Hm.....I'm thinking~ I tend to go overly deep with plot, so forgive me if this takes me til Monday to get figured out. XD

I like the ideas of increasing difficulty in the game, forcing the players to get tougher or die. Not to mention the whole real-world noticing thing. All of it sounds good.

As for the demon one, there wouldn't be many sanctified grounds left. Death was rampant due to fighting, terrified humans. One would be lucky to find one or two places of worship that hadn't been tainted by violent death in a city the size of New York or Los Angeles. The cities are less safe, but safer than the wastes and there are more people to help protect each other. They'd be like concentration camps, though focused more on keeping things out rather than people in. Monsters can and do get in, usually causing some serious damages whether by property damage or killing people (or both). Most people that live in the cities tend to be very tense and reactive with each other, making it much like the demons aren't only outside the electrified barriers. It's essentially debasing most of the human culture into becoming little better than animals fighting for survival and less than the animals outside (not the demons but regular animals that have managed to survive themselves despite becoming prey as well) that have understood pack/herd/flock mentalities for the betterment of one through the all.

But what would you feel about a group of three like Chasm suggested? It's fine if you just want a 1x1 though, don't be afraid to say no to it if you don't wanna do it. xD

I was thinking maybe our characters would be just doing their own thing, then they get to a sanctified area, that's where they would meet up.

Well, last story he was in, he was an orphaned boy, proficient with firearms and archery, learning the blade, and fast, and had eagle-eye vision. Social skills? .....Yeah, not so much <w< Not really a diplomat, if ya know what I'm sayin. He's average height, sandy hair, brown eyes, compact muscle, about 23 years old, and in it for the long haul, no love for instant gratification, as he believed that to be part of the cause of the destruction of the world

He's friendly, really, and he loves people, he just doesn't know what to DO with them XD Mainly because he was left completely alone at age 12... And nobody would help him, til he met the Old One, who he ends up having to kill XD

Only inwardly, and only around either females he finds attractive, or really bubbly people x3

How far away would you like it to start? I know you were saying like maybe Washington DC? I was just looking at a map to look for churches and stuff that could be sanctified ground... :O
There's the Washington National Cathedral, maybe we could use that as the starting point more or less? I think using a real place helps ground the setting. ^^
But the area that's safe wouldn't be JUST in the church right? Shouldn't there be like a large, town-sized area around the cathedral that is safe? But then the actual cathedral would be the safest place to be...?

The property connected to the church would also be protected by the sanctification. Like graveyards that belong to the church. But the sanctuary would be the safest place, even if the building is crumbling.

So, Washington would be good... and for the game, we can do time skip summaries.

They are too much fun to resist. 8D

Well I wonder if that's too small an area? I mean, could the safe area be bigger in some places than others? Like the Washington National Cathedral could have a larger area than other places, like instead of just the immediate area around the building the area could span wider. Not a huge area but enough for a couple hundred people to live there. That would be one of the largest sanctified areas though, most would just be small churches/temples/etc. with a dozen or less people.
There would only be several large places like the one in DC where more people live.
