"What, do I look like I need patching up?! I can walk just fine, damn you!" If he could help it, those gloves were not coming anywhere near him anytime soon. He laughed and pitched his voice up higher. "Of course I'm gonna let some policeman bring me in. Of cooouuuuurse I'm not hung over. Why would you ever think that, huh?" he asked in the best singsong voice he could muster through the pain, then struggled to all fours. Walking wasn't a "problem", oh, no. It was simply impossible. |
He hit the hunk of junk again. Some one in the office made a tsking sound, and Esmun paid them no notice. He was again chided about the stack of paper work and doing it in a timely manner. Slowly, he slid from his seat stretching his body to its full length. Esmun had given up on typing up the parking citations and decided to go on a doughnut and coffee run. His last well of dark brown ammo had run dry after putting the tenth ticket into the system. Luckily for Esmun he was already a regular customer at the coffee shop near the police station.

Roland lit his cigarette and then placed his hands back into his pants pockets. He felt conflicted on his options. He had to take Kyd in or kill him. Though Roland never did like to to do either of those. He sighed and stood in front of Kyd's path. Just out of his reach. "Would make you feel better if I knocked you out? At least then you wont feel bad about not being able to get away."

Kyd glowered. This man...Kyd could kill him. There was one syringe left. Amanitin. The policeman would be awake. He'd know he was dying. The schadenfreude came close to letting Kyd forget about his legs. "When did I ever say I couldn't get away?" He flicked the cap off the syringe and made a crazed lunge for the other man. |
Jubeii watched the drama ensue below with amusement. Kyd had been shot in the leg and thought that he could take Roland down? He couldn't be thinking too clearly if he thought that was possible. Should I interfere or not Jubeii pondered to herself.

Makoto wandered around the main street, looking for a place to lay low. She spotted a coffee shop a few blocks away.
Well, "Kyd" or whatever his name was isn't gonna be going to a coffee shop anytime soon. I might as well hang around here for now. Makoto grinned, and walked into the coffee shop. Kouhii wo hitotsu onegaishimasu (One coffee please). The cashier handed her a cup of coffee. Makoto handed the cashier a few hundred yen, and took her coffee to a table. |
The dark haired youth stood behind Jubeii as he left out a soft sigh. "No, don't do anything yet, just wait it out and see what happens if you really want to we can help him." Vincent said as he walked up next her hands in his pocket watching what was happening. "He still has a way to hold out, besides if something happens to you I don't know how to handle that any how." was an admit Vincent ever did to anyone thus he was admitting to Jubeii he would feel lost with out her.

Jubeii glanced at Vincent surprised at his confession. "Well if you say so we can do that but just so you know, I wouldn't endanger myself when you or anyone else from the Vampire Skulls are with me."
Returning her attention to down below watching Kyd lunge for Roland with a syringe in hand. She had to admit that Kyd was pretty tough to stand up to the pain, but in this case the pain looked like it was making him crazed. |
Roland quickly took his left hand out of his pants pocket to block Kyd's lunge with a syringe. The needle passed through his hand and came out the back of it. The poison shot out from the needle point. Not wanting to give Kyd a chance to use his poison touch on him, Roland jumped back out of Kyd's range with a little extra just in case.
With the needle from the syringe now out of his hand, Roland looked at his hand calmly then inhaled slowly so the tip of his cigarette was red hot. He brought his hand up to the cigarette and burned both sides of his hand where the needle had penetrated to close the wound but to also kill any poison that maybe near it as wll. After words he flexed his hand a few times to make sure everything was still functioning. Roland shook his hand a few times then placed it back into his pants pocket. "That was a bit over dramatic don't you think?" Roland raised up his right leg. "I don't want to kill you but I can't have you trying to poison me again either. So I'm only going to tell you one more time. Put on those gloves." |
There certainly was a motley crew in the coffee shop today. The girl instantly recognized one of her regulars an perked up. She smiled as if she could read his mind already gathering the things he wanted. Esmun let his eyes wonder over the shops inhabitants only to stop on a strangely over armored girl. He did not see a skull insignia. Idly he walked away from the counter trying to inspect her discretely. Once he was close enough he coughed. “Excuse me miss but do you have a license to carry around those bullets?” He gestured at the ones on her vest. Secretly he was excited perhaps he was going to arrest his first gang member instead of simply handing out parking citations.

"I don't see why it's so hard to just let me fucking be." Slowly, he slipped his left hand into a glove, then fumbled around with the right, stalling. Once his legs were better... He tugged the right glove on. This man...he'd met him a few times before, but why hadn't Kyd noticed his skill? |
Roland watched as Kyd slowly put the gloves on. In return he lowered his leg back down. "I can't. And if I didn't interfere you'd be dead by now. So be happy you get to continue being a pain in the ass."

Deciding that she had had enough of just watching Jubeii jumped down into the alleyway landing right behind Kyd. "So what do we have here eh? RoRo and a Kiddo?" She couldn't resist using nicknames for the two, they just seemed to be asking for it.

Vincent watched as Jubeii made her move went over the edge landed near the other down below. He let out a soft sigh unable to help him self he followed after the other. "What a day," was all he could say once landing on the ground next to Jubeii.

Makoto looked up at the police officer.
License? She chuckled. "You trying to arrest me, kid?" She took a sip of coffee, and slipped her hand into her pocket. She took out the syringe Kyd threw at her, and showed it to the officer. "I'll show you my license if you tell me what kind of poison this is. A Toxic Skull threw it at me while I was looking for this coffee shop." Makoto took another sip of coffee. "Sit down. I won't hurt you. Don't worry. I'll buy you a coffee if you want." |
Slowly he did as the woman bid him while looking at the syringe. He grabbed a few napkins from a near by dispenser and squirted a test drop onto the paper watching its white grains turn a putrid green. It was clearly an acid toxin, highly corrosive appearing to mean to damage the bodies internal organs at a rapid rate. Esmun was not sure if these were things the woman already knew so he kept them to himself. His other guess from the way congealed was animal venom mixed with other substances. Twisting it in his fingers he watched the liquid on the napkin. “No thank you for the coffee... “ He set the vial back on the table. “Unless I can take this with me I can not tell you for sure. It is designed to instantly kill with out having to reach the brain. Rather then liquify it looks as if it congest. The acid causes holes that allows the poison to get into the blood stream, the oxygen activates the congealing effect ” He did not give the syringe back. Instead he tucked it away in many layers of napkins. “Where did you get this ma'am?”

Mute rage brought color to his face as quickly as the shock and pain had drained it. I could stick to Keigo. ...But that's an even stupider...more stupid?...name. "Well, I've got the fucking gloves on. My legs're gonna repair themselves or what? |
Makoto listened to the officer's analysis of the poison, and watched him wrap the syringe with a few layers of napkins. Darn. I would've used that poison on another Skull to cause confusion within the gangs. Maybe I could pickpocket him... Makoto closed her eyes and thought about it.
"A Toxic Skull called Kyd threw it at me back at the abandoned construction site. I think an officer's arresting him right now." Makoto opened her eyes. ...Nah. I'll let him analyze that poison for me. I could make a visit to the precinct tonight if I have to. "I could go with you if you want me to." |
Roland scratched his head and sighed. "Why am I running into so many skulls today." he softly muttered as he walked over to Kyd. He visually examined Kyd's injuries then turned his head towards Jubeii and Vincent. "I don't suppose either of you has a strand of leather on hand?"

Jubeii gave Roland a look "Well sorry for being a Skull". She sighed and removed her leather belt making sure to take off her dagger and sword sheaths before dangling the belt in one hand in front of Roland. "Will this do?"

Kyd narrowed his eyes. If only Jubeii and her underling had the guts to off this policeman... Life would be a lot, lot better. "Of course, I told you to come running over here in the first place," Kyd muttered, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "And the fuck d'you want leather for?" |
Roland grabbed the belt from Jubeii. "That'll work for the leg, thanks." Roland knelt down and tore Kyd's pant leg so it was above the gun shot wound and tied the belt above it and used the cloth that he tore off to tie a makeshift bandage around the wound. With a slight pat on Kyd's shoulder He smiled. "Well I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is your leg isn't broken and the one that was shot didn't hit any veins and went through completely. Bad new is... Your leg is dislocated at the knee and the ankle so this is going to hurt... A lot."
Roland quickly grabbed Kyd's foot and pulled it straight and with a loud and sickening pop he knew his leg was back in place. |
“A toxic skull you say.... wait who are you?” The woman was strange. “Excuse me miss, but who are you?” He asked just as the young girl delivered his coffee to him. “I may still smell new, but I am sure I have never seen you around the station before.” Esmun inspected the girl giving her the once over. By now he was smart enough to know that being blonde and a woman meant little unless you were a candy skull.

"You can call me Dal Niente." Makoto never liked giving her real name to anyone, except to people she truly trusted. "I was assigned to do a job here in Tokyo..." she looked at the officer in the eye, almost glaring at his soul. "...as a Skull Hunter."
Makoto finished her cup of coffee. "...I introduced myself. Now it's your turn. What's your name?" |
Esmun took a sip of the coffee relishing the jolts of adrenaline going through his brain with his eyes drawn shut. He opened them, grinning at the woman, Dal "Utuh, sorry but I never kiss and tale." He said teasingly. “Maybe if I see a little ID I'll be a bit more talkative.” He took another sip with no real intentions of answering the girls questions but getting plenty of information from her.

Jubeii winced when she heard the pop of Kyd's leg going back into place. That's got to hurt some. " Are you going to take Kiddo here to the precinct?" Jubeii asked. She wasn't so sure if she wanted to stop him or not if that were the case. She was strong but there were too many unknowns for her to pick a fight with Roland right now. Jubeii was fine with interfering to keep Kyd from bleeding out and dying but she wouldn't risk her life or freedom for him.

Tch. What a persistent boy. Then again...he is a police officer. Makoto sighed, and reached into her jacket pocket. She took out a plastic card with her alias and physical information and handed it to the officer.

Roland stood and and placed his hands back into his pocket. He tilted his head slightly and after moment shook his head. "I think I'll just retreat for now without him. I'm not about to just drag one wounded skull to the precinct with two more right here to stop me." He shrugged and and turned to leave. "Don't do anything stupid like brag to everyone around the neighborhood about how you out numbered a police officer and forced him to retreat now."
Roland hoped they got the hint as he left the alley way and headed back to the precinct empty handed. |
"Heh, I catch your drift. Well then, I'll be glad to spread the word this time. Hopefully we don't meet again when you're on duty". Jubeii didn't wait for a reply this time. She decided that she should probably 'escort' Kyd home just in case he pisses someone else off earning him an early grave. She crouched down close to Kyd to try and get his attention. "Oy, Kiddo, where is your territory?"

...Thanks for the warning. Really appreciate that, Kyd thought as the flush from his anger flare drained out completely again. That policeman...they'd met before. Too many times. And Kyd loathed him. Actually, he hated the way the man treated him more than the man himself. "Don't call me..." He trailed off, giving up. "Th'hell d'you mean, where's my territory? You're standing on it, idiot." |
Jubeii's humor left her. "Don't tempt me to hurt you more then you already are Kyd. I meant where you live or stay. Or are you trying to say that you sleep on the streets". To make the point very clear to Kyd she took one of her Karambit daggers in hand and slowly moved it vertically from his midriff to his chest. She didn't actually cut him...yet.

Esmun took the ID. He felt a tad like being cheeky. Holding up to the light he twisted the ID until he could see the holographic lines before speaking again. "It could be a fake, and it still doesn't earn you a name." He handed the card back to the woman. "If you are a skull hunter, and you know who shot the syringe at you, why aren't you out hunting him?"

Vincent gave a sigh watching Roland leave his eyes narrowing some as his thoughts wondered around some then brought his attention back to Kyd and Jubeii, "Kyd enough as much as your pride is well high above anyone else just take the damn help and show us where you stay in the evening to rest so we can get you there safely with out others trying to off you." he said him crimson eyes not leaving the area where Roland was then looked back over to the two and knelt down to help Jubeii with Kyd. At times he wondered why they did this it was better off to just to off as many as they could, but that was his inner blood lust talking. Pushing it all off to the side he continued on to help the other.

"Your fellow officer, the one wearing a bandanna, attacked me, and claimed an arrest on the Skull. Said something about the law protecting the captured." Makoto responded as she took back her ID. "I doubt he would be able to bring the Skull to prison on his own."
"As for the ID. It's real. Go ahead and call the Skull Hunter HQ if you want to." |

"If I told you it's a few hundred feet away, would you stop pissing me off and go on your own merry ways?" Kyd growled. As much as he didn't want people to know where he lived... But he'd have to move anyways, and get his hammock later. Might be hard climbing that ladder. He cocked an eyebrow at Jubeii. "Short fuse, huh. Did nothing to hurt you at all." Looking down, he continued, "...Giving me an excuse to borrow another shirt off a clothesline." |
Jubeii sighed " Well today I find myself with a short fuse and you calling me an idiot did not help to alleviate it." She withdrew her dagger and proceeded to heave Kyd up with some help from Vincent. "And unfortunately for you I intend to see you home even if it isn't that far. Besides how are you going to get there with your legs in this messed up state? Crawl?"
He's as stubborn as a mule. Why can't he just accept some help for once. |
Holding Kyd up on the other side he let out another sigh of annoyance, he was trying to be calm about everything just so they could get him to the place he needed to. "Also we need to make this quick Jubeii, I don't want others of his group to think we did something like this to him when it was that crazy women. Which also is another one we need to watch out for." he noted some.

Roalnd sat with his head on his desk at the the precinct. The day had not gone at all how he had hoped. He was looking forward to an uneventful day as usual but it seemed it was not to be. Though deep down he was a little happy for the change in his daily routine and the only thing he was really displeased about was that he used up so many of his weekly rationed cigarettes.
Roland yawned softly as he raised his head and looked around the office. "Huh? Esmun isn't here." |
Jubeii nodded her head in reply to Vincent. "True, we don't need his group jumping to conclusions. So Kyd, are you going to tell us the direction to head in?" They weren't going to move without knowing where to go. If only Kyd would stop being so stubborn.

Del sealed her fate by telling him to called the Skull hunter HQ. Esmun had no intention of talking to such brutes. “You shouldn't under estimate Roland, or the police force, Ms Del. Just because we aren't brutes doesn't mean we don't do our job.” He plucked the napkin with the syringe and tucked it into his breast pocket. “It was nice meeting you. Next time I'll buy your coffee.” His head nodded at her as he took another sip of the black liquid. Briskly Esmun left the shop. He was already behind on his patrol duty and decided it would not hurt to take the poison back to the precinct since he was so close.
