Randy stepped into the house and in walked Randy VIII with a bandage on his head. "Early training has been recommended," stated Randy.
Seven ran to his brother, "You okay Baby Boy?" he asked scooping him up and nuzzling his head.
"Yeah... I'm OK," said Randy VIII. He nestled against Seven for a moment as though seeking comfort before drawing away. "They... they put a thing in my head."
"Does it hurt?" asked Seven, his eyes growing round with distress as he examined his brother.
"No, not really." Eight gave the bandage a tap to demonstrate. "They said it'd tell me whether people were registered into the system... like a portable database scanner."
"That's kinda neat," said Seven, giving Eight's hair a ruffle.
Eight smiled a bit. "Yeah. I don't hafta train today... You wanna hang out outside?"
"You know it! C'mon!" said Seven taking his brother's hand and leading him out.
Randy whistled to them as they left the house. "No fighting today!" he warned. Randy VIII gave him a wave of acknowledgement and hurried away with Seven.
"You nervous about your training Baby Boy?" asked Seven.
"Me? Nah." Randy VIII shook his head. It wasn't until they were well away from anyone else that he added, "Maybe a tiny bit."
Seven gave him a kiss, "Jus' remember, no matter what happens you'll always be my Baby Boy,"
"Yeah, yeah..." Randy VIII gave him a playful shove. "I'm not a baby no more," he said, preferring to keep things lighthearted rather than to bring up the implications of his class distinction.
Seven gave him a kiss, "Alright, if you say so,"
Randy VIII smiled and wrapped his arms around Seven. "But... I'm glad I have you," he admitted with a blush.
Seven kissed him, "Glad to have you too, Baby Boy, I love you,"
Randy VIII kissed him back, arms still wrapped tightly around his neck, and hopped up to wrap his legs about Seven's waist. He shimmied upward a few inches like a monkey on a tree so that their noses touched. "Are you movin' out next year?"
Seven chewed his lip, "I dunno yet....I might," he said, "It's about time,"
Randy VIII pouted. "I'mma miss you."
Seven hugged him close, "I'll miss you too," he said.
"Are you still gonna come when I go off to the training base?" asked Eight.
Seven gave him a squeeze and a kiss, "Of course I will!"
He smiled at that. "Good." He pressed his lips against Seven's again, this time with a little more meaning.
Seven was briefly taken aback, but he returned the kiss and it was just as meaningful.
Randy VIII smiled before hopping away from him. "Can't wrestle... but I can race you to the park," he challenged.
Seven dropped him and took off, "I'll get there first for sure!"
Eight shouted and went running after him just as fast as he could go, skillfully scampering over obstacles and darting down the sidewalk.
Seven laughed and looked behind him, then he slowed, his body pitching forward until he fell to the ground, shivering.
This caused Randy VIII to yell out for a different reason as he caught up to Seven and dropped down beside him. "Seven?" He immediately sent out a distress signal, the force of which gave him a slight headache due to his recent operation, though he hardly noticed. He had seen Seven take ill before, but it frightened him every time no matter how mild the episode may have been.
Seven was unresponsive, he lay on the ground, eyes squeezed shut as he shivered.
Randy VIII stayed near him until a medical vehicle arrived in response to his signal. Seven was transported into the vehicle for on-site treatment and his parents were alerted. Meanwhile, Randy VIII stood on the sidewalk alone, eyes brimming with tears as he bit his lip and waited.
Susan came up and put her arms around Randy VIII, "It's ok honey, Seven is going to be alright," she cooed.
"Why can't we just fix him?" Randy VIII wondered aloud, not caring how childish it may have seemed. With so much medical advancement, he resented the fact that Seven could still fall ill at any moment and the best he could do was to pray that it wasn't a serious episode...
Susan stroked his head, "Because we aren't really sure what's causing the problem so the doctors don't know what to fix," she explained.
Randy VIII frowned. "Well, why don't they find out?"
"It's not that easy," said Susan hugging him close.
A few angry tears dripped down Randy VIII's cheeks and he growled, all the while clinging to his mother. His eyes never left the medical truck.
One of the medics came back, pulled Susan to the side and said something to her in a low voice, Seven emerged from the medical truck, a breathing mask on his face, but he was conscious and standing.
Randy VIII rushed over to him. "What happened? What is that?" he questioned as he went to inspect him.
"It's to help me breath clean air," Seven said a bit raggedly.
