So I just made an equation based on what rugs of various sizes usually sell for. For an 18" by 30" rug, that amounts to about $42. Do you think anyone would actually pay that much?

Personally, I don't think I'd pay that much, but just because I don't like rugs that much, but for a handmade rug, I don't think that's a bad price.
