The only reason that the books are discounted online is because it cuts out the production cost, and its easier for authors to get things published online because it costs less money for the production companies so they are more willing to take chances on new authors.

I mean, I do get people prefering paper and such, I mean don't get me wrong I love love love looking at my full five shelf bookshelf overflowing onto another one... buuuut... I have no more room. XD Still, it's got a sense of pride.

But this is just too damn convenient when we have -despite living in a large city- only a few used book stores on the other side of town from me -and in the bad neighborhoods for that matter- and a couple normal bookstores in town, the nearest being a good 15 minute drive still. XD

There's a new nook. I want it. So bad. but I'll wait for it to come out and see if I can check it out in stores and see if it's worth buying. LoL

Kotomi 05-29-2011 07:54 AM

I want to get one, my cousin and boyfriend both have one, they have let me use it a few times, so I would say I like it
found in some of my classes the books like in literature class
some in class who got one said they paid less than $1 for one or more of the stories each or together it all depends on the story
likes likes some of the word games they have, there is this dragon one I played before

Airina 05-29-2011 04:31 PM

I personally really like mine. i don't know how the nook is like, but the kindle it actually reads just like a normal book. Which is really really nice for me.

Azrael 05-29-2011 05:07 PM

Nook is like that as well. Well, the regular nook. Not the colour.

Airina 05-29-2011 05:21 PM

Yea I haven't looked at the color, cuz it came out after i got my kindle.

Azrael 06-01-2011 11:30 PM

The colour is cool for people who just need it for home, but the nook is good for people who: A) don't charge things often B) need it for long trips, probably in an airplane.

Also better for your eyes cause it's the e-ink.

Fiyero 06-02-2011 03:22 AM

I dont really like them...its not the same as holding a book in your hand..but it IS nice that, when you order a book, it arrives very quickly to your device.

If they weren't so expensive, I would consider getting one.

Azrael 06-02-2011 03:33 AM

Mmm, maybe it's just cause I have a job and no bills, but they're just a lil over 100$. Putting money away, even just 25$ or something would only take a few paychecks to get up to one... I don't think that's too bad. But perhaps that's me. >3<'

The books are cheaper, you can get them any time... ~shrug~ but ya.

Fiyero 06-02-2011 04:30 AM

Well, I DO have a job, but I have a crap ton of bills..so...hah
I DO have the iBooks thing on my iPod, and I have a few free books on there, which is cool..but I still think I'd prefer to have an 8$ book to worry about than a $100+ piece of technology.

Lucifer 06-02-2011 11:41 AM

I got one of the $114 Kindles a couple weeks ago through my work, same day got over 46 free books for it. xD
I keep finding some pretty amazing authors I'd never heard of before, like HP Mallory I read one of her books and had to buy the sequel in the series and books 1 and 2 of another series of hers, and the two Amarinthe Saga books out by Joleene Naylor.
I love the heart and stories these new authors seem to think up, they're pretty awesome. :D

Ashley 06-03-2011 12:14 PM

I prefer reading actual books, but I think an ereader would be useful if I was going on a trip or such. I wouldn't want to have to carry a ton of books with me XD. I should ask for an ereader as my graduation gift <.<

Airina 06-03-2011 09:37 PM

Its really nice off at college cuz i don't have room.... but i still love my actual books!

Kalei 06-25-2011 05:06 PM

I has a Kindle<3. It's me and my dads technicly, but I use it most of the time so I kind of consider it mine. I like it becaust it's simple to use because the controls are on the outside. It's also neat how it looks like a real book. My only complaints are that it's not the best to read manga on because the screens so small (kinda goes for allot of other e-readers to)and the internet feature is slow.

Airina 07-01-2011 07:29 PM

Yea it is sometimes which is frustrating, but oh well it's super nice off at college i get books and since both me and my mom have them she can buy a book and it will come onto my kindle.

Experiment 07-02-2011 03:14 AM

I don't really want one.
I mean they're cool and space agey and such, but there's just nothing that can replace the feeling of a book in your hands.

One of the funnest parts of reading is going to the bookstore or library and finding a book that really interests you.

I dunno, I'll probably end up getting one when I'm older for convenience, but I think I'll stick to the mustiness of a book for now.
