I'm back, what'd I miss?

uncledaddy 03-04-2013 06:54 PM

Not a thing, it seems.

Red Lion 03-04-2013 06:54 PM

Indeed,

Hello thar willis. Whassup?

uncledaddy 03-04-2013 06:55 PM

Nuffing. XP I was all excite to talk about writing and character development and such, but...

eh.

Red Lion 03-04-2013 06:56 PM

Yeah that didn't get far did it? Oh well,

I think character development for my people just sort of happens, it's never really planned.

littl3chocobo 03-04-2013 06:56 PM

sorry dear, i am here

uncledaddy 03-04-2013 07:00 PM

Bring up writing and everyone flees. >:o hrmph. Never even got to share anything.

And no, planning is counter-productive to character development. it has to be natural or else it feels forced and doesn't really work.

Red Lion 03-04-2013 07:03 PM

Howdy Chocobo.

I think RPing is the best way to do it, cause then I get to exercise the character in scenarios that aren't necessarily of my own construction.

uncledaddy 03-04-2013 07:04 PM

Roo. Having them interact with things that you can't totally plan is the best way to see what they're really like.

Red Lion 03-04-2013 07:05 PM

And then the characters write themselves!

uncledaddy 03-04-2013 07:08 PM

Precisely. Because they are living peoples. *sagely nodding*

Nexess 03-04-2013 07:08 PM

:I I may have disappeared to watch Young Justice....

littl3chocobo 03-04-2013 07:08 PM

well, not /that/ i cant agree with

i do ask hypotheticals to make sure the rp moves smoothly and the chars dont kill each other

Red Lion 03-04-2013 07:18 PM

Chocobo: Good communication with the RP partner is essential to success, in my experience.

Willis: Exactly!

Nexess: People keep telling me to see that, I almost caved when I saw an episode with Lobo in it.

Gallagher 03-04-2013 07:20 PM

I love talking to my rp partners.

If I don't, I just get bored.

I hate it when we do all this chat beforehand, but then when we start, they just let that be the end of it.

Wut? no. not cool, bro.

I like translating my posts.

littl3chocobo 03-04-2013 07:22 PM

yeah, that way they dont try and mod it up or get confused and you dont have to explain everything in the story directly

Nexess 03-04-2013 07:24 PM

Red - I can give you the site I watch them on? There in surprisingly good quality too man.

Red Lion 03-04-2013 07:25 PM

Exactly,

Willis and I have the best communication so our RP always go without a hitch.

Or longest running RP is called Kenny and it's 8 years old and still running.

littl3chocobo 03-04-2013 07:25 PM

<3<3<3 red, my willis just got home~<3

The animation does look decent,

I haven't watched superhero cartoons since the Justice League, Batman TAS has alwasy been my favorite so I have no idea how I'll feel about Young Justice.

Your willis? You have a willis?

uncledaddy 03-04-2013 07:27 PM

Communication is important when you are working with another person, but planning every element well before it happens can destroy characterization. The difference between saying "I'd like to see what he does when X happens, so let's do that" and saying "X will happen, and then he will do this" is monumental. There should be balance between what one knows beforehand about a character and what one feels that character will do when faced with a situation that the character's creator did not already plan out ahead of time.

littl3chocobo 03-04-2013 07:28 PM

poggio is my willis, i can rp with her the way i can rp with noone else, it is insane<3<3 but she and i are compatable and even when we dilly things up there is always something else, we also have an rp that is a year and a half and i still love it as much as the first month we worked on it

It's actually really good, takes a bit to understand season 2, cause theres a time skip, but otherwise the story line is really good. Oh and they use some characters that haven't been in any of their other animations before~

Red Lion 03-04-2013 07:32 PM

Willis: Yes, and we always set up a scenario without giving it a definite conclusion first.

Chocobo: Sounds like a Willis alright.

Nex: Ok, I'll try it!

Nexess 03-04-2013 07:32 PM

<w< Bwahahahahahaa! I have turned another to the DCU side!

littl3chocobo 03-04-2013 07:33 PM

yup~ only unlike a willis she does not have the five o' clock shadow

Red Lion 03-04-2013 07:34 PM

....I was already into the DCU. I just wasn't sure about Young Justice, I didn't like the teen titans much and I figured it would be a similar concept.

My favorite superhero is Batman and my favorite DC characters are Bane and Lobo.

uncledaddy 03-04-2013 07:36 PM

A Willis is a wonderful thing to have. But the extra facial hair is always a plus. > 3> *rubs chin all over Willis*

Red Lion 03-04-2013 07:37 PM

Yes! Hairyness is next to godliness!
