I'm looking forward to seeing the new Blade Runner, I've only heard good things about it. I'm sure boyfriend will rent it as it's available on the playstation network lol.

Do you know which Blade Runner version you saw, trystan? There appears to be a big divide over which version is superior: the theatrical cut or the director's cut (the unicorn scene being a big topic I think). I've only seen the director's cut. I picked up the "Final Cut" on blu-ray for cheap a bit back, but I'm not sure which version it has, or if it's a new edit. I know people were griping that it didn't have the theatrical release on it.

Man in the High Castle is sitting on my shelf as well. ;).

What go me about P.K. Dick was the stuff I knew that was his. Blade Runner, plus Total Recall and Minority Report were based on his stuff. Memory was apparently a thing for him. His episode of Prophets of Science Fiction was interesting. If I could get the whole series on DVD or something, I'd buy it. I think there's only maybe one season.

Updated my reading challenge! One book per month, and half of them must from my shelf. And no, I cannot read two books in January and say I'm done until March. those just go in the bonus reading pile. ;)

I've seen two versions of Blade Runner. I MUCH prefer the director's cut, but I also saw the theatrical release version. We really don't need the cheesy voice overs stuff I'm so glad that was removed from the film. -_- I haven't seen any other versions, but from what I've read online the differences are small.

trystan830 12-29-2017 05:01 PM

hmm... i know i saw the theatrical version. but i also have the director's cut, and i may have seen that too. my DVDs have like 3 or 4 versions. XD

and while i've seen Total Recall and Minority Report, i haven't read the source material for them.

Quiet Man Cometh 12-29-2017 07:31 PM

Minority Report is another of those things where I didn't like the themes I was seeing in the trailer, so I didn't watch the movie. I've seen Total Recall with Arnie a few times though, but not the remake. I was surprised because I didn't know those were based off of anything. I think they were short stories. Not sure.

Speaking of stories to film, I have a request in with the local used bookstore to flag me if they ever get a copy of The Hellbound Heart. It's proving elusive still. My whole regional library doesn't have a copy anywhere, but I keep checking.

there's a remake of Total Recall?? yeesh.

pretty sure i read Hellbound Heart ages ago (like, in the 90s when it new XD.... and after i'd seen 2 of the Hellraiser movies XD

I read The Scarlet Gospels this year and I liked Barker's writing so I'm looking into more of his stuff.
