I know I am not done with my mask yet, but I have started yet another project XD
I grabbed this eye at michaels on sale, and am gonna turn it into the eye from one of my husbands favorite album covers. He also had the shirt with it on until it got ripped (rip) hahahahahhaa

Damies 10-04-2017 11:55 PM

Oh Sparx I meant to say I think the cracks in the mask should be a dark color definitely not gold xD

current WIPs: a couple of fabric dolls, one to get more familiar with a type of fabric doll jointing, the other: testing out a pattern I'm designing for a big project...

trystan830 10-06-2017 06:04 PM

*comes out of lurk mode*

current WIPs:
1-finish younger daughter's colorwork blanket (just need two rows on the border) - it's regular crochet
2-blanket for a friend of mine for the hollydays - each square is a different pixelized picture of the Doctors from Doctor Who - there's 9 in all, and i only have one made - this is corner-to-corner crochet
3-a blanket that i'm working on for me - it's tunisian crochet
4-a shawl that i'd started for a crochet-a-long that i haven't finished - regular crochet also
5-a slouchy hat that i just started on - this is tunisian crochet as well, since it's a knit pattern

so uhm.... i used to have this thing where i only had one (maybe two) WIP at a time.... XD

Derpy McBlueEyes 10-06-2017 08:51 PM

Current Wips
1. Stuffed fox
2. Mermaid blanket
3. Dream catcher wings
4. Sewn tulle skirt
5. Mini no-sew tulle skirt
6. Test glove to check pattern sizing

Fun times...

Den 10-06-2017 09:52 PM

Well, I got all the pattern pieces for the big doll drafted out... but I'mma finish the first doll before I start sewing/building the prototype big doll. I even remembered to include seam allowances, so I shouldn't have too much trouble with the prototype...

Glitch 10-06-2017 10:57 PM

you guys can feel free to send me all of your projects <3

Damies 10-06-2017 11:15 PM

-shrieking-
I FINISHED MY BLANKET!
To save myself from retyping everythiggggg here is the start of the 4 posts I made about it on tumblr: LINK
At the bottom of the post are links to the three following posts about it. x nx

Glitch 10-06-2017 11:22 PM

looks great! jealous :#

trystan830 10-06-2017 11:28 PM

ooh that's very cool, Damies!

KittyBeary 10-07-2017 06:04 AM

Those look great! :)

Den 10-07-2017 06:35 PM

slowly, but surely, the first doll is coming together. I'm learning about what hiccups I might run into with the BIG doll, and I found enough fleece in my scraps box to make a test-run of the pattern, so I can see if I was successful in my designing. if I am, then I will start saving up for the final fabric for the big doll. if I can find a way to get everything scanned at actual size, I'll make the pattern available for sale on Etsy.

MonBon 10-08-2017 01:01 PM

Nice damies.
I ran out of thread so I can't finish my current wip :-/

tsukiko 10-08-2017 02:22 PM

congrats, damies. looks amazing!

@den
i'm curious of your fabric doll. *sticks nose into your work* xD

Den 10-08-2017 07:22 PM

I'm using fleece because it was what I had on hand that had stretch. and so far, it's actually turning out pretty good.

KittyBeary 10-08-2017 10:54 PM

I went back to fixing up some of my Disney cosplays, but I hope to have my skirt done soon. ._." (Oh ya, I'm making a skirt out of the pillowcase I found... XD )

Damies 10-08-2017 11:40 PM

WHY IS MAKING A PEN POUCH KILLING MEEEE?! ; 0;

dragoness129 10-09-2017 12:12 PM

I drew a zombie Eevee during September, but never got on to post it.

Glitch 10-09-2017 12:13 PM

awe that poor eve D:

dragoness129 10-09-2017 12:14 PM

Yeah, I think it turned out pretty good though.
It's gonna be a theme for an event thread on another site.

Anyone here who sews have any suggestions for what a beginner sewer could use fat quarters/fabric quarters for? They're on sale for 62 cents and I want to buy some, but I'm not sure what I could actually make with them.
Preferably something super easy!

Den 10-09-2017 07:28 PM

with enough of them, you could make a quilt.

Kaderin Triste 10-10-2017 12:01 AM

Guuuuyyys! I said EASY projects!
*whines*
I can barely sew a straight line. And I don't really have the supplies (rulers, rotary cutter, etc for quilts). Tbh, I should probably get more actual supplies like rulers, fabric pens and such...

Glitch 10-10-2017 12:03 AM

kaderin, they probably think those things are easy.

XD

Kaderin Triste 10-10-2017 12:05 AM

Haha...but, I need easy like "Idiots Guide" easy!
Did manage to successfully troubleshoot an issue with my machine thanks to Google though.

Glitch 10-10-2017 12:11 AM

oh well i wasn't meaning that they were easy just that everybody probably thinks of them that way! I can't sew for poop so don't worry. I just make those no sew fleece blankets and call it a day

Kaderin Triste 10-10-2017 12:20 AM

Lol. I understood what you meant. XD
And I dunno, with proper instructions, some of the suggestions probably aren't too difficult really.
I am just 100% not confident in my sewing abilities at all because so many people are all "oh, I can't sew at all" and then making beautiful clothes or other items.

tsukiko 10-10-2017 12:52 AM

i feel for you, kaderin. i can sew, but not that great. i can for the most part follow a pattern xD but sewing machines hate me and like to mess up their tension on me....which makes me frustrated and want to kill it with fire!

Kaderin Triste 10-10-2017 12:57 AM

We could team up! You cut and pin and I'll sew!

Damies 10-10-2017 01:43 AM

With enough angry determination you can make anything! Just try not to expect perfection instantly! Also get a fabric marking pencil/pen and draw the lines on your fabric with a ruler to make a line to follow, it is so much easier even if it still goes crooked at times.

Kaderin Triste 10-10-2017 02:06 AM

I actually meant to buy a ruler the other day, but forgot.

Damies 10-10-2017 02:37 AM

Ohoh to practice sewing straight you could make pillowcases! They use sort of a lot of fabric though.

KittyBeary 10-10-2017 04:25 AM

Pillows. Lots of pillows. ouo They're pretty easy to me. XD

Kaderin Triste 10-10-2017 04:37 AM

Hmmm....I probably could do dome throw pillows or something...
They seem easy. I also thought maybe some rice bag type hot/cold packs. But I need a ruler to cut staight lines for those.

KittyBeary 10-10-2017 04:43 AM

Yeah, that would be good. :)

I've been making some waist aprons with mine that I need to finish... ><"

Kaderin Triste 10-10-2017 07:35 PM

Time to see if I can find some super easy tutorials...
I actually have an apron pattern, but I have zero confidence that I can currently understand the pattern instructions enough to actually make it...

Den 10-10-2017 08:55 PM

another use for the fabric doll I'm practicing my ideas on is as a pincushion.

tsukiko 10-11-2017 11:28 AM

kaderin, aprons are super super easy. when i was working at a craft store in cali, they required all employees to make their own aprons....in the words of 'office space': "for the flair". i messed mine up with the pattern they had us use...but the fabric counter ladies helped walk me through it. i was over-complicating it xD a couple years ago, i made my oldest sister's family aprons just using some simple ones from online. made a cute retro half one for my sister, what looked like a bbq apron for her husband, modified a "dish towel apron" pattern for one of my nieces and winged one using an outline on tissue paper to make one small enough for my nephew. they actually came out really good too. so search online for 'easy free apron patterns'. something will come up that you can use/understand ^__^ and if you want to use fat quarters for it, i've never used them before, BUT my suggestion would be to stitch them together in rows until you have a big enough "piece" of material. so like....idk 4 or 5 in each row, and then make 3+ rows of the fat quarters depending on the length you want it, and then sew the "rows of quarters" together....add some trim if you want to the bottom/sides and use double fold bias tape OR wide ribbon for the ties. i like using the bias tape cause it holds up better with the tying and untying, but ribbon can totally be usable (and a bit cheaper; when i made the family aprons, i had gotten some leftover fabric from the sister i live with's boyfriend's mom. so i wasn't too upset money-wise to have to shell out about $10 in supplies -good thread, bias tape, trim, contrasting liner fabric, etc- ) and adding a pocket is super easy with fat quarters. you can just angle it at one of the corners and fold down the top corner to make a triangle.

edit: maybe november's craft-a-long can be aprons xD (drawing or sewing or whatever) cause tis the season for baking, right? right? xD

Damies 10-11-2017 09:19 PM

Uggggh today has been a day.
Spent an hour and a half at the doctor getting blood drawn, doing a urine pregnancy test (which is bullshit) and having them put a shot in my butt for birth control (which is period control for me cuz my period is insane), then drove to town and got some lights for the porch and the house, and some gloves for work, then picked up a friend at the college and took her home then spent 2 hours cleaning the garage.

It is now 6:18pm and I have only eaten a cheese burger today to fuel this insanity.
