I thought that the story was one of the best things about Black and White. It didn't really have much else going for it, because it didn't really bring about much of a change in mechanics. 2nd gen added two new types and split the "special" stat into special attack and defense. RBE added abilities, EVs, IVs, natures, and a lot of new items that had a profound impact on the game. 4th gen brought the "physical-special split", which made it so that moves were not physical or special based on their type. Before that, any Pokemon whose offensive stats didn't match its type was screwed.
And then Black and White brought... Dream World? Perhaps I'm just bitter that I'm too technologically incompetent to access it, but it seems like a step down to me. It also added automatic sun and rain. Screw that. I hope that X and Y have an even more satisfying story, because I'm not really sure what else they could add. I guess they could give Flareon some moves. Wait a second... this isn't the competitive battling forum. Ummm... carry on. |
Apparently, Gamefreak is slightly changing up the "formula" in X and Y. People are predicting 2 new types will be introduced, Sound and Light. (Thinking about it... It would make sense considering no one can identify Xerneas's typing.) A sound Type sound very plausible, considering there are a lot of "sound like" moves in Pokemon.
I just hope Gamefreak will finally decide to make Charizard, Gyradose, and other Dragon like pokemon the official Dragon Typing. Change the numberings a bit so the Nidorans are the same number/pokemon (which they are... Just back in the RBY times there were no pokemon genders.) And other logical fixes they can change to the Pokemon/Pokedex in general. Most of all, I wish Gamefreak will explore all possibilities with DLC. It would be amazing to see new storylines that will unlock legendary Pokemon to you that were IN GAME. And not the lame, here's a free pokemon and a possible small side event once you get the Pokemon. |
The idea of new types is certainly intriguing, and could have a profound impact on the usability of some Pokemon. Unfortunately, I just don't think it's likely. Introducing new types, when they already have so many pokemon, would result in a notable shortage of those types, when compared to pre-existing types. While some Pokemon that already exist could fit as light or sound, (Exploud comes to mind)they would still be quite rare.
I can't really think of how sound or light would interact with other types. Light would probably be super effective against dark and ghost, but I don't know what would be good against it. I can't really think of anything that sound would be good or bad against. Though one thing can be said for sure: If new types are made, they will be bad against steel. Because everything is. Steel and Dark were mostly introduced in 2nd gen because Psychic was ridiculously overpowered as a type. The only types good against it were bug and ghost, which sucked for plentiful reasons. Dragon is arguably overpowered, but I'm not sure it's enough to warrant a new type. But I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't excited for new types. |
i dont like the idea of new types and i do seriously doubt that theyre going to add new typings. i am however excited for the 3d pokemon world(not the 3ds effect) im curious as to how its going to turn out.

I've heard speculation that the 6th gen region will be based on France, like how Unova was based on the US. I actually did notice that Pikachu was standing on top of the Eiffel Tower for the trailer. It sounds like a pretty neat idea to me. They have architecture in France, right?

They're also brave enough to erect an unapologetically phallic structure, then declare it a symbol of their culture. So that's pretty cool.
And yes, my choice of verb was quite deliberate. |
it might be based off europe cos there were some other european landmarks i noticed aswell. also, isnt there a building in tokyo that looks like the eiffel tower?
|
I seem to recall reading somewhere that there are a lot of buildings over the world that are based on the Eiffel Tower. It wouldn't be too surprising to learn that one was in Japan.
For future reference, whenever I say I read something "somewhere", that almost invariably means that I read in on Cracked. |
Tokyo Tower is similar but not exact to the tower in france... oxo,
also.. NEW EEVEE EVO! http://www.serebii.net/xy/ninfia.jpg x3 wootz |
It's so PINK and so CUTESY! What type is it? :O
|
No one knows yet :3 the magazine only gives its height and weight
Its first Appearance will be in the new pokemon movie which will be in Japan Theaters in July.. DVD release should be around the time the games are released in October. Might be a new Type :3 Its soooo cute I wants one D: *goes to breed a shiz ton more eevee to prepare for this new one* *u* |
Omg I want it!
|
This Pokemon (That I'm assuming is a Eevee evolution) makes me believe more and more that there will be introducing Light Type Pokemon.
It will make the whole Xerneas Typing a lot more sense then steel/grass or a normal type. That and there is a lot of Pokemon that can use a Light typing (Sunflora, Bellossom, and maybe even mew or Cresselia) |
Solarbeam becomes light attack :O
|
That would be awesome! :D
I hope that the rumored Sound type is true also. |
GIVE ME THAT EEVEE
|
...... it is 3 feet tall and 50 lbs....
|
LET ME LOVE LOVE YOU EEVEEVOLUTION!
|
I cannot imagine what typing this eeveelution could possibly have that I would find satisfying. From it's coloring, I believe it most likely to be a normal type, as its color scheme seems nearly identical to that of Audino's. The problem with that is that a Normal-type Eeveelution would be stupid. Eevee is already normal, and no one wants more normal Pokemon. Any other typing would be inconsistent with its coloring and general appearance. The only other type I could imagine would be psychic, which is already occupied by Espeon.
There is some speculation that it could be dual-type, but that doesn't solve the problem. It just means that there are 2 types that don't make sense, rather than one. I've explained my feelings on new types previously in this thread, but to recap: It's too late. If a new type were introduced, it would find itself severely underrepresented, even if some old Pokemon were retconned to have that new type. Also, while light would probably be good against ghost and dark, it's hard to think of what it would be ineffective against, or how any of sound's type match-ups would go. Perhaps it could be a neutral type that is neither bad nor good against anything, but that position is more-or-less covered by dragon-type. Even if it were a light type, I have faith in Game Freak to construct a sprite that conveys Light better than this, as there is little to suggest that as its typing. And, as long as I'm being a crotchety old man, I might as well point out that Ninfia is just it's Japanese name. They're not breaking away from the "-eon" suffix. Leafeon and Glaceon had the Japanese names Leafia and Glacia, so this makes sense. "Ninfia" also does nothing to indicate its type, at least with respect to the English Language, so it seems unlikely that they would decide to break the trend of giving eeveelutions type significant names. But with the right stats and ability, I'd probably like him, regardless. |

That said, it just doesn't look like "light" to me. If the coloring was more prismatic, I could see it, but pink with a few blue spots doesn't seem like light to me. But it doesn't look like fighting, dragon, ghost, or any other type either. Also, if they were introducing sound types as well, I would think there would be an eeveelution for both sound and light, not just one of them. But maybe there's another eeveelution or maybe it's only one new type. Who knows. |
nin (忍) is a phono-semantic compound composed of two greater characters. The upper character ha or jin (刃) is the phonetic indicator; it means "edge of the sword". The lower character kokoro or shin (心) means "heart" or "soul". The compound means "stealth", "secrecy", "endurance", "perseverance", and "patience".
nin in the direct translation means "shinobi" >.> it doesnt look very ninja-y to me <.< @lucid i think they mean weight wise, thats why people think it may be flying https://i.chzbgr.com/maxW500/7060046336/h687B5D26/ |
lol ashy that is a creepy picture
|
xD I know they meant weight-wise, I just thought it was funny.
I guess it looks about as flying-type as Shaymin, which doesn't look flying-type at all. |
