Is this some sort of rule? When things are finally going well, something terrible must be on the horizon? I'm not sure I like this logic. Can't we just be happy and not dead? I like that option.

Twenty-four were released already, with pending evaluations for another seven this evening. Mind you, that doesn't mean that all of them should be thrown right back into heavy work, if it can be avoided.
