There are TONS of interesting things in Washington! We have beaches! We have rainforests! We have mountains! We have rivers! We also have museums! About science! And music! We have artistic glass! And fish! And sweet Ride the Ducks bus thingies! And that's just the western half! (There's nothing interesting on the eastern half though >.> )

I go between wanting to move somewhere cold or somewhere warm…. mostly cold…. with mountains…. and not Washington. Mostly because it is so far away.

You could move somewhere with non-extreme climate mebbe?

It is 70 F in NC right now… I am dying, and it isn't much better in the Mountain areas of NC atm….

I've experienced hail only once in my life.

Icky, hail causes a lot of damage to your car. I remember I was driving home from work and we had some extreme weather involving hail. Going 70 down the highway was impossible and the one guy that tried ended up breaking his windshield.

I hate storms. Until it starts to hail. Then I'm one of the idiots running out of their houses to pick up hailstones off the lawn. I have friends who can confirm this, and one of them's even a member here.

I remember when I was little. My mom and aunty were stuck in the car in front of the house due to some hail. I sat inside watching in terror thinking my mom was going to die.

Biggest worry here is that my home is surrounded by trees...

Well Law if you prune the trees correctly there shouldn't be much risk having trees around your house. And hail her is never severe here, we can get it almost all year round but mostly it's just like snow but a bit bigger, harder and round.

...we do mostly, but you are talking 30-50 trees that are ~20 feet tall...and 10 are dead. Those 10 are the concern.

Just cut them down then? My dad has been cutting down firs around his summer house all of last year both those he is allowed to and some he isn't.

Not really, i think an area should be noteworthy for what it do or what it strive for nor it's nature.

I would disagree on the silly bit. A society is diverse - makes its own traditions, art, and variation on beliefs, in part by how it relates to nature. (The other part in relation to socio-economics, but that's a foul term xD)

Washington is notable for what it does too.

Most state nicknames are about the nature of the state, actually. They were made up so long ago that the culture would have changed beyond the state nickname otherwise. Most of the ones that aren't based on natural features of the state are based on history.

The town in Washington I grew up in actually had quite a few leafy trees, too. Unsurprisingly, the town's name was Maple Valley. xD And of course there were also TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONS of evergreen trees in addition to the maple trees. It's such a beautiful area though.

Eh, that's a thing of context. Were it in a language that was more rule-oriented (where the suffix determined the entire meaning of the phrase) I'd agree.
