It does look like something interesting. I like to believe I'm good at coming up with something on the spot if necessary, so perhaps as long as I don't end up being required to write more than 10 posts in a session I'll probably be okay with this.

Suzerain of Sheol 06-15-2011 11:28 PM

So, I'm wondering, without any sort of rules, how does one go about adjudicating things? Would it just be up to my discretion? (I'd like to think I'm responsible enough to handle that.)

CupcakeDolly 06-15-2011 11:32 PM

It's your baby, so run it however you'd like. If someone's being bad, send them a PM and tell them to "change this" or "knock that off," or else they're kicked. That's really all you can do. xD Very worst case scenario, involve a site mod.

Suzerain of Sheol 06-15-2011 11:41 PM

Oh, I meant more in-game. Like, deciding if players are able to do something they want to do, as in success or failure.

CupcakeDolly 06-15-2011 11:58 PM

Hm... I'm not sure. Every RP I've ever been in has basically been every player writing a chunk of a story from their character's point of view. So whatever they want to do, they just do it, and if it's too outrageous the mod tells them so.

Suzerain of Sheol 06-16-2011 12:05 AM

Oh, okay. That's easy enough.

CupcakeDolly 06-16-2011 12:10 AM

xD Forum roleplaying is like DnD with most of the innards ripped out...

Quiet Man Cometh 06-16-2011 12:47 AM

Heh. That's a good way to put it. Another way might be to look at it as another group story of sorts. My current RP had only a basic launch point and we're working on it as we go. Running the thing for me bascially means I field any questions people have about joining or playing and referee the action. Not much else has been required.

Suzerain of Sheol 06-16-2011 12:49 AM

Well, I'll have the setting fleshed out enough to let the story go pretty much wherever the players want it to, hopefully (within reason). I imagine there's a balance to be struck between guiding them along and letting them run free, no?

Quiet Man Cometh 06-16-2011 12:54 AM

Mediate, is the term I'd use. You will have a character yourself after all, or so it's been in most of the RP's I've seen.

Suzerain of Sheol 06-16-2011 12:54 AM

Oh, I didn't know that. Not used to that, from DnD. ;)

CupcakeDolly 06-16-2011 12:56 AM

Yup, a DM in this kind of RP would be next to useless. =P So you get a character all your very own.

Espy 06-16-2011 12:58 AM

Wait, I heard roleplaying?

Suzerain of Sheol 06-16-2011 12:58 AM

Well, all right then. I will take that under advisement.

Edit@ Ninja Espy: ...maybe. *shifty eyes*

Quiet Man Cometh 06-16-2011 12:59 AM

Part of the fun I find is seeing what comes up from the interaction within the setting.

Espy 06-16-2011 01:02 AM

Come on, come on. Fill meh in. Trisphee RP?
