There aren't fires around Edmonton yet. But we're getting displaced people. *looks out window* I can't even smell the smoke.

I can remember when I was a little kid and my dad went firebug. One time he nearly burned down the garage, and I was sitting up on the roof of it with the two siblings that were all I had then, watching as our pet hen and our twin kid goats tried to figure out how to get past the fire so they could come sit with us. Because my parents and one of my dad's brothers were moving around the fire, the animals didn't think it was scary. But I was terrified they'd be hurt.

Oh dear...I hope they were okay.
So, are things in place to reduce the chance of a fire, or?

...oh deary dear...

We had wildfires down in Kansas and parts of Nebraska back near the beginning of April, I remember. And I don't recall smelling the smoke from those...

They've got the water bombers and stuff. And ground crews are making firebreaks. But the fires have doubled back and are burning parts of Fort Mac that they missed the first time around. There's been one fatality that I've heard of, where two big trucks collided in the heavy smoke.

I don't think there's much chance of wildfires here in Edmonton. Most the land around here is agricultural. No to very few trees. And all the cities in this area have had watches going since part of Slave Lake burned a few years ago. That's why everyone in Fort Mac was evacuated safely.

LOL I've smelt smoke here from fires in British Columbia and Washington, so I wouldn't have been surprised to smell it from Fort McMurray.

This pleases the Lawtan.
Hmm...I think it may be tied to a flag thing...though it may be that all other caped guys lost popularity for being all the same?

XD And now I'm thinking of 'The Incredibles'.

Which I have to get someday soon.
