Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

It didn't blow up the box office nor impress the critics, but I thought it was brilliant.

The first half is good, too. :)

I watched...gotta think about it here...some of Star Trek: Generations.

If completeness matters, then about 80% of Three-Headed Shark Attack before that, and all of Logan before that.

Logan was good.

All the way through?
Accepted
But I am halfway through The Man From Snowy River right now.

Kimi No Na Wa (Your Name)
It was being talked about a lot. It was nice. Moving.

Finally watched "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" last night. It was alright, definitely the weakest of Mamoru Hosoda's movies, but I think that it was because it wasn't his story, unlike Wolf Children and Summer Wars.

daikokunyo 07-31-2017 11:33 AM

@Joe Oh that reminds me of Perfect Blue since it's also directed by him. I liked it all right, though I wasn't blown away. I enjoy atmospheric dementia. But I prefer the likes of Serial Experiments Lain.

CactuarJoe 07-31-2017 12:21 PM

@Sternum Pssst Perfect Blue was actually Satoshi Kon, the same guy who did Paprika and Tokyo Godfathers. I'm currently watching Lain for the first time and I am still not sure what I think of it.

daikokunyo 08-01-2017 02:15 AM

@Joe: Ooh I didn't know that o.o I don't know why I was under the impression that it was by Hosoda.
Lain is the kind of thing that either clicks with you hard or it doesn't lol.
Right now I'm watching Ergo Proxy.

Hidden

Just walked in when my sister-in-law and niece were watching it. No clue what is was about, just people hiding from bad thing after some really bad thing. Good movie though. Slow, atmospheric, but quite well done for what it turned out to be.

The Axe Murders of Villisca

Watched just now. Usual sort of possessed haunted house fare. I did like the characters though, and it had some moments. Didn't go too much into backstory.

War of the Planet of the Apes - Eeeh I think the ending was kinda anticlimatic (I mean, there wasn't really a war, there was more psychological tension). I also didn't like the ableism, even though it's the villain holding that conviction, I wish someone had said that not talking didn't mean not having superior thinking.

I rewatched Shutter Island =3

CactuarJoe 08-28-2017 08:07 AM

Thumbelina

Isis 08-30-2017 02:11 PM

I saw Real Steel. Somehow wasn't expecting the beginning to be a robot vs. bull fight, but it got way less crazy from there...

mdom 08-30-2017 10:23 PM

I watched Dark Towers. Worthy just because of Idris Elba. What a man.

CactuarJoe 09-06-2017 09:07 AM

The Prestige.

SparX 09-06-2017 10:47 AM

We saw half of A Monster Calls at the hotel. . . the end half where we were balling D:
