall, built all those indestructible towers and fortresses, had an army that made Sauron at his height surrender on the spot upon seeing it, and included mechanized battleships in their war arsenal).

Granted, though, the Men of Laketown are not, I believe, descended from the Numenoreans, they're more closely linked to the indigenous tribes of Middle-Earth who thought that the Numenoreans were gods when they first landed in Middle-Earth.

It also has to do with the original nature of the Hobbit as a fairy tale not tied very closely (if at all) to Tolkien's legendarium until later.

Ducky 01-22-2012 01:22 PM

I have just finished re-reading the Hobbit, and Now i can understand a lot of the upsets the trailer has thrown up. But at the same time it has made me all the more exiting.
The battle of the 5 armies has the potential to be truly epic. They better get Beorn right, or I'll be pissed..

Fiyero 01-25-2012 01:09 PM

I'm fairly indifferent to the differences between the book and the movie...
its just..a different interpretation, rather than a re-telling.
Just like how the Harry Potter movies suck dick.

Also, I was in this play in high school.
I was Bombur.
go me

katyasha 02-02-2012 11:36 PM

I can't wait for the movie to come out in December.

Echo-chan713 02-04-2012 04:47 PM

My dad bought me every Christmas another volume to the book that I'm not intrested in reading in the first place.....no offense to anyone in this thread that loves the hobbit

Ducky 02-04-2012 05:09 PM

Not entirely sure how that fits into a Hobbit movie topic, but no offence taken anyway XD
