These are weird times.

Is it considered a shutdown, trystan? I'm not sure what the difference is if everything here already is closed off or limited.

I'm having to leave the house more frequently than because I haven't been able to get what I needed from the store.

Are you surviving, Glitch?

trystan830 03-19-2020 06:20 PM

y'know, i have no idea anymore if this is considered a shutdown. and there's things i can't do at home, because of the database we use - it's designed for an ancient version of Access, so i have to go into the office to do that. but what we have going for that job, as i said, is there's only the 2 of us, and we're now rotating. so. we'll see what happens with that monday.

i'm going to see if my PT job qualifies for unemployment. i only work like 12-15 hours a week, so we shall see.

Stabbsworth 03-19-2020 06:25 PM

no idea if there's a lockdown going on here. i'm gonna continue as normal.

mdom 03-19-2020 06:36 PM

D: be safe, void

Stabbsworth 03-19-2020 06:37 PM

things will probably be fine.

Glitch 03-19-2020 08:02 PM

Well a city two hours from here just had 17 confirmed cases today so that city is on isolation. Here the grocers are all limited hours and starting tomorrow morning all restaurants and bars are closed to indoor dining.

My husband may be losing his job - they’re having a meeting tomorrow because he works for the vacation industry and he’s convinced that is what the meeting is gonna be about. I’m hoping for the best though.

Biomecha 03-19-2020 08:55 PM

That would really suck, so hopefully it won't get to that point.

No because staying home would mean losing my home.
So until they decide to fully screw me over and shut down everything, I'm working as much as possible.

trystan830 03-19-2020 09:39 PM

sorry to hear that Glitch.

and i get that, Kaderin. hubby will be working from home until further notice.

Kaderin Triste 03-19-2020 09:42 PM

Oh man, I wish working from home was an option for me, that would be great

Glitch 03-20-2020 12:10 PM

Brady also has to go to the office although if the mandatory everybody attend meeting is to lay everyone off today I guess he won’t have to go anymore? Lol.

Sorry kaderin I hope for speedy recoveries!

Kaderin Triste 03-20-2020 12:38 PM

Recoveries? I'm....not actually sick yet?

And was informed last night that Joann is technically not actually a "non-essential" business (that is just stuff like bars, casinos, etc) because we provide fabric for clothes and face masks, so that job, at least is guaranteed for a while.
And the museum is probably gonna stay open to employees, though most people can and may work at home if things get too bad.
Unfortunately, cleaning my own apartment doesn't count as working from home, so I'll need to keep going to work at the museum.

Glitch 03-20-2020 12:45 PM

I don’t mean you I mean the world in general v.v

Kaderin Triste 03-20-2020 01:06 PM

Oh. *facepalm* Yeah that makes more sense.

XoGizmooX 03-20-2020 01:26 PM

I'm around been on a tp hunt this is insane:( Out of work may lose phone hoping I get the $1000 that Trump said all Adult Americans get ....kids get $500 I have no kids but I desperately need the $1000 if I qualify I can't find any details on who qualifies and who doesn't:(

Kaderin Triste 03-20-2020 02:20 PM

Good luck on the hunt!
Ohh, $1k would come in handy. But I don't trust the oompa loompa.

Glitch 03-20-2020 03:32 PM

Well he got laid off v.v

trystan830 03-20-2020 04:06 PM

oh no, sorry to hear that Glitch.

since the governor said that all non-life-sustaining businesses need to close, everyone in my area (Philly and surrounding counties) are confused as to what that means. turns out there's now an email you can send either a question to find out if you need to close.... or to get an exemption. I'm not going to tell my boss about that until she questions it. XD

Merskelly Metalien 03-20-2020 05:10 PM

*pokes head in* Meanwhile, in California,
<x') there is a state-wide order now in place to stay at home, so everything everyhere is now closed, except for hospitals and medical centers and clinics, supermarkets, drug stores, restaurants for pick-up or delivery only, and only selected day care centers.

I have only video games, books, tea, old tapes and the internet to keep me sane, and it's going great! 8} My poor extroverted family on the other hand is having a bit of a tough time adjusting. >.> But I think they'll be fine since I guess I count as human contact and company. <x]
Hope everyone else is hangin' in there! o3o It's almost like bunkering down for a hurricane or storm or something with how crazy everything has gotten.

trystan830 03-20-2020 05:23 PM

i'm good - i have yarn, a bunch of forums, and a bunch of shows.

my scheduled work day this week is Tuesday, so I'll have a few emails back and forth on Monday, I'm sure. this will be interesting.

XoGizmooX 03-20-2020 05:29 PM

The adventures in EMPTY STORES I had to hit 1 store for milk a 2nd store for bread a 3rd store for bottle water and a 4th store for tp AND EVEN THE 4TH STORE HAD NO TP IN STOCK but the cashier shared her personal tp with me so I got 3 rolls for $1 from her

Merskelly Metalien 03-20-2020 05:38 PM

<.<; so glad our family buys TP in bulk months in advance and it lasts a long time, so we never have a need to hoard a bunch of TP. >-> unfortunately when we do run out eventually, we might be in short supply..

Biomecha 03-20-2020 06:35 PM

Sorry to see that happened, Glitch. It's pretty astonishing how much this is affecting everyone.

Kaderin Triste 03-20-2020 07:19 PM

Super glad I managed to get tp before the shortage struck hard here.
A lot of people today are asking if I know how long the Joann store is going to be open.
I don't. But because we are providing supplies to make masks to help the medical centers, I'm guessing we'll be open until the whole city is ordered to shut down...

I have plenty of books, dvds, yarn, and jump rings to keep me occupied in case of the worst.

trystan830 03-20-2020 09:09 PM

oh right, i have plenty of books too. and skype and zoom.

Merskelly Metalien 03-20-2020 09:17 PM

I forgot about my adult coloring books! 8o
I haven't used those old things since my media burnout and the blackout on our neighborhood block, back at my old house. <:3

mdom 03-20-2020 09:19 PM

D:
sorry to read that, Glitch!
and Gizzie, and Kaderin... things are bleak

Biomecha 03-20-2020 09:28 PM

I'm still not clear on what is and isn't allowed during a shutdown. One of my coffee roasters just sent out a message that they won't be able to deliver when it happens.

Merskelly Metalien 03-20-2020 09:29 PM

I've been trying to apply for jobs around my area, but,
<:/ now I think, might not be the best time...I don't even expect anyone to be hiring at all, with all this going on. >n>; It's not lookin' good.

Glitch 03-21-2020 01:59 AM

I dunno if you have Costco’s there but did you see they won’t take tp returns from people that panic bought? There’s a guy on my local fb group offering to buy it from people

Stabbsworth 03-21-2020 09:10 AM

i'm real fuckin nervous bc, y'know -- i have a routine and i hate it if it gets disrupted.

daikokunyo 03-30-2020 03:35 AM

whenever my parents take the car out they're stopped at checkpoints and when they see my grandfather in the back (it's always to take him to his dialysis sessions) they allow the car to pass. and it's always on the way back from dropping grandfather off at the hospital that my mom has been stopping by the supermarket. a lot of the shelves are empty, but so far we haven't had much problems with stocking up. nobody uses toilet paper here anyway so that doesn't run out, i do use it to wipe the toilet seat so i got a couple of rolls. one thing we aren't able to find anywhere, though, is bread.

Glitch 04-01-2020 11:53 AM

I saw some diy for how to make your own yeast for bread!

XoGizmooX 04-01-2020 12:38 PM

What does the (fox) Gizzie say XD

XoGizmooX 04-01-2020 01:54 PM

Do we have a hazmat suit item or medical scrubs ???

Ava 04-01-2020 06:11 PM

That fox face suits you, Gizzie <3

MonBon 04-01-2020 06:37 PM

Tried matching my avi to my cute april fools head. Did it work?

Glitch 04-01-2020 06:47 PM

daikokunyo 04-03-2020 12:59 AM
