Mary and Percy (i know them that well, huh?) were just in an episode of Doctor Who the other week! :D
how's this for HPL being racist - he made up his own race to be racist against too! o_O |
Quote:
HPL made up several races. Which one would this be? |
the people. i've watched all the Doctor Who there is to watch, and even some of the older episodes that all they had was the audio. some they used production stills for, some they animated the parts. it's very cool.
well, the Fishmen, for starters. it's also been quite some time since i've read any HPL, actually. |
Ah. I think the fishmen count more as monstrosities as they are fish-human hybrids without a mention of an actual ethnicity. Cultists, creepy people, uneducated masses etc, all tend to be non-white, or white but really poor.
|
ah, that's true. like i said, it's been a while since i've actually read his stuff
|
now that exams are almost over, i want to continue reading for fun again! will start with fanfiction, probably. i have a bunch i've got downloaded to read.
|
I haven't been counting my fanfiction or I'd probably a few large books more in terms of word count. Still sitting on the two books I'm technically reading, and trying to decide if I should just grab the third I'm interested in or knock at least of of these off.
|
grad the third with the stipulation you need to read one of the two you already have?
|
Finish a book first! Don't be like me!
XD Good news, around chapter 7, Frankenstein has picked up a bit. Am making slightly faster progress in it. May finish it this weekend. |
Was too optimistic about my actually reading over the weekend. Did not finish Frankenstein. But am actually not too far from the end and might finish it sometime this week. As long as I don't pick up any loom projects instead. Lol
|
yaay for almost finishing!
|
Frankenstein is done! Wooo!
...and then instead of moving on to another partially read book, I picked up a new one. Technically a re-read, but I was going through and realized I'd bought the sequel, but hadn't read it yet so rereading the first book then reading the second book. |
yaay!
and fair enough on the reread. i'm still reading my current book, i have 6 chapters left, and these are pretty good length chapters |
Lol. But I shouldn't be rereading anything until I finish the partially read books on my list from last year!
Although I may take at least one of them off my list for now as it really is a struggle to get through, so I may save it for later if I ever get my life figured out and have a more set schedule for my crafts and things so I'm not always feeling overwhelmed. XD Basically just save it for later when I hopefully have more time to devote to it. |
ok then, put down the reread, slowly back away, and go finish another partially read book from last year! XD
|
Yeah, I need to unbury some of them, they got tucked behind some stuff a couple weekends ago while I was shuffling stuff around, but if I unbury them maybe I'll get back to tackling them. Though, tbh, I'm actually on a pretty good pace so far. At least compared to last year. Lol
|
so... go unbury them and get reading. :D
|
I will! But probably not until tomorrow since I won't be home from work until after 6:30 and then I have actual projects to work on.
|
okay.... but don't forget! :)
|
But forgetting is half the fun!
|
hmm.... if you insist.
i finished my current book, on to the next library book. then probably back to Sidney Sheldon |
Only approx 2 hours until I'm home from work (30 min of work + 1 hour walking + 30 min shopping on the way home because I need thread and a small storage tote box and maybe groceries)! Let's see if I can forget to reorganize my books in that amount of time!
8D |
i did my shopping online. yaay! i have like three things (well, really more like 6, but 4 are in the same area) that i have to go in the store and get, and then pick up the rest of my order :)
|
Being at work, I didn't have the luxury of shopping online. Plus I needed a specific color of thread anyway so I needed to color match with the fabric I bought. Debating the storage tote purchase tonight, but stopping by Target to look anyway since it's on the way home. And may at the very least pick up some small toys for Derpy/me. XD
|
nah, it's only groceries i order online now. XD
|
Ah, I can't do that. Just because I lack a car so my main grocery store is just a small local one that doesn't have online orders. But it's only 4 blocks from my apartment.
|
GiantDirect also delivers, for like $8.95. XD
but it's good that your grocery store is that close though. :) |
Yeah...it's okay for basic supplies, but the produce section is practically nonexistent, which sucks. I can at least get my braeburn apples though.
|
that sounds frustrating though.
|
It can be. In the summer I can work around it more because the weather's nicer so my coworkers at Joann are less insistent about giving me rides home so I can pick stuff up on the way home as long as it's not too heavy (since it's only about 1.5 blocks closer to home than Joan is, which still puts it at almost 2 miles), but in the winter, it's harder since I seldom have a chance to actually shop anywhere else.
Also...have picked up toys for Derpy... >.> |
oof, you have my sympathies.
i'd offer you to share my car, but i need it over here with me... XD |
Slowly getting back to books. Woo quarantine reading!
|
yanno.... i got my current book out from the library back at the beginning of March, and i thing it was originally due something like March 18th. it's now due May 18th..... and i still have 6 chapters left! XD
my reading has slowed considerably! |
I've probably been reading about my average still probably.
On the days when I'm not being super lazy and doing nothing, I try to either craft, read, or both. Since "shelter at home" orders started here I've probably only read a few chapters, but should be finishing 1 book later this week I'd estimate. If I keep up with trying to balance crafts and reading anyway. |
when i worked the entire week, i'd read when i first got into my desk job with my breakfast, then i'd read a little at lunch. on the weekends (Fri/Sat/Sun) i would stop at a fast-food place for lunch (dinner on Sundays) after my weekend job, i'd read while during my meal.
now? I'm only in the office for 2 days, and i actually really do need all those 6 hours (5-1/2) to get everything done. the days I'm home (which is the other 5 days now), I've been making it a point to try to not have lunch at my laptop, but move to the kitchen table so i can read while I'm eating. that's why I'm up to chapter 36 out of 41 finally. XD |
The JoAnn here closed last Wednesday, but until then, my schedule's mostly been the same.
Since I do janitorial at the museum, I'm basically working 8:30am-1:30pm Mon-Fri. No lunch time or before work time to read, but pretty much the whole afternoon and also 2 full days off on the weekend to work on stuff. But with my schedule thrown off so much, depression brain likes to take over a lot and it's hard to get the energy and focus to actually work on stuff or read. Or do literally anything other than lay on my bed watching the YouTube videos I downloaded while at work. |
i haven't worked at Michael's since March 13th. but i asked my manager if he heard anything about a new opening date (he'd originally told me April 19th, and i know that's not right, PA still has a stay-at-home order until April 30th. he said we opened last week for ship-to-store orders (you buy online, send it to the store, and you pick it up there); next week is for buy online, pick up curbside. maybe early May we'll open up again. we shall see, of course.
|
so yaaay! i finished my library book!
now i have to wait for the library to reopen.... |
