*starts looking up different root veggies, inspired by a conversation she and Tam are having*

Damies 10-22-2017 01:46 PM

Made a hooded cape last night and it was a pain in the butt cuz my friend who it is for is a pain in the butt. xD

Den 10-22-2017 06:56 PM

So I had mom help me pin the sides in on a dress I've had as a WIP for ages... I'm going to be working on it in a bit and get it DONE, Though I'll probably have to take it in again in a few months...

ZenKitty 10-22-2017 07:40 PM

Does that mean you're losing a lot of weight Den? Congrats if that's the case - that is IF you are wanting that to happen. :P

We're making a bunch of scrapbooked bookmarks for our NaNoWriMo goodie bags. Does that count as a horrible hobby activity?

Den 10-22-2017 07:42 PM

Yeah. I'm wanting to eventually be around 155-160 pounds. the last time I got weighed, I was at 223, and I started at 257.

ZenKitty 10-22-2017 07:44 PM

That's awesome! Congratulations! Are you doing anything special to make this happen?

trystan830 10-22-2017 08:04 PM

that's awesome, Den!

Den 10-22-2017 08:38 PM

I've started cutting back on pop, replaced it with sparkling water that has 0 sugar in it (infused with fruit flavors because I like my fizzies), and since I'm feeling better mentally and physically from where I was last year, I'm feeling up to moving and walking more. Plus, I'm paying more attention to how much I eat, and learning to recognize when I'm full. I really don't deny myself treats when I've got access to them, but I do pay more attention to how much of 'em I eat.

ZenKitty 10-22-2017 09:12 PM

That sounds really sensible, Den and a plan that can be lived with.

Den 10-22-2017 10:51 PM

It's just what makes sense to me, based on what I've learned over time, and from stuff I've read both off and online. Plus, I like walking. I just wish I could get mom and dad to understand that when I'm in the basement, I'm working on stuff. and when I'm upstairs before they get home each day, I'm keeping an eye on the dog, and working on stuff, so walking is my thinking time and time for me to just BE.

tsukiko 10-25-2017 01:22 PM

congrats, den :D

i know i voted on this month's project, but apparently i can't carve pumpkins. so there will be nothing from me this month. i tried and it looks like a baby with duplo blocks carved my pumpkin. blegh....*holes up away from people*

Derpy waddles over and tugs on your skirt, then points at your pumpkin. "I helped!" 8D

Sythe: That looks awesome!

Thank you! I also made a cardboard chair that works, the inside looks like something out of game of thrones though.

tsukiko 10-26-2017 06:40 PM

so creative, scythe. ^__^

Den 10-26-2017 07:18 PM

I started a sweater... okay, technically, it's the third attempt at the sweater. Since I've lost weight, I'm going to try and make it per the pattern, just on a needle one size up.

tsukiko 10-26-2017 08:23 PM

you can do it, den! :D

Den 10-26-2017 09:43 PM

I'm tempted to wind the yarns I'm using into a ball, just to make it easier on me.

tsukiko 10-26-2017 11:17 PM

would that really help? i tried that once when i was learning how to knit. all that accomplished for me was 2 very furry dirty balls of purple yarn. i swear they collected anything that was airborne in the room @___@ when i made my yarn tail, i kept it in the skein, seemed to work better for that at least.

Kaderin Triste 10-26-2017 11:43 PM

Good luck, Den! I'm sure you can do it!

Tsukiko: I imagine it depends on the yarn and which tail Den is working off of. If the skein has a center-pull tail, it's usually not too bad, though it might snag a little initially, but if the center-pull is too hard to find or you don't know about it and go from the outer one, it can be a pain to unroll/use, whereas a ball will unroll easier without all the fighting with it.

Den 10-26-2017 11:46 PM

center pull. I will spend the time to untangle if it means getting a nice center pull, which is easier for me to deal with. The yarn is less likely to run away on me that way.

Kaderin Triste 10-27-2017 12:16 AM

It took me ages to realize that most yarn actually has a center pull. XD
It is so much easier!

Den 10-27-2017 04:50 PM

it's cold and windy outside, so perfect knitting weather.

trystan830 10-27-2017 07:01 PM

i love the center pull in skeins of yarn!

Den 10-28-2017 12:35 AM

Figures that I can't find my preferred pencil for drawing when I wanna draw.

SparX 10-29-2017 01:36 AM

Isn't that the case everytime Den?

I did a thing
not really
but somewhat
I bought these skull lights at michaels and repainted one so far

Den 10-31-2017 12:47 AM

tfw you remember that tomorrow is Halloween, and you spaced out on working on a costume, print off the stuff to make a pepakura/foam helmet, realize you don't have enough foam, then discover another pepakura file you'd printed off ages ago, and set to making that...

Damies 10-31-2017 01:47 AM

I made soap today. It was a pretty spectacular fail on the color side but everything else has gone well so far.

SparX 10-31-2017 09:39 AM

I never finished my halloween mask =3

tsukiko 10-31-2017 01:17 PM

blegh! seems like I'm the only one dressed up at work. wtf.... >___> people suck....*superficially cries*

Den 10-31-2017 07:52 PM

we had 7 kids show up over the course of two hours, so mom let me close up trick-or-treating shop early. Bonus: I get two bags of candy to myself.

trystan830 10-31-2017 07:54 PM

on the other hand, i ran out of candy about 10 after 7. :(

(usually the trick-or-treating goes until about 8)

tsukiko 10-31-2017 11:04 PM

we turned off our light at 8...we got about 25-30 kids ^__^ better than last year's like 10 xD

trystan830 10-31-2017 11:09 PM

all i know is i gave out all my candy. i should have counted the bars... but i didn't. *sigh*

tsukiko 10-31-2017 11:23 PM

bwahahahahahaaaa!but it was fun seeing all the kiddos dressed up, right?

trystan830 10-31-2017 11:40 PM

yes it was! =D
