"Out! That's it! Get out!" the manager gave them a shove.
Randy VIII made sure to shove him right back on the way out, harder than was perhaps necessary.
Klaus waited until they were outside before he burst out laughing, "That was good!"
Randy giggled a bit. "Why you wanna go 'round gettin' into trouble?"
"Well yes, I could do with some excitement," said Klaus.
"I gotcha," said Randy with a nod. "Well, excitement's good... but I never did get to eat any seafood."
"We can find other places to get food, the night is still young!" said Klaus putting an arm around Randy's shoulder.
Randy's grin returned. "Oh, sug'... C'mon, then!"
Klaus took him to a smaller place where they each got a box of fried squid and crab bites. "Not my usual, but not bad," said Klaus as he chewed a tentacle.
Randy watched him. "Mm, I like the look a' that," he said before sticking a few tentacles into his own mouth.
"You know, we're right near the harbor, want to take a walk while we eat?" asked Klaus.
"You betcha." Randy stood, very nearly reaching seven feet in his heels, and picked up his food before heading outside.
Klaus walked with Randy along the shore, "So what have you been up to lately?" he asked.
"Well, nothin' outta the ordinary..." Randy went on to explain the arrangement he'd had with Jones and the recent events involving Cat.
"Jones...Jones...should I know that name?" Klaus asked, "It sounds familiar..."
Randy flashed him a mental image of Jones and raised an eyebrow expectantly.
"Oh that! Yes I see him from time to time....can't say I know him very well," said Klaus.
"He's nice enough, but a helluva square," said Randy. "How 'bout you?"
"Just business as usual," said Klaus, "I'm a lonely old codger with limited interests,"
"You an' me oughtta go out more," Randy suggested with a playful wiggle.
Klaus gave him a kiss, "I think I'd like that,"
"Maybe you can meet some a' my friends," said Randy. "You sure as hell won't be bored."
"Why not? Lead me to them!" said Klaus with a rare smile.
Randy broke into a grin, licked him across the mouth, and pulled him in the direction of the car. "You ever been to Schickelgrubertonfieldvilleburginghamshire?"
"I was there on business once, but I didn't really do any exploring," said Klaus.
Randy whistled. "Shame on you, sug'. It's a beautiful place!"
"Well why don't you show me?" Klaus suggested, his soft grey eyes holding uncustomary warmth and the ends of his mustache curling upwards ever so slightly.
"A'right; I'd be happy to," Randy VIII replied. "Anything you think you'd wanna see or do?"
"Surprise me!" said Klaus, "I feel like being adventurous tonight."
"Adventurous it is!" Randy VIII took him to one of the smaller Schickelgruber clubs, a good bit farther past the border than his usual location, Black Coffee. This club was set in the middle of a large plane, where Schickelgrubers and blorknogs set up obstacle courses and raced vehicles of both human and alien design. The actual parking lot was located a fair distance from the racing ground, and the building itself was illuminated by images which moved and danced in time to music coming from inside. The sign above the door was in Schickelgruber, with no English translation.
"What's this place?" asked Klaus.
Randy read him the name, which sounded like a short burst of vocal cracks and whistles being made at the same time. "Old blorknog dialect," he explained; "basically means 'to leap before you look'. My friend Haphazard works here. It's a pretty fun place."
"Well, let's charge blindly into the unknown, shall we?" Klaus offered Randy his arm.
Randy howled in agreement, signifying their arrival into the establishment. They were greeted by a chorus of similar howls, including the loud and echoic cries of several blorknogs.
"Oh my! This is very different!" said Klaus, feeling nervous for the first time.
"Nice, though, huh?" Randy nodded to one side of the room where, past the sea of colorful manes and sharp teeth, there was an intimidating black chamber just large enough to fit two Schickelgrubers or blorknogs of decent size. "You wanna try the funbox?"
"What's it do?" asked Klaus, eyeing the box dubiously.
"Somethin' different every time," Randy replied with a grin. "'Course, there's a list of possibilities posted outside just in case... Basically, you put two people in the box, an' they can get hit with anything from temporary love potions to electricity. It's all randomized, so nobody knows what it's gonna be--just that it'd be somethin' from the list, you know, for safety purposes."
Klaus nodded, "Well, let's see what's in store!" he said pulling Randy into the box with him.
More jubilant howls filled the room and Randy paused to place his shoes on the floor nearby before the entrance to the box closed, encasing them in total darkness. "Never know; we might end up fightin' and I don't wanna scuff them gorgeous shoes," he giggled. "It'll start by itself. You ready?"
