I do cheap arts because I'm not that good and I don't want people complaining about overpriced art. ^^;
|
hey, Mekatra! welcome back!! =)
|
It's my favorite string witch! Hiya!
It's one thing for you to price your art lower because you feel you are still gaining skill. It's something entirely different for someone else to to try to value your work. They have no right to say that it isn't worth what you're asking. |

Good, good. Busy as heck until the end of the tourist season. ( I work at a coffee shop/information center in a tourist town.)
How have you been? |
oh that sounds like fun... lol
i've been good up until today when... i'm not sure if it's a cold or my allergies. yay. not. |
i normally price low but i thought you know, i kind of like my style now and it takes quite a bit of time so I was like ya ok i'm going for it! Especially when my friends charge 100-200 a character, I was like this is totally reasonable for my time but :l
I dunno. I need a manager! |
BOOPS IN.
HALLO THERE, GHOULS. |
Hiya Batty! :)
|
Glitch, it is totally reasonable.
First of all, your art looks great. I would believe it if you said you were a full time comic artist / animator / whatever. Your art does have this certain professional air about it. Second, time. It takes you some to complete the commission, and it probably took you even more to get to this point (now of course it would be ridiculous if one single person had to pay for an artist's whole tuition all alone, but I do believe time contributes to overall value - not just the time you spend on the drawing itself, but also the fact you already had to practice to get that good). Third, anyone who says they would buy at lower prices aren't likely to buy at all. Nowadays people often think they're entitled to creative work for free (or super cheap). As in "you enjoy what you're doing, so I'm giving you a chance to do it, why do you expect me to pay for that now?!" Well sure, but fun alone doesn't pay bills, and maybe some artists would rather draw different things than that 'Egyptian god Osiris humping Deadpool' image you requested. So essentially people are saying "I like your art, but I don't want to pay for your time". Ironically the very same sort of people has no problem to shell out five bucks for a fancy coffee and several hundreds for trendy clothes to dress like sophisticated art lovers. In short, your prices are fair. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. |

2.) Those prices are super reasonable and even much lower than they could be. 3.) That person is an idiot and an asshole and I would have doubled my prices just for them because they don't deserve to get your art for even as cheap as you offered it. |
We're all gonna be your managers

<- joins the social media failure brigade
(I actually have a tumblr, but only use it to store the riddle solutions to a game I play. What's that social thing you talk about? ^^) |
I used to have Tumblr, but I never really understood what it was for and my only friend on there pretty much only did re-posts of "all white people are ignorant, uncultured racists who can't cook/season foods properly" posts.
|
tumblr is one of those sites that's what you make it
surround yourself with blogs that inspire and compel you, you'll get positivity back go adding people willy nilly because you just happen to know them without considering the content they put out and you'll have a bad time it's a site based on bonding through ideas and making social connections from there, not using your social connections to spread ideas so, in that way, it's different from social medias like twitter, facebook, etc where you add people because you have some pre-existing level of familiarity with them. |
Yeah....but I get anxiety over adding people I don't know...
And I HATE when I add/like something and suddenly my feed is full up with like 20+ posts/images per day from each new page/person/group/whatever tf it is so I have to go into extreme detective mode just to find my friend's stuff. |
mm, tumblr's the only one i've been comfortable with because i know exactly what's going to come across my page, and at what rate most days. there's no pressure for anyone to share personal information for any reason, and it's easy to go checking up on a specific blog you're in the mood for
fits with me lol |
Help me make friends and learn "social" m3dia, Galla! I am teh fail!
|
eeehhh
i'm not very social, either. my dash is filled with art, writing, and character analysis. |
Sounds to me like a much better deal than "you're racist and your food tastes lame"
|
yuh. the inherent anonymity relieves a great deal of pressure that you see on a lot of social media sites. your blog is what you enjoy, not the digital mask/resume that on some level, conscious or unconscious, you have to maintain to acceptable standards lest you inadvertently leave a mark on the way that people in your life see you.
i find it to be incredibly freeing because who you are no longer matters nearly as much as your ideas. you have a choice to keep yourself in a bubble, or you can freely and easily interact with those of differing mindsets. plus, the memes are better than twitter and facebook |
I may have to give tumblr another chance vecause I mean....I did always go look at the funny tumblr post pages on Facebook back when I still used it(FB)...
|
there's lots of really good meme blogs lmao
general memes, and fandom specific memes. whatever you're into. |
I'm not a huge meme person. Puns (I guess we now just call them dad jokes?) are generally more my speed. But fandom memes can be okay.
|
puns and dad jokes are just subsections under the meme umbrella lmao
|
I could argue that...
Puns have been around for (to my knowledge) many years before memes even existed. So technically, memes and puns/dad jokes are really just subsections under the umbrella of humor that overlap when someone puts an image behind a typed out pun/joke. XD |
no, no, the concept of memes is very, very old.
looking at the greater picture of memes, there's the socio-evolutionary memes that are long term ideas/adaptations that hang around for decades, if not hundreds of years at one extreme, and then there's the proliferative, fast-paced image based internet memes like you're thinking of now. so i would argue that dad jokes are a sort of inbetween, because despite not always having the internet to facilitate their rapid spread, the vast majority of dad jokes and puns are something that live in the collective mind that reaches through multiple areas, times, and cultures. you could even look at the spread of email humor as a type of meme, and very much a prerequisite to what we currently think of as memes within internet culture. it's all memes, man memes all the way down |
also, there's plenty of text based memes.
a lot of them fit dad humor and puns, but they're not any less memes for lacking an image, lol |
memes are midichlorians
is what a college friend used to say |
My ex had theee tumblrs for his different porn interests that was my first intro to tumblr xD
|
that puts a different spin to that horny on main meme
there are really people like that huh |
Can I join the social media failure brigade as well? 8D

I’m sharing this video because it’s pretty cool and my friend is in it. I mean I know a chunk of the people in it so-so and the bad guy is kind of jerk. I used to think he was great but he invited himself along to lunch with me one time and then told people we went on a date, and then found out I had a boyfriend, and he spread some kind of mean rumors about me -.-;;;; and so I don’t like him, so him being a bad guy was pretty fitting for me! But my good friend is awesome (he’s the most Viking looking dude in the film) and the creator of vampire hunter d has seen it now and said it was pretty good so!!!! Support for my friend! Also it was filmed in Idaho which is where I live so there’s that too. |
Brady had to buy a new car --- he decided on the car he HAD to have.
Ugg its been a nightmare xD |
Is it a good car, at least? Will you drive whenever you want?
|
he loves it - a subaru forester with the turbo option. =.=
|
I'm sure those words mean something all together xDDD
I don't know anything about cars |D |
I'd like to help (re-)introduce people to tumblr, but as Galla probably knows, probably 70% of my content is videogame shit. On tumblr, you really want to find and follow people who post what *you* also want to be posting. (Unless you're the type to make a lot of original posts. Which I'm not. Unless I'm latenight shitposting.)
As for actually following people you don't know -- new followers are almost always welcome. There are a few edge cases where they're not, which will most likely be explained in any About Me section on that particular blog (for example, a lot of LGBT+/NSFW blogs forbid people they know IRL from following them). Other edge cases are like, don't follow someone purely for a contest, etc. But generally speaking, people will usually be hyped to get new followers. |
lmao, i don't post my blog around much because i'm marked as explicit
|
my blog has the best content
all my social media is the best ... yes, I never post anything anywhere. avatar sites are where I post, count yourselves lucky!!!!! |
