Ahh, I see, I see. :3
Sounds interesting. >w<;
And at least you can use your English Lit program/major knowledge to help with your Trisphee writing job. ;] Must be nice to be able to use it in some ways on a somewhat regular basis. >w<

Quiet Man Cometh 02-16-2012 12:14 AM

Well it varies actually. I do more creative writing here and some info stuff. Knowing about literature doesn't immediately make someone a good writer or a good judge of writing, since it's all subjective. It certainly doesn't hurt though. :)

Arikana 02-16-2012 12:22 AM

Well it still gives you an edge having studied it English Lit, but like any other skill it all depends on how you use your knowledge. :3

Quiet Man Cometh 02-16-2012 12:35 AM

The amusing thing seems to be that, at my school, the English lit majors and the creative writing majors are at covert war with each other. The deparments have piles of student magazines, none of which tend to do very well, apparently, because the two sides wont do anything jointly.

Arikana 02-16-2012 12:37 AM

Bwahaha!! XD That's pretty hilarious!!

Is there anyway to just end this war? How did it even start?

Quiet Man Cometh 02-16-2012 12:43 AM

No clue. It's been that way for a while from what I imagine.

The arts students and engineering students are at open war with each other. ;). Our oudated english buildings were being repaired so I had to walk across campus for one class, and would pass the engineering statue that would get vandalised pretty much every day, and engineering students would be there, painting over it again. It's something of a university ritual it seems, like how the engineering students all hand a volkswagon beetle from a local bridge as a grad prank. The got caught the year I graduated though. First time I think.

Arikana 02-16-2012 12:47 AM

Well, if it's a tradition then it should probably stay that way. Though I must admit the art students versus engineering students war sounds a heck of a lot more interesting than the English lit students versus creative writing students war. >w< Mainly because of the fact that I can't really see what art and engineering have to do with each other...

But while we're on the topic, what do art and engineering have to do with each other anyways? owo

Quiet Man Cometh 02-16-2012 12:53 AM

Not much, hence the war. ;). Call it science versus art. The number people versus the word people, so to speak. The symbol of the Engineering school is a knight, which does make me snicker somewhat. Not really science motivated, that. ;)

Not sure what the creative writing/english major thing is all about. General disagreements of sorts I suppose, probably to do with the nature of writing or philosophies around it.

Batty 02-16-2012 12:56 AM

<.<;;

I have no idea whats going on right now, but, I just finished Sailor Moon volume 2, and I'm craving volume 3. xD;

Rainbowfox Ari 02-16-2012 12:58 AM

*Digs a hole to look for more rations and water, since doesn't have enough*

EDIT: Yay! Eggies cracking~

I see. owo
What's the art school's symbol? Something science-y for the irony? X'D

Yeah, I get the war between the English Lit folks and Creative Writing folks, but it's the Engineering versus Art one that doesn't make as much sense... >w>

Just wars that went on in Quiet's school back when she was in post-secondary schooling. :3

Hmm...sounds like fun, though I'm not a Sailor Moon fan at all... Sorry.

Rainbowfox Ari 02-16-2012 01:08 AM

*So completely lost as to what's being talked about*

Quiet Man Cometh 02-16-2012 01:11 AM

Call it philosophical differences. And I don't think the arts deparment really has one. The engineering department is older I think, and has red jackets with the knight on the back, along with a compass I believe (the geometrical one). There might well be something Masonic about it. *Shrug.*

Arts isn't always taken seriously as an educational persuit, so I think that's part of it. Think of any stereotypical story of the kid who's parents want him to be a lawyer or a scientist of a business man and then said kid runs off to be an artist or poet. It's not so much a war perhaps, as more good natured (I think) roasting back and forth. It's nothing damaging. he arts students do things like paint the "E" on the engineering sign to look like a tree or something and put decorations around it.

Quiet Man Cometh 02-16-2012 01:13 AM

Arrik: I'm assuming that you can trade the treasure stuff for rations and water yeah? (Haven't tried yet).

Arikana 02-16-2012 01:16 AM

*shrugs*

Either way, it's still all too amusing for me. >w<

Rainbowfox Ari 02-16-2012 01:35 AM

Yeah. You can, but not much. XD
I want a couple more of the things, and I don't have enough to get yet. Phooey.
