I actually did better when I was away at college over being home, mostly because of sanity problems caused by my mom. =.=;

*Smothers Dandelioness in hugs* Yay! Someone with my idea! Well...my idea if you add internet to give connection/reduce closed-mindedness that isolated communities can develop.

I wish I could afford to be away for college, I'd like to take my family out of the equation when it comes to my sanity and academics.

Only reason why I could was because of a scholarship, and only just barely. =.=; My dad had to help me pay for college and he used both his retirement money and the inheritance he had gotten when my grandmother died.

I still hate the idea of college in modern day, people just want to go in to get the skills they need for their job and leave. But they come in giving you all these additional classes when it's like "NO. Just let me learn the skills from you guys, get that fancy certificate saying I was able to put up with you guys for 4 lousy years so I can tell my employers I can put up with them as well." Textbooks are overprice, and my classes hardly ever use them to begin with. And blah! I just really hate how colleges are mostly for profit and aren't as integral to achieving a higher life anymore, especially when we see nearly every new billionaire drop out of college to continue their endeavors. -.-

Well, most of my books I used because they were math text books and using the contents helped me to study, and we had homework in the book as well. x'D But for the other classes, in total agreement there. ^^;

Pretty much. Like you said, life is silly like that.

From what I understand, the inflation of college prices is in part a result of the government scholarships, and in part due to college ranking.

For the scholarship part - colleges can only take in so many students before overcrowding. So, when there are enough applicants to a college that are acceptable, in order to weed out several without denying them, colleges raise tuition. Scholarships and loans then undo this, so colleges raise them even more...and more scholarships/loans...

A similar situation is going on with hospital/insurance costs...

That's kind of messed up though because there are some really smart people out there that cannot afford college, so trying to cut them off like that is not equal education for all. :/

It's true. It's being able to accomplish the work given, or being able to create work for others. Then it all comes down to is MONEY.

Yes it does boil down to just money. People are studying for money. Why do people in my country go do either engineering or medicine and practically don't keep any other options opne? Money. Why are some careers/subjects ok and others not? Money. Why do my parents want me to do SO well? MONEY!

And the saying is that money is the root of all evil. =.=; Looks like it might be true considering some people will kill for it.

And yet, we don't have to fully be like that. Yes, we need resources to survive and do things, and yes, governments demand their dues, but we can try to keep helping one another. :)

I had bought cookies and I was going to giving it to the people I work with when my mom threw a fit and yelled at me because I didn't get it for 'us'. Unknown to me she had two small tins of cookies stashed in her draw in her desk and she still had two bags of candy. =.=;

Man... I really want sugar cookies right now. And white grape sparkling juice! OH OH AND SUSHI!

Hmmm! Sushi! I haven't had any for a while. x'D The chinese buffet you have to pay extra for the sushi, and I think its for each time you grab something and what you grab. T-T Maybe there's a sushi restaurant near me...
