well. the two MLs have scheduled two so far... which are a fair enough distance from me.

yeah, i'll activate my novel... once i actually start up with it. XD

ZenKitty 10-29-2017 12:29 AM

Huh - there were 7 on the Google calendar when I checked, but they are only in two locations. (Spends way too much time on the NaNo website.)

You could always set one up yourself and see if anyone else would like to come. Might make some new NaNo friends that way.

trystan830 10-29-2017 12:38 AM

oh, there they are - i didn't scroll through. but they're quite a way from me, between 30 and 45 minutes from me. so, yeah.

there's also an intro thread on our forum, and someone else is in my town, maybe we can coordinate something near us. =)

*eyes Zen suspiciously* are you stalking me on the NaNo forum?* XD

(Realized before I went to bed last night that might have sounded creepy. Sorry about that.)

I'm interested in what other regions are doing so I follow a boatload of them and check in on others to get ideas for our region. I guess you could say I stalk a lot of regions. :P

This is especially true when I'm looking to travel during October and November to see if there are write ins where I might be going.

Did I mention I practically live on the NaNo site during NaNo Season? ;)

Death by Mirrors 10-29-2017 10:18 AM

Shh, I was attempting to use reverse psychology on Den. But maybe I'll just spike the food in here with writer's brew and maroon a few plot bunnies on the vegan table.

As you take a bite of the chicken empanada, you notice a strange taste. You have encountered it before - the spice of life, with just the right dash of creativity. While your stomach grumbles, all of a sudden you feel the sudden urge to sit down. The fluffy bunny to your left seems to grin. How can a bunny even grin? "Write!", it whispers. Holy cow. You could've sworn you only grabbed soft drinks from the table, and now... are you halluzinating? A vision forms in front of your eyes, but not of the blurry, alcohol-induced kind. You blink and stare at the novel that hovers in front of you. Your name on the cover. One of these unflattering photos in the back. But before you even got time to furrow your brow, the pages start turning all by themselves - and this is how your story unfolds.

ZenKitty 10-29-2017 10:29 AM

Ooo... You should consider doing NaNo Death by Mirrors. That was an awesome scene!

yeah, you might have mentioned that a time or 20. million. XD

but it makes sense for you to follow a number of regions, including where your friends/writing buddies are. i guess my region shows up in my profile.

@Death - that sounds really good - maybe that's the opening paragraph of you NaNo novel.... you know you want to take that trip down the plot bunny rabbit hole.... XD

Hush. My pleasure is to corrupt other people, not be drawn into some month long madness *innocent smile*

So what are you guys writing? Or still undecided?

ZenKitty, your story sounds quite interesting, like an adult version of Animorphs. Loved that series when I was younger, even though I vaguely remember it gets pretty grim later on. What powers does she get exactly?

trystan830 10-29-2017 01:39 PM

Death, i hope to hopefully complete a time-travel romance novel i've had in progress for quite some time....i've done some recalculations, and i think i'm actually about 7/8 complete!

but.... i left off with one of the characters about to ask another for advice - but i have no notes as to what the question is to be. i suspect i'll figure it out once i've completed my current read of what i have written thus far

Don't think I ever saw Animorphs.

I'm still fleshing everything out. Having a concept for the novel was a feat considering how much time I've been spending getting everything ready for the events. I was thinking about having her be an influencer and energizer but she doesn't realize it. She thinks, [hero] you really should do x and he does it kind of thing. But like I said, I'm trying to flesh it out. Meeting with 3 of my friends tomorrow to try to brainstorm ideas and get things a little more clear in my head. Wish me luck.

My first thought was to make the hero kind of bumbling like Thermoman in the British TV series "My Hero." The comedic aspect would be fun to write. Not sure though if it will pan out that way or not though.

Den 10-29-2017 08:53 PM

Animorphs started out as a teen book series... I was pretty obsessed with it...

Death by Mirrors 10-30-2017 06:29 AM

Ah yes, I can see how that power would go unnoticed for a while. For most part it would seem like a "great minds think alike" scenario, until maybe she thinks hero should do something she knows he normally wouldn't, and then she's all "Whoa, wait - he really acted this much against his own idea?"

It would be fun if she influenced him at some point to do something weird because she doesn't yet realize it's her who makes him do stuff. Sort of like the "I wish your whole family would kiss my ass and be my slaves" scene in 10th kingdom, if you've been following Glitch's movie night. Some strange spur of the moment wish that has absolutely nothing to do with the overall mission.

Time travel! That's one of the powers I'd personally love to have, if only to see how life was in different eras. I don't know if you've ever seen Midnight in Paris, but I secretly wish there was indeed a stair somewhere that you could visit at midnight to have a car or carriage pick you up and bring you to a gathering that happened long ago, to meet people of the past.

Good luck to both of you, be it for brainstorming or figuring out how that story was supposed to continue ^^

ZenKitty 10-30-2017 10:20 AM

Just googled Animorphs. I looks like it was a good series of books.

The idea of making the hero inadvertently do something weird crossed my mind. That scene would be fun to write. Thanks Death By Mirrors.

Tangentially - Can you tell me how your screen name originated? That would make a great novel, I'm sure.
NaNo, hint, hint.

trystan830 10-30-2017 11:13 AM

while i'd love to time travel, i'm not sure i'd want to stay in any particular time period in history.

however, i'd like a do-over of election day 2016 though....

Rainbowfox Ari 10-30-2017 12:43 PM

Oh, writing talk?
I'm working on a screenplay / radio-drama at the moment. -Nodnod-

I still need voices. XD

Death by Mirrors 10-30-2017 03:19 PM

Haha, no - I'm not going to write a novel about my username! Something else, mmmmmmaaaaaaayyyyyybe

@Ari: I would volunteer, but I have a weird accent and a shit microphone :p-cool:

Rainbowfox Ari 10-30-2017 04:56 PM

Willingness is appreciated. XD
I can't find anyone to do it.

Den 10-30-2017 05:56 PM

Plans for tonight... I'm gonna be playing with candles and incense. lol Samhain, aka Halloween, is tomorrow night.

dragoness129 10-31-2017 10:21 PM

Candles and Incense is nice. It's tonight for myself.

Den 10-31-2017 10:31 PM

my dad gripes about me burning incense. the stupid thing is, he smokes cigarettes that smell much worse.

dragoness129 10-31-2017 11:09 PM

That is ridiculous! Incense does smell much better than cigarettes.

Den 11-01-2017 12:00 AM

ikr? he also gives me shit for drinking diet soda.

Death by Mirrors 11-01-2017 09:36 AM

I've heard diet soda can cause problems if you drink too much of it, but same holds true for a lot of things. *shrug* Either way, I'd definitely choose incense over cigarettes any time.

Den 11-01-2017 06:41 PM

You're not going to get out of this life alive. Might as well enjoy stuff.

dragoness129 11-08-2017 05:10 PM

Yes! Enjoy all of the stuff!
