After hearing the king only wished to see the Queen he thought he might be able to get out of here without seeing Judith, sure he wanted to .. but it wouldn't be the same as before. It had been nearly a week when he was last here any number of things could have happened. "Well good means I can be about my way" The Queen gave him a silent smile before speaking softly "Or you can stay here and keep Sinestra out of trouble.. seeing as you've been here before young rogue" His ears dropped a little, damn she didn't miss a beat did she. Though he quickly sighed before speaking with a slight bow of his head "Yes milady..." Though in almost the same motion he looked at one of the light elf guards with a sort of look as if saying kill him now.
The queen took her leave of the group leaving her guards, Rhyldrin and her daughter there. It was a mere few moments before she noticed there was a man at the end of the stairs, by his dress she guessed it was the new Light elf king. She paused a moment before curtsying to him. "I received word that the talks may be resumed after all these years" She said still in a rather soft tone, for the dark elves to be known as killers and savages she hardly seemed to match the description. Her hair was well kept and pulled back to keep out of her face aside form a few trimmed bangs, it's color was odd for her kind being a soft pink matching her eyes. She waited for him to address her further before she moved again. Sinestra growled a little being left behind before she started pacing, this was making both sets of guards nervous. "Ugh i can't stand waiting!" She finally blurted out before grabbing Rhyldrin by his shirt collar. "tell me why we are here!" She hissed at him as she slammed him against a wall. he had stopped paying attention when she suddenly flew into him catching him highly off guard. "ack... eh .. what you weren't told?" He grinned a bit thinking bout it, she loved war where her mother just wanted to prevent any further losses like what had happened not so long ago. "The king of the light elves and the Queen of the dark elves are going to continue the peace talks that were dismissed all those years ago." He finally told her as she released his shirt and glared at him. "Why! we can recover our losses why not give them payback for what they have done to our people! Instead of bowing to their feet" she seemed enraged by this new found fact. "Because blood shed only breeds more bloodshed, don't you see that you lost a sibling to this war others have lost far more." His ears were back it was odd seeing someone stand up to a royal and she wasn't sure how to take such a act. She finally laughed as she looked at the light elf guards who were really on edge now. "I see..so you really are a traitor.. " She smiled finally as she looked at him and forced him back against the wall again "it's that girl isn't it" she hissed into his ear "you only agreed to all of this to keep her safe... how noble of you.. " She released him for the time being and seemed to calm down, though she was plotting for sure. |
Bryon straightened up as he saw the queen walking towards him. His mind had been elsewhere and when he saw her from the corner of his eye it caught him off guard. He knew it was her because she had come alone as he wanted and he noticed the way that she was dressed and well kept. "Welcome," he said and bowed to her. When he lifted himself he smiled warmly at her. "Yes, I do wish to speak with you about that," he paused for a moment examining her body language. She didn't seem upset, she seemed calm as he did. "May I escort you to the throne room?" he asked. Bryon reached out a hand to her and as she placed hers in his he walked slowly up the stairs with her. When they came to the throne room he opened the door for her then closed it behind him. Bryon had brought a rather large, comfortable chair up to the room for her to sit in. He gestured to it then sat in his own chair. "Please make yourself comfortable, my home is yours milady." Bryon cleared his throat then spoke. "I want to apologize first for what has happened to your home," he seemed nervous as he spoke about it. He didn't wish to upset her, he couldn't imagine how she felt about it. "I want you to also know that if you need help re-building then I will personally assist you and I will bring along my top men. You can even take resources from my land, I insist." Bryon looked at her, he really meant it when he said it. "Secondly, if you need land then you may have it. I know of some caves and forests, though if you don't want either then I can find some other land that you will like. I want to help you." Bryon let out a heavy breath, now they had to talk about ending this war. "About the war," he didn't break eye contact from her. "I no longer want either of us to suffer from it. I've lost men and so have you. All it's done is cause more problems then we have needed. I had been planning to end it soon but then one of my men became power-hungry and didn't seem to give a damn about anything." he let out a heavy sigh, he wished that he had known what Brishen was planning. Why didn't any of his men inform him? "I think that it's time that we call each other allies rather than enemies." he looked at her waiting for her reply. |
She took his hand and allowed her to walk her to the room, once she was seated she still seemed as alert as any of her kind. Her looks were for mere show though she liked staying well kept she could use a blade just like any of them. She seemed to read him as he spoke testing if he was being truthful with her or not. When it seemed he was done she finally spoke in a soft tone. "I don't blame you or your people for the corruption of one. The men of that battle were following orders, mine were simply defending themselves to the best of their ability.. " she looked down a little with a sort of silent prayer for her lost son. "Sorry" she spoke once again after a second "But I agree that our people should have peace between them.. all of these years we've lived side by side in a war locked state." She smiled a little before going on "I think it's only fair to try again, after all the messenger you sent has ensured it made it this far." She figured the king had some kind of idea what Rhyldrin had done to get her audience in the first place with being marked a traitor from before. Though when he seemed to question her she explained a little "I like to keep tabs on my more promising warriors my Lord... but you don't seem to know who your messenger boy is"
She seemed amused by this the king didn't seem to know. "My people don't need land nor help in rebuilding... just the promise of peace and a leader strong enough to uphold the contract. This was the words passed along during the first attempts to make peace between the lands. Back when a young dark elf couple was killed within the light elf's capital along with the small group of guards with them." She seemed to pause a moment before going on. "Your messenger is the son of that couple, though he isn't trained as a ambassador he seemed to fulfill his parents wish either way." She seemed to smile again her words were a little cryptic if you weren't listening carefully. "It would seem the goddess's of the sun and moon have planned this through out the years, for the elves to finally make peace" Her kind believed in the moon goddess while the light elves followed the sun goddess, but the two were said to be sisters who stayed at war with one another but the tale goes on to say that one day there shall be peace between siblings. "You need not worry about any of my people giving you further trouble, any further conflicts will end without bloodshed." She was explaining they'd still defend themselves but simply take captives instead of killing them. "with that being said my Lord... is there anything you wish of the dark elves, aside from being able to call us allies?" She was curious and acted a bit like Rhyldrin when it came down to it, she'd refuse help till her last breath as would anyone from her kind. |
Bryon was a little surprised when she refused his offer for help and resources, though when she agree that there should be peace he felt calm again. He wasn't prepared if things went wrong, Bryon hadn't even brought any weapons with him to prove a point that he trusted her. "Oh," he said learning of who Rhyldrin's parents were. He was surprised that the man didn't hate Light Elves as any other would. "I can ensure you that for as long as I look over these lands nothing like that shall ever occur. I will not allow bloodshed between our people, anyone who harms one of your people will be personally punished by me. It won't be tolerated. I mean it when I want peace. I want our people to stop hating each other for whatever reasons. It's time to forgive one another and to become allies." Bryon breathed out heavily. "I want peace, you have my word, milady." he smiled at her warmly. "I know that you refused my offer but it does still stand. I will assist you when you need it." "I understand that," he said and nodded. If any Dark Elves were found causing trouble he would do the same. "I will do the same, I don't want blood on my hands anymore or my people's." though Bryon had never slain another living creature he knew that the war carrying on was partially his fault. He should have been more strict with his men and should have kept a better eye on them. If he had been more absorbed in his men then it might have discovered what Brishen had been planning. |
She agreed that Rhyldrin should hate the light elves, though she knew very well why he didn't all the years he had ventured to the edge of the forest... she had kept a very watchful eye on her people even if they didn't think she was doing so. But she'd keep that detail to herself as she smiled warmly at the king before standing. "Well then.. shall we make this official then by telling our people? It'll at least put the guards downstairs at ease" She smiled though it showed a hint that she was laughing at her words.
The tension downstairs was think enough to cut with a knife. Rhyldrin was keeping a watchful eye on Sinestra knowing all too well how rash the girl was and he expected her to not take this laying down even if it was for the best. The girl stayed silent after she had found out, tough she paced once every few minutes and kept a eye to the stairs waiting for the Queen to return with the King of the light elves. Vrine whined a little before cooing and pawing at Judith's leg, though after he started to walk towards the path way and seemed to want her to follow him. He knew his original keeper was here. The dragon also knew the girl was trying to avoid seeing him even being so young it could understand most things that went on around it. Emotions were something it was very sensitive to. After a moment the dragon gave up seeing as the girl didn't move or even make a attempt to do so. |
"Yes, let us." Bryon smiled at the queen and stood from where he sat as she did. He walked to the door and held it open for her then closed it behind her. Their footsteps echoed as they walked down the stairs. When they reached the entrance to the castle he opened the door and walked outside. A crowd had gathered outside of the castle. They probably heard that the Dark Elves queen was here and that she and their king were speaking about peace. They were whispering as he came out but the crowd grew silent, their eyes went to Bryon and the queen eager to hear what they had to say. Bryon cleared his throat, it was a habit of his. He always did it before he spoke. "I come baring good news my people," he spoke to them as if they were his friends. Bryon didn't speak down to those who did not hold a high status. "We have come to a long awaited agreement. There will be peace between the Dark and Light Elves." at first the small crowd didn't seem to react then slowly one by one they began to clap. It was overwhelming to see such a positive reaction from his people. Judith didn't want to follow Vrine when even when he seemed so insistent. Though when she heard sudden clapping she immediately stood from where she sat. Judith ran down the hall and to the entrance of the castle. Her ears perked up, she heard the kings last words. Is this really happening? she asked herself then took a step outside. Her eyes lit up when she saw Rhyldrin but she kept to herself. It was best that they didn't speak to each other and maybe she should have remained inside of the castle. |
The queen followed him as he lead the way to announce the news. She feared how his people would take it. Her's would settle on whatever word she gave them minus a few and they could be dealt with accordingly. He seemed to be a excellent speaker and the light elves respected and listened to him while he spoke aloud. She seemed to question the dead silence a moment before noise picked up once more. She finally felt it was ok to breath after this happened.
'Well that's over with.. now... ' His thought was disrupted as he noticed that Sinestra had vanished from sight suddenly. "Shit" He said before moving to go find her. "damn it if you do something stupid now .. " He growled under his breath as he walked. The guards of both sides took notice that Rhyldrin seemed on edge about something though they had forgotten about the girl by now in all the noise going on. By the time he found the girl his ears dropped suddenly. 'Don't you dare... ' He thought his breath stopped thinking she really wouldn't but she was wasn't she. The guards wouldn't get there in time if he let them handle this even though they had just picked up on what he saw as well. Sinestra standing behind where the king and queen were, her pose said she was preparing to strike and he could guess what target she was going for. The light elf guards were already on the move trying to get to the King's side before this took place though they knew they'd never match the gap before she could strike. "Tsk" He hissed out before darting forward and putting his skills to good use. It took no time before he had managed to get up to where the two royals were his Queen seemed to question his sudden action. It had all happened so fast they hadn't noticed just yet what was about to take place. Sinestra had already started her charge as she screamed out in her native tongue. Though this was put to a end quickly seeing as Rhyldrin had made it just in time and ducked between the King and Queen tackling Sinestra to the ground. "Damn it what the hell's your problem?" He yelled at her trying to keep her arms still though he had failed to grab both of them and was rewarded for it as she slammed a dagger into his stomach. Her eyes were wild and showed that she was enraged as she still struggled against his hold. Flinching slightly from the stab he couldn't afford to let her go as he finally got both of her arms and forced her against the ground. "Your damn insane... " He breathed out trying to keep her still as the guards finally caught up to where he was taking over holding her down. He gladly let them take over as he moved away from her covering the wound for the time being and not showing that he had been stabbed as he stood there to see what the Queen would do. Two of the dark elf guards made the girl stand and look at the queen as she walked towards her daughter. "You.. I'm ashamed of you" She growled at her the soft tone form before was gone "Your far from ready to take my place, and that being said you know very well what that also means." The girl clenched her teeth suddenly before crying out "We shouldn't be calling them our ally!" Though the second half set in as she laughed a little "Oh well, I made sure he was rewarded for siding with the damn light elves.." She hissed out in a icy tone towards her mother. The Queen had meant she knew well that Rhyldrin had said he'd do whatever Sinestra wanted to make this happen and seeing as her daughter wouldn't be queen so long as she drew breath she had no use in having a assigned mate. "now take her back to the encampment.. make her walk the whole way maybe she'll regain herself in the process I will deal with her when I return" Two of the guards nodded and the Queen's words as they made her walk after binding her hands behind her and in such a manner the locks were impossible to break or be picked. Te queen quickly turned to the Knight and fell to her knees with a deep bow to him. "I'm so sorry for my daughters outburst, do not think ill" The three guards she had with her still followed her motion and bowed as well. Rhyldrin followed this order from the Queen though he was still keeping the wound covered for the time being. After that he didn't want to cause further worry for the Queen, he'd deal with it in a moment there there was a few drops of blood on the ground. Vrine sat down next to Judith catching the girl's reaction when she say Ryldrin. He whined a little before looking to Reine. The dragon didn't understand why the two refused to be together, was color and background really that much of a deciding factor? The dragon didn't understand what was going on and then the sudden commotion or from the sounds of it it was a sudden commotion.. he whined again turning his head towards Judith. |
The king was stunned at the woman's reaction though he knew that not all Light Elves and Dark Elves would agree with the idea of peace. "I won't judge you upon the actions of another," he said to the queen accepting her apology. He was glad that Rhyldrin had reached her in time, the last thing that he needed to happen now was bloodshed. Though if Rhyldrin had not reached her he would have dealt with her even if she struck him first. The crowd below seemed tense after what had happened. Bryon looked over the crowd and managed a smile. "What you saw does not change anything. Peace still stands between us and the Dark Elves as it was announced." he saw the uneasiness from his people. "Don't forget that not all of them are like that. Just as we are not all the same." he felt that he needed to remind them of this. He didn't want them to doubt his decisions. A king needed his people's trust and love. Judith took Vrine in her hand and held him to her chest closely. At first she too didn't realise what was going on. It had happened so suddenly, when she saw Rhyldrin was hurt she placed Vrine on her shoulder and went to him immediately. I don't care if they see, she thought to herself. She could no longer be called a traitor for caring for another who was not like her. Besides she didn't think that a majority of her fellow people would turn their backs on her now, they seemed thrilled when the king announced that the war was ending. Still didn't mean that they would tolerate the sight of a Light Elf with a Dark Elf, but she was hopeful. Judith gently brought her hand to the one he held on his wound. "Rhyldrin," she whispered to him. "You're such a brave man." Vrine remained perched on her shoulder, he knew this wasn't the time to ask for attention. Though he did let out a high pitch whine. Bryon took notice that Judith was being kind to Rhyldrin. It didn't irritate him though, maybe they could be a good influence for his people. He wondered what would become of the two now that there was peace but he doubted that anything would happen. Bryon brought his attention back to his people and smiled. "Tonight we will celebrate!" he said, the villagers cheered. He looked at the queen and took her hand in his, he placed a kiss on her hand gently. "Will you and your men join us in celebration?" he asked her. |
He was about to excuse himself from this little gathering anyway he'd explain later to the Queen though he ended up flinching at the sudden touch from someone. His attention hadn't been where it needed to be as far as being alert. "Heh.. brave isn't the word I'd use.. Stupid yes" He said in his normal tone that he used during most situations. Really he was glad to see her, though he didn't expect anything to come of it.
Oddly the Queen didn't seem surprised by the girl, though she had a idea of who she was going off of what she knew about Rhyldrin. she gave the king a soft smile after the kiss and his question. "I will attend and my few knights." Though she knew even without a wound that Rhyldrin would decline this tooth and nail, so instead she nodded her head towards him a little to excuse him. Her knights looked at one another a little unsure of how to take all of this, the idea of peace was still such a long distance away it seemed unreal that it had happened. Catching the queen's gesture he relaxed a little before whispering to Judith "I need to take care of this and quickly.. " He just needed some minor supplies that he didn't have on him like a needle and thread and then some form of salve or liquid to clean it with. Though the odd thought came to mind he always ended up getting hurt whenever she was around. Vrine kept quiet mostly as he flipped his tail back and forth, being around the other dragon didn't seem to affect him that much. (ew thats short DX) |
Judith smiled at how Rhyldrin spoke, he seemed to be acting like himself. "There's plenty of supplies in the castle," she said to him, her hand still placed on his. Bryon looked over at her noticing that she was also looking at him, he smiled. "Yes," he said to Judith before she even asked. "You may use the medical supplies that I have. Please clean up the mess when you're done though." Judith looked back at Rhyldrin and removed her hand from his wound. "Follow me," she said to him quietly. "I've learnt a few things while I've stayed here and maybe you can meet Vrine's new friend." Vrine perked up seeming to know that she was talking about the other dragon. Judith pushed the door open slightly and slipped in she held it open waiting for Rhyldrin to follow. Vrine jumped from her shoulder when he saw the Reine sitting at the end of the stairs. He chirped happily then went to her, Vrine began to groom her affectionately. Reine pawed at him to stop grooming her. Bryon turned back to the queen smiling at her as she accepted his offer. "It's alright if he chooses not to attend," he said and looked at the small crowd. The people were retreating to their homes to prepare for the celebration. "Though I think that Judith may convince him to." maybe he shouldn't have said that but he didn't think that the queen the blind. It was easy to see that there was something there even with the little conversation that he heard between them. Though Rhyldrin was being smart his body language told an entirely different story. |
(ok so i edited twice XD i wasnt happy with it just being long lol This is my last post till sunday after all </3)
The queen nodded towards his comment, she had noticed though she had known for years. "Not something I thought I'd see in my life time.. " She said to reply to the King's comment though she still had the soft smile that she seemed to have. She didn't see this as a bad thing, though it might cause the two of them trouble. One of the guards laughed slightly at the thought of it "My lady if I'm not to bold.. I think we'll see Rhyldrin attend such a event when the snows from the north claim this area." Over all he was saying when hell froze over. She nodded a little to her guard "You may be right, with the war over he may go back to what he was doing before as well" She pointed out to him before walking forward a few steps and then following the king, she wasn't sure of the area so she wasn't going to venture off and be rude. He followed her though after seeing the other dragon he wasn't sure what to say "so.. Vrine is normal then?" He questioned her seeing as both acted like cats. That was a bit of a scary thought a cat that could breath magic and fly. Really the odd conversation was to avoid thinking he was back to being in the castle, he hardly enjoyed being here it felt too confined to him. Vrine cooed at the two of them as if to answer the question presented. Still following Judith he smirked a bit knowing how well the dragon under stood speech "Just remember your too young for that" He said with a slight laugh though he regretted the laugh afterwards. The dragon snorted at him before going back to licking and pawing at the other dragon. He'd have to just follow her for the time being, he didn't know this floor of the castle. But not well enough to risk walking off anyway. Plus he wasn't sure how to act around her was he suppose to just keep acting like nothing had happened. He had noticed the King had been keeping a eye on the two of them when she had come up to his side. Even with peace at hand he wished his mind would give him peace but it seemed unlikely. Besides he needed to keep his mind about him anyway .. a distraction wasn't needed even if it was company that he'd drop everything just to be with. The two dragons seemed to notice the two were leaving them behind as Virne whined a little and ran after them both, followed by Reine. Rhyldrin shook his head a little after he noticed this. "I sometimes wonder if I missed a calling in life" He was joking really but it was odd for dragons to follow or take to anyone even if you hatched the egg it was common for the dragon to still be rather agitated at all times. Vrine seemed to agree with comment as he chirped once and catch up to match his walking speed. After a little while longer they came to a room that seemed to be a sort of medical ward of the castle, he figured as much as far as that's where they were headed. There was a nurse on duty at the moment but aside from that the place seemed empty, she nearly jumped out of her skin though when Judith and Ryldrin entered the room. Though she remembered the speech from the King that she had heard through the window as she bowed saying sorry to the both of them. She seemed to bother Rhyldrin saying she should have a look at the wound before he went about treating it. She did finally give in and went across the room to get what he had asked her for. "I really should check to make sure it didn't hit anything vital you could bleed intern- " He cut her off with a heavy sigh "Look I know all of that and trust me I know for a fact it missed everything" He had to admit he had the devil's luck at times if not on a 24-7 basis. She frowned a little still with a worried expression. He didn't want to admit this really but he figured it'd make her feel at ease if he did. "I was training to be a cleric before the war broke out... I didn't get very far in the training but I learned the basics and before tat I studied for a few years under my father who was the head of the medical division for the dark elf capital." She seemed to shut up after he spoke explaining himself to her, she had thought he was just being stubborn but cleric training was among the two three hardest classes to train for, next to mage and summoner. Pulling his shirt off to prevent it from getting in the way and to scowl at the hole in it now he went about what he needed to do to start cleaning the wound. "So are you happy with that answer, I promise I'm not going to drop dead in the floor" He added the bit at the end for morbid humor but he didn't figure she'd find it funny. After a few moments of this and then going to stitching the wound shut, it was just large enough he didn't trust just wrapping it. The nurse seemed to watch this process in aw, having never seen someone just treat their own wounds without a second thought. She looked at Judith almost asking if that was normal for them, and it wasn't really most groups had a medic that tended such business. Though Rhyldrin seemed to ignore the reactions from the nurse as he put everything back, this place sort of reminded him of home back when his parents were alive. Though he didn't dwell on the thought as he pulled out a needle and thread from the pouch on his belt and sat back down going about stitching the spot in the shirt. Though he noticed the nurse's odd look now as he stopped a moment. "something wrong?" she shook her head suddenly before straightening up "N-no just .. never seen someone act like a stab wound was nothing like that .. let alone you just keep going. You should allow it to rest." He went back to mending the shirt with that last comment from her. "It'll heal you don't have to be bedridden for every little wound." He said it almost stalely as he was focusing on what he was doing, though the sewing was a bit odd he had only picked it up to prevent the loss clothing.. during missions it was common to rip clothes especially when you were working in the forests. After a few more moments he was satisfied at the least with the shirt's repair putting the thread and needle away then pulling the shirt back on and fixing the one sword to his back once more. The nurse was still watching him still in a bot of a awe struck state. He titled his head a little confused what he had done that was so damn amazing. "Er.... are you going to be ok there?" The nurse flinched a little before nodding "Though.. I have to ask are there more like you? Because you guys should teach our men here how to be self efficient!" She seemed to be dead serious about it as well. He gave Judith a odd look still not getting what the bloody hell he had done to be tat impressive. |
Judith smiled at Vrine and Reine. She couldn't come up with an explanation for why both seemed the act like cats. Though maybe Bryon had spoiled her with attention as well or not being in her natural environment dramatically changed how she was. Judith stopped walking for a moment, her eyes still on the dragons watching them interact. "I have not gotten around to asking Bryon how he found her or how she was raised. I assume that he either found her as she was hatching or he found a egg." she smiled when Vrine snorted at Rhyldrin's comment. "I think that he's in love with her." she laughed then looked up at Rhyldrin. For a moment she fell silent then she abruptly continued walking. "If he doesn't come to me for attention he will go to her." "I've been staying here ever since you left," she said it as if it were nothing but really Judith was dying to have him hold her. She knew that they couldn't do that even with peace amongst the Dark and Light Elves. Even though it had not been long since he left so much had changed. "Bryon insisted that I stay." she didn't really have to tell Rhyldrin why she thought he did. It was quite obvious. "He has a green room at the end of this hall, he built it for his dragon and he allowed me in to it seeing as I had Vrine. Though he isn't my dragon really, he's yours." she laughed quietly to herself then stopped at a door. When she entered it was very clear that the room was solely for medical attention. A nurse seemed to be on duty, Judith had been hoping that no one was there. She had wanted to practice what she had learned on Rhyldrin, but then again maybe it was a good thing that she couldn't. She probably would have became nervous and somehow messed up the stitching. Though that wasn't the only reason why she had wanted them to be alone. She wanted to talk to him badly maybe this was a sign that she shouldn't. Judith smiled at the nurse's reactions and comments. She seemed to be a very curious woman who was interested in learning how Rhyldrin could do such a thing without hesitation. He didn't even seem to flinch as he closed the wound. When she asked Judith if that was normal for them Judith wasn't too sure. "They are probably trained differently than we are." she said answering the woman. "Please don't worry, he knows what he's doing." she added then smiled at her. Sure what Judith had said calmed some of her nerves but not all of them. Though she was seemed more curious now than worried. When she made a comment about training her people Judith laughed. When Rhyldrin was done Judith looked at him, a smile still on her face. "Come I want to show you the room, I'm sure that Bryon won't mind seeing as you're also Vrine's owner." she said and took his hand in hers. She heard the nurse nagging her that he should rather rest than go on adventures but she insisted that she wouldn't push Rhyldrin too hard. When they left the room Vrine and Reine were at the door, they began to chirp at them. Judith continued to hold Rhyldrin's hand, she walked down the same hall to the very end then opened the door. "Look," she said. Judith was acting like a child she was excited. "Isn't it beautiful?" |
He kept any comments to the king wanting her to stay here at the castle to himself for the time being. He was a bit preoccupied with thinking about what he needed to do with the wound for the time being. Though he'd think about what he wanted to say to her and tell her, skipping out on a few details to prevent her from saying anything about it. Going by the type of dragon both Reine and Vrine are he'd take a guess the king got his through a similar deal he ended up with Vrine's egg... though being a royal he could have just had a whim to go buy one.
He sighed a little pulling the shirt on before answering the nurse's question. "No we're not all trained to do that.. mostly you'll only see mercenaries do such things, if its part of the military they have assigned medics at all times to each group." He seemed to think on the rest of his answer before going on. "We'll just say most skills are from necessity and not by choice" Really that was the truth, most of what he knew came from trial and error over the years or picking up a skill here and there when it came across the time he needed it. Shortly after he was done Judith had already started dragging him off somewhere, not that he really minded but he did want to get out of the castle as soon as possible before the Queen came to him saying he had to attend something... Sure he had the free will to say no but she had the power to make that no bite him in the long run. Though he guessed being dragged off somewhere wasn't too bad really, he did need to tell her something and with that nurse around from the medical ward he couldn't very well do such a thing not openly. Once they got to the room she wanted to show him she seemed over joyed by it's sight. This made it a little easier on his thoughts, to see that she could at least be happy here meant he could say what he needed to say. Though he did steal his hand back just noticing that she had been holding onto it for the entire walk here, he didn't mind but that's not what he needed a guard of the castle to report back to the king. "You should take him up on his offer then" He finally said out of the blue after she had settled down a little. It was a sudden statement and he wasn't sure she'd remember what she had told him from the walk to the medical ward. He waited a few moments before explaining himself a little seeing as she seemed a little confused why he would tell her such a thing. Though he still watched his words seeing as the walls could very well have ears and he didn't need to cause trouble for either of them... and crossing the king when he had his eyes set on Judith wasn't a smart move in the least. "I'm not staying here, not after the Queen gets back to her forest. I've decided I want to go and try to continue my training I gave up for the war... " He sort of left it at that, the raining would take at least three to five years and that's if he managed to make it that far. for the time being he wanted to see how she'd react to that before he told her his real thoughts on why he wanted her to stay here, and most of them were because he had accepted that they couldn't be together by this time, and at least this way she could live a normal if not happy life style. (.__. that wasnt as long as i'd like) |
"I don't want to marry Bryon," she said to Rhyldrin without hesitation. Judith couldn't imagine marrying a man that she didn't love and a man that she barely knew. She knew that if he did propose to her or at least managed to without her abruptly stopping him that maybe saying yes would be a good idea. Judith could live a happy normal life with him, though she would definitely be happier with someone that she loved. "I wonder how shocked everyone would be to hear that I didn't give the king my hand in marriage." Judith fell silent when Rhyldrin told her that he would be leaving. She looked at her feet wondering what she could possibly say to him but she knew that convincing him not to go was out of the question. "I see," she said quietly it almost seemed as if she wasn't talking to him and was just whispering to herself. "I'm not going to lie and pretend that I'm happy about that." she said and let out a heavy sigh. "Though I'm not going to try to convince you to stay or to try and stop you because it isn't my place to do so." Judith knew that he had already made up his mind. Judith looked up at Rhyldrin and managed a smile. "You should go then," she said to him. It took a lot for Judith to say those words. The last thing that she wanted to do was tell Rhyldrin to leave. She should have just left him to be tended to by someone else. It seemed that love didn't make her think too clearly. "If you stay any longer it will only make it worse. I shouldn't have went to you earlier." Judith looked down at Vrine who was resting by her feet. He let out a high pitch whimper, his ears shot back and he looked up at Rhyldrin. |
He felt like he shouldn't have told her that he was leaving, maybe keeping such a thing was better off kept to himself. Though t was already said an done now. Sure he felt better knowing that she wasn't going to just marry the king but there was still the chance that when he came back she had moved on.. though he wanted her to really. He sighed finally being at a loss of words and he noticed the way Vrine was acting at her feet. 'damn im no good at this' He though before be took a few steps towards her and grabbed her chin, using a little more force then he normally did with her but he wasn't in the best of moods when her saying she shouldn't have gone to him. "I'm not leaving forever, I can't protect you that's been proven too many times you've been hurt even when I was around. I'm glad that you showed yourself earlier... I really am. I felt like what I had done was worth something I would have gladly died at that point with no regrets"
He wasn't lying and he wasn't good with explaining what he wanted to say but he figured the point was at least getting across to her, though for the moment he was saying be damned if someone caught him talking to her like this. "Never say that again... please" He said to her quietly before letting her chin go and turning away from her, this was already hard enough without her telling him she didn't want him to go .. to tell the truth he didn't want to go but if he stayed surely it'd cause her more trouble. "I'm not going because I want to, I'm going so maybe you can have a happy life maybe you can find something while I'm gone. I've accepted the fact that I can't stay around you and keep you happy not with how things are currently.." He sighed a little to himself so she couldn't hear, really he didn't fully accept it.. he wanted to just take her and say everything would work out but the thoughts that someone might rebel against such a idea... thus putting her in more danger wasn't one he enjoyed. He did decide to give her a bit of information in case she did ever really need him or something went wrong. "The Queen knows where Im going... if you need me after I'm gone ask for her help." He didn't want her to send him a message really knowing he'd drop anything he was doing to make sure she was safe. But he'd leave his little speech at that for now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He did leave as he said he would, five years most of them spent in the southern region of the continent. Though he did end up failing to pass the cleric training due to the apparently lack of any light magic. Oddly enough the training did manage to find out why he had passed the detection test to see if he even had magic from the start. Instead of being able to train as a templar or cleric like his first plan was he ended up being forced to train under a wizard of the volcanic order, the wielders of the element of fire. It was rare to have such a magic and it was very hard to control. Even with passing the five years worth of training he couldn't say he was master over it. Though in the training the different types of trainees did mix together at the end to get a idea of how they were suppose to support one another in fights, though fire was hardly something easy to control and have others fighting around you... being fueled by emotions almost as much as the water element. Five years meant that they could finally leave the training grounds if they passed anyway. And from here it was a rather damn long walk back to where he came from in the first place. Though at the least he wasn't walking alone, there was two light elves that had passed the training of different elements about the time he did. Not that he enjoyed the company though from the training over the years he did sort of get more use to having others around, but over all he hadn't changed much aside from being older and probably a bit more mature then he was before. Though not once did he forget about Judith or Vrine even.. he wondered if the dragon had gotten any bigger in the five years he was gone. Though surely Judith had moved on seeing as he never got any word otherwise from her. But that also meant nothing had gone wrong so she didn't need him anyway. ~~ "By the goddess I can't wait to get back home!" One of the light elves exclaimed as they walked along a path towards the light elf capital being at least a few miles out from it and following a path that was rather close to the forests edge. The other one nodded in agreement "heh.. least you live in the capital.. I have a few more miles to walk once we get there" He groaned a little thinking about it. Rhyldrin didn't have much to say on this, he probably had a bit of a walk though by now surely the dark elves had recovered a bit. Suddenly he got a nudge in his side as the light elf who had passed templar training smirked a bit "So your going back to your home and you have a girl waiting for you ... waiting to just jump you that's how dark elf females are right? Thats what I heard" He laughed a little as he got a glare from the question. "Jagen... I've told you countless times I don't have a girl and I'd hardly look forward to being jumped as soon as I returned from such a damned walk" He left out the temper of a dark elf female.. it was hardly as blissful as he made it sound. He laughed a little backing up slightly to avoid getting any wrath from Rhyldrin "I still think your lying, you just don't want to tell us" Rhyldrin sighed shaking his head a little as they walked, the other light elf with them was named Abel, he had passed as a cleric. This was a rather odd group of two light elves and a dark elf and all three having passed the five year training down in the south. |
Though Rhyldrin had advised Judith to take the king's offer of marriage she had rejected it when he finally came around to asking. Bryon had not been happy about it, there wasn't much else to be expected but he knew that Judith was madly in love with another man despite not seeing him for months now. He couldn't force her to marry him, he wasn't like that and if she was happy to wait for Rhyldrin's return then so be it. Eventually Bryon did get married to a widowed queen who reigned over another clan of Light Elves. Bryon didn't love her as much as he had loved Judith but he knew that he couldn't change her mind. Besides he wanted her to be happy and he knew that her marrying someone who she didn't love would not make her happy. A few months later Judith had noticed that her belly had grown quite a bit. It didn't take much to know that she was pregnant. With the symptoms it made it even more obvious. Judith knew that Bryon couldn't be the father or well any other man than Rhyldrin. The only person that she could think of speaking to about this was Bryon maybe he could help her, he did. Bryon built Judith a home close to the capital in the forest that she had loved as a child. It was a small cottage, but big enough for her, perhaps a man and her child to live in. There was a guest room for anyone who wished the spend the night as well. When the time came to having the child Judith found out that she wasn't just having one child, she was having two. Judith named the girl Sophie and she named the boy Vaden. They were beautiful, healthy babies but also different. When they were born Judith stayed in her home a majority of the time. Bryon would come by once a day to check up on her but eventually he sent a guard by in the morning then a guard that would come by at night. Judith had heard that his wife was becoming jealous of her. He gave her more attention than his own wife. Judith hoped that he wouldn't visit her much anymore, she didn't want to cause conflict with the queen. Judith's children grew up quite well despite not having a father. When they would ask about him Judith would explain that he had other business to attend to and maybe one day he would return. Judith told them wonderful things about Rhyldrin to keep them from not liking him. They always looked forward to meeting him one day. She never thought once about going to get him, Judith could manage with Rhyldrin the children weren't that difficult yet. She also didn't know how Rhyldrin would react to having children. ----- Sophie had become a mischievous child when she turned five. She played tricks on her mother and her brother. Sophie often dragged her brother along with her when she went anywhere and she would threaten to beat him up if he didn't come along. Though she was mean to her brother she did love him. Sophie resembled her mother the most. She had long, curly, red hair that was often messy and her skin was fair. Though she had two characteristics from her father. Sophie's eyes were a deep red, the girl had been given the ability to see in the dark and she was rather tall for her age. Vaden was a quiet boy who mostly kept to himself. He preferred playing with his toys or helping his mother around the house rather than going outside and playing in the mud. His hair was short, messy and pink. Vaden's eyes were as white as his mother's but his skin was much darker than his sister's and he was also taller than most boys his age. Vaden could also see in the dark like his sister. Tonight Sophie had managed to get out of the house without alerting her mother and of course next to her was poor Vaden who didn't want to be in the forest at all. It was an advantage to see in the dark, they didn't need light to guide them through the forest. Sophie ran through the forest, dragging her brother along who was complaining about the cold. "You always complain!" Sophie said to him, she rolled her eyes then let go of his arm. "Did you hear that?" she asked and looked at her brother. His eyes began to look all over the area and he chewed nervously on his lip. "No?" he finally said and looked at her. Sophie's face became twisted with fear. "Vaden, run! There's a monster!" she screamed. Sophie roared with laughter when her brother took off and hid behind a tree. "Come back, there isn't a monster!" she yelled. Sophie approached her brother and punched his shoulder. "Stop crying, Vaden." she said and rolled her eyes. "I won't do that again, alright? So stop crying, there isn't a monster." she let out a heavy sigh and took hold of her brother's hand. "Let's go to the pound!" she said and started to walk. Even if Vaden protested she would drag him there anyways. |
The three of them kept walking though the closer they got to the light elf capital the darker it seemed to get. "Geese... I envy you about now" Jagen spoke up referring to Ryhldrin's ability to see in the dark or at least enough to get around. Rhyldrin didn't say anything, it wasn't always a blessing, though there was enough light outside at the moment that the group didn't use any torches.
Once they had reached the main path Jagen said his good byes for the moment and started towards the city. "I'm going to see how my folks are, not sure if they ever got my last few letters when we were having the issues over there heh...." He started walking before he stopped and turned again "Oh I'll write up the report as well saying we took care of that creature on the boundaries of the capital's land" After he was finally done chattering he turned back around and started walking towards the gates. Abel and Rhyldrin looked at each other they never could figure out why he talked so damn much. Shrugging off that the group had gotten smaller they started walking though seeing as it was getting to be pitch black outside Rhyldrin sighed a little "Well I guess we can just stay in one of the small dark elf areas.. you still have a few miles to go before you get to your home town don't you?" Abel nodded a little. "Yeah.... walking in the dark with the odds of encountering another one of the beasts we fought when we got here isn't sounding like a good idea heh" He knew there was a few smaller clans near-by and from the word he had gotten from messengers that passed through the southern area it sounded like the two races had settled most if not all squabbles they had before in recent years. "You never talk about your home, I know you had to live near here so shouldn't you be excited a little" Rhyldrin shook his head a little "Not when you have nothing to go back home to, I never stayed long though I did live in the capital I guess as a child." They weren't that far into the forest when Rhyldrin stopped suddenly and Abel had caught the same noise he had as they shot one another a quick glace. 'think it's another one?' he said under his breath to Rhyldrin as he prepared to draw his shield from his back. '... no we'd already be in combat if it were' Abel nodded knowing how Rhyldrin handled things like this and allowed him to go forward a bit to seek out the noise they had heard, though the more he walked it sounded like crying and someone talking. 'what the hell?' He said after he found where the noise was coming from. 'kids?' He questioned this they weren't dark elf or not from what he could tell, he never took notice of the hair color or that they were tall for light elves. "Tsk Abel it's just kids" He said still keeping his voice down, after he had informed the teammate he still had at the moment he sighed a little before walking towards the two children and crossing his arms a few feet away. "Playing in the forest at night isn't safe you know that right, let alone what type of parents would allow you to do such a thing" Sure just suddenly speaking probably would startle both of the kids but it was a matter of their safety, he didn't need this not having to return a few kids to the capital that was the other direction all together. Abel had caught back up to Rhyldrin as he stood to his side being about a head shorter then the dark elf. "Kids?" He questioned Rhyldrin as he looked at the two of them. Though he was a bit nicer then Rhyldrin was by far as he kneeled down to be more around their height to prevent from scaring them further they didn't need them running off. "Wheres your parents little ones? he is right it's not safe to be out here at night... not really safe to be out here in the day really.. " |
Sophie wasn't one to get scared but when she suddenly heard a man's voice she also jumped with her brother. Her big eyes looked up at the man curiously, wondering why he was telling her what was obvious. "I know that," she said and rolled her eyes. The girl did had quite an attitude, she crossed her arms over her chest and continued to look up at the man it almost seemed as if she was trying to intimidate him. Vaden stood behind her, his eyes were also looking at Rhyldrin. "We only have a mother," the boy said quietly. "Sophie dragged me out here, I wanted to stay home but she wouldn't let me!" he cried. Vaden didn't like getting caught, he never wanted to get in trouble. His sister turned to him and her face fell. "I'm going to tell mom that this was your idea!" she yelled. Then the two began to argue, Sophie hit her brother's shoulder and Vaden started to cry. "Vaden! You always cry!" It usually didn't take long for Judith to realise that her children had left the home, it was probably due to the sudden silence. Sophie wasn't one to keep quiet for long even if she was being put to bed and Vaden could usually be heard playing with his toys or crying because his sister was teasing him. Judith let out a heavy sigh and stood from where she sat. When she peaked in to their room it confirmed her fears, the two were not in their beds. She wasn't too worried because usually Sophie would just wander in to the yard but when she saw that they weren't there her heart sank. Sophie why do you do this to me? she thought, Judith grabbed a coat and pulled the hood over her head then left. She held a small candle in her hand to help her see. "Sophie come back here now!" she yelled. When she didn't get a response she continued to walk. "Oh how far did you go this time?" she mumbled to herself. |
Rhyldrin sighed heavily watching this little event before he took a few steps forward and pulled the two far enough to be out of arm's distance form one another. "If you know then why would you do it? What the hell do they teach kids now a days?" 'damn it i just wanted to go to a town have a few drinks and get a place for the night after Abel gets to him home... well I didn't plan that far' He was a bit annoyed that everything seemed to get in his way tonight of what he did have planned and from the battle the group had earlier the affects were starting to show on him a little.
"Also stop hitting your brother, he'd probably cry less and in turn it'd stop giving me a headache" If only he knew what he was complaining about was his own blood. Abel walked a few steps before laughing slightly patting Rhyldrin's shoulder "relax, they don't look that old probably just walked off and the mother didn't notice." He smiled a little before looking between the girl and the boy "so tell me where do you two live so we can get you back home, and then you won't have to deal with my friend here anymore." Rhyldrin sighed a little shaking his head 'i think im the one dealing here..' though Abel had a point the sooner they took the two home the sooner they could go about their own business. Though about the time he had asked Abel thought he heard some yelling a bit off from where they were but he wasn't sure and Rhyldrin didn't seem to be in the mood to pay attention, though he knew why. |
Sophie was annoyed with the two adults, she didn't really want to go home and didn't want to listen to them. She brought her eyes to the other man and seemed insulted. "I'm five! I'm not a child!" she let out a heavy sigh. "We live in the forest," she said "I know this area and I'm not scared of it. I don't need your help because I can find my own way home in the dark." Sophie's ears dropped when she heard her mother calling her name. "Is that mom?" Vaden asked he had heard it too. Sophie fell silent, her mother would be upset to find her this deep in the forest she would be luck to be able to go in to the yard. Especially considering how she had dragged Vaden along with her again. "Sophie I can see you!" Judith yelled, she stood far from the two men and her children. When she brought herself to her children she took Sophie's hand in hers. "Mother I was only-" Sophie didn't say much before her mother interrupted her. "Young lady, look at what you have done to your clothes! My Goddess! I only cleaned them today and do you know what time it is?" she barked. "And how could you drag your poor brother out here? You know that he's terrified of the dark!" Sophie looked up at her mother angry that she was being scolded. Judith waited for her daughter to speak but it seemed as if she had nothing to say. Judith blamed herself for her daughter being so adventurous. It reminded her of herself when she was a child. Judith handed Sophie the candle to hold and brought Vaden in to her arms. "You're not in trouble. Why are you crying?" she took the sleeve of her sweater and brushed it against his face gently. "Sophie hit me!" he blurted out. Judith looked at her daughter, she felt disappointed. Judith had already warned her to stop teasing her brother. Sophie looked at the ground avoiding her mother's eyes, she knew that she was in even more trouble now. Judith looked up at the two men and let out a sigh. "I'm sorry about this," she said then stood. Vaden held on to his mother's side and Judith took hold of her daughter's free hand. "This one if always getting in to trouble." she said looking down at her daughter. "I hope that she didn't cause you too much trouble." |
Really he was glad that they didn't have to take the kids back to where ever they belonged though he did find it a bit odd for the girl to blert out they lived in the forest.. why would a light elf live here. He didn't question it too much he hardly cared as the woman walked closer to the group and started going on on the young girl. Though he wasn't paying attention to any of it when he noticed who was talking and putting the facts together he should have known the red hair.
He didn't say a word and Abel had noticed his sudden change in mood, it was almost like he had just seen a ghost as he watched the woman and Rhyldrin. "Hey you ok?" He finally asked under his breath, normally Rhyldrin would have some smart ass remark like take better care of your kids or whatever or anything but he had just shut up completely. Hearing the woman say sorry and hope that the kids weren't trouble Abel shook his head a little and nervously laughed "Oh no no trouble at all just.. wasn't expecting to see children in the forest was all." Rhyldrin still didn't say anything till Abel was done speaking and the woman was as well. "Judith?" He seemed to question the woman speaking aloud, he wasn't sure he even had the right person sure it looked like her but maybe his mind was playing tricks on him or he had finally snapped. What was he suppose to say, though he thought about it if the woman didn't recognize him then he'd be better off not asking such a question besides if this was Judith and she had kids then he guessed she had found some form of a happy life while he was gone. Not that it was a bad thing he was glad for that really. But for the moment he seemed to wait to see if he got a answer to his question. |
"We live not too far in the forest," she said the the man. "My daughter likes to wander off quite often, I should know better by now. She gets it from me, I did the same thing as a child." Judith was about to apologize again then leave but before she could speak again the other man said her name. Vaden looked up at his mother surprised as well. "Mother, why does that man know your name?" he asked and tugged at her dress. Sophie would have asked as well but she decided that she had already annoyed her mother enough. Judith studied his face for a moment then spoke. "I'm sorry, I-" she was about to say that she didn't know him but then her eyes fell on a familiar scar. "Rhyldrin?" she asked, her voice shook. Judith fell silent, she wasn't sure what else she could say. Vaden tugged on her dress and Sophie also looked up at her mother's stunned face. "What's wrong?" Sophie asked then looked at the man. "Is he bad?" she asked. Judith looked down at her daughter and smiled. "No, he isn't bad." she said then squeezed her daughter's hand. |
He didn't say anything listening to the woman explain that they lived in the forest, why was that. Did he make a grave mistake in leaving for five years, he began to question himself. Had it been a selfish choice to leave her behind even though the intention behind it was good. He felt like it was somehow his fault she was living outside of the light elf capital. Aside from that he had to admit he was a little amused the king didn't woe her in his absence, though he'd hardly have been able to guess why that was. The fact that both of these kids were hers was quiet plain now look at them both they favored her in some form or another. He just figured she had found someone to be happy with and form a life with while he was gone, he never did tell her he'd for sure be returning to these lands.
Abel questioned Rhyldrin, last he knew the dark elf had told him he hardly stayed in any one place for a extended time let alone to get to know anyone. Why would Rhyldrin hide something like he had a friend in these parts? There wasn't any laws against dark and light elves knowing or getting along with each other anymore, or at least not from the reports they got over in the southern region. Fighting between the two races had come to just minor crimes over all, that and a few small groups that stood true to hating the other side. 'Whats wrong with you?' He finally spoke under his breath trying to jar Rhyldrin out of the shock he seemed to be in at the moment. 'tsk nothing, forget it' He hissed as his reply before he returned his attention back to Judith after the woman confirmed that that's who she was, not that it was hard to figure out. Really he had wanted to avoid running into Judith, not that he didn't want to see her.. but it wasn't something he had prepared himself for. He had just wanted to ensure Abel got to his home town safely then he was going to take his leave of this area to leave Judith to her life. Seeing as there had been no messages over the years he figured she had moved on and from the looks of things he was right to think such things or at least with the fact that she had kids. Aside from that his head was killing him, the fight from earlier had taken more out of him then he thought. Though instead of keeping to the awkward silence at hand he tried to go about his normal mannerism of things. Though he honestly had no questions for her even though his mind had a million of them going through his head. "heh.. am I that worse for wear you were going to say you didn't know me. It had been a while hasn't it" truth be told he wanted nothing more then to just hold her after being gone for five years he still wasn't free from his emotions. But he wasn't going to do such a stunt not when she had kids, and surely the... wait why did the girl say they only had a mother earlier. Either way he wasn't going to over step boundaries and she probably didn't feel the same way not now. Though hearing the comment from the little girl he half had a mind to say yes and leave it at that, cause in truth he felt like he shouldn't have left. Something about the situation at hand was eating away at him, he just couldn't put his finger on what he was being bothered by or what he should notice but wasn't at the time being. Either way he wasn't going to keep her long, standing here in the middle of the forest at night wasn't the smartest move by any means. But not only that he didn't want to pry into her life nor did he want to bring up old wounds knowing he still couldn't have her or at least not now right? Though he too had heard the reports that the two races of elves were mixing in some areas and it was being accepted... maybe if he had just stayed, but that was a bit late now to think of such things. Really where they were or had been making such a fuss in the middle of the forest he was expecting something to interrupt this little chat going on... Though he'd call that a blessing at this point to get out of this little awkward chat going on, also on the report they had gotten before being sent off to go home they were told that there was two of the creatures causing a bit of havoc ... though their group had only located and killed the one so there should be a second corpse eater (A two-headed scaled beast that survives from eating the flesh of the living and dead alike, though it is more commonly found feasting on the dead masses after a large battle. The creatures natural home is in forests and other darker secluded areas. It stands about 8 feet tall and has the ability to spit a venom that will cause flesh and fur alike to decay, armor is proven to be no protection against the beasts bite.) somewhere in the forest still. his plan was after resting for the night to try and track it down the next day.. |
"It has been quite some time, hasn't it?" she asked and smiled warmly at Rhyldrin. Five years, she thought to herself. I missed you every day and thought of you often. Did you do the same? Judith held herself back for a moment. She wanted to tell Rhyldrin that her children were also his but not in front of Abel or the children either. Sure she would have to eventually tell the children that he was their father but it was better to prepare him for when she told them. This is going to kill me, she though and looked down at her children. I should at least tell him before he goes off. Vaden looked up at his mother and gave her dress another tug. "I'm cold," he whimpered, it seemed as if he were about to cry again. "Can we go home?" he asked. Sophie let out a heavy sigh and rolled her eyes, she didn't want to go home. Judith brought her hand to Vaden's hair and played with it gently. "We will go home soon, don't worry." she said then looked up at Rhyldrin. "You two look tired and hungry," she looked at Abel and smiled. "My home is not too far, I can heat up some food for you and I have a guest room that you can stay in. Don't worry you won't have to share a bed," she laughed quietly then continued. "I also have a bath that you can use. It's too dark for you two to be travelling right now, it would be safer to continue in the morning." Judith wondered if she could find some time to speak to Rhyldrin alone, she would try to hold herself back from telling him until they were. Then she remembered that another creature lived at her home, perhaps they wouldn't really have time to be alone at all. Vrine had grown quite a bit, he was no longer the size of a kitten anymore. He was not the size of a hunting dog but he still acted like a kitten. Vrine was still an attention whore. Judith had to spend a few months teaching him to sleep in his own bed that sat at the end of her own. "Vrine will be happy to see you," she said to Rhyldrin. She wondered how Vrine would react to seeing Rhyldrin in the home. |
He didn't have much to say though he had been trying to put forth a front of acting like his usual self.. it was failing by now. How was he suppose to react to her.. five years was a lot of time things happened and changed it wasn't something that abnormal. He was trying to keep his mind occupied with other things instead of what he wanted to ask her, getting into a conversation of how she was and everything seemed a be none of his business.
He was about to turn down her offer on a place to stay but Abel caught this one faster then he could get the first word out. "Sure we'd love to, i'll be able to get to my home town once it's morning" He said with a polite smile before elbowing Rhyldrin to the side. "besides this keeps you out of the bar" He said slightly under his breath just to avoid the children hearing it. 'tsk.. what are you my mother now?' he hissed to Abel giving up on trying to fight this now. Abel smiled a little at his comments hardly affected by then by how long they had been putting up with the group they had. Returning his attention to Judith he bowed his head to her "Thank you, in advanced I'm sure I'll say it a few more times before I leave" He wasn't like most light elves who seemed a little uppity he was one of the ones raised on the outer city limits in the country side. After they started heading in the direction of Judith's home she started to mention about Vrine, he sort of laughed a little weakly thinking about it "Heh.. I'm sure he'd gotten big from when I was last here." He had to admit he had missed the dragon too it wasn't like he was alone during this whole time but it wasn't the same as having a over sized cat either. Abel looked at Rhyldrin oddly before asking the question "Whats a Vrine.... or shouldn't I ask... then again knowing you I'm not sure you want to know." Rhyldrin never said a word as he grinned a little "You'll find out.. im sure he's hardly grown shy over the years" He almost feared how big the dragon got they were hardly weak creatures ... guessing he'd be about the size of a dog that could easily knock down anyone here as far as a young dragon is concerned. |
"I made some stew earlier, I will heat it up when we get there for you two. I have learned to cook quite well living with these two." it was rather dark in the forest. Too dark for anyone to be out here right now, even in the daytime it wasn't that bright outside. That's why Judith liked it, her house was surrounded by trees and wild life. It was quiet during the day and at night besides the guard that would come by to check up on her. Not many people went in to the forest other than to travel and it was a quick walk to the capital to get whatever she needed and to bring her children to school. Judith sewed for the capital, it had been a talent she discovered when Sophie kept ruining her clothes. She also found some time to teach the children to read and write. Judith's home was a good size to raise a family in. When she stepped inside she was was the living room. It was a big open area with multiple places to sit and a big fire place. Across from the living room was the guest room. Though it was also considered a play room for the children since a majority of the guests who slept over were her children's friends. There was a dog bed in front of the fire place because Vrine enjoyed it's warmth. Some toys were scatted around. Usually wherever Vrine was Vaden was as well, he loved the dragon. Sometimes Judith was catch him trying to play with Vrine in the middle of the night. Vrine would also sometimes be found sleeping in Vaden's bed. There was a long, wide hallway that led to the other areas of the home. At the end on the right was a semi-large kitchen before the kitchen was the bathroom. Across from the kitchen was Judith's room, across from the bathroom was the children's room. It was warm and comfortable in the house. When Judith opened the door Sophie and Vaden ran in immediately and to their rooms. "That's right!" she yelled at them as they ran. "Get into your beds and stay there!" she was about to threaten them jokingly but decided not to, Sophie would probably be smart. She stepped in living the door open for the two men then removed her sweater and hung it on a hook. "I apologize in advance if the guest room is untidy, we also use it as a play room and a majority of the guests who sleep over are my children's friends." Judith wandered down the hall way and in to the kitchen, she began to prepare some food for the two. "Vrine is somewhere, he might be sleeping." |
It was a good sized house to just be in the forest, he had to admit he was impressed. Though he still had no idea of who the children were related to or even how she managed to get this little set up she had here. "Oh no no I'm sure it's fine!" Abel said suddenly as she said sorry if the room was a mess. "It'll be better then sleeping outside heh..." he looked at Rhyldrin who seemed oddly quiet or lost in thoughts "Though im sure he'd disagree with me" Though he still didn't get a reply from him even with that.
Though he was about to quickly be jarred out of his thoughts as a streak suddenly darted through the room and slammed into Rhyldrin and a sudden shriek. Vrine cooed and nuzzled trying to get attention from Rhyldrin though he probably had winded him in the process. "What the hell is that!" Abel stood a little awkward as he took a few steps from where he had been. Rhyldrin finally did get the dragon to calm down before breathing out trying to regain his wind, not expecting that. "That is a dragon pup.... though I see it still acts the same" Vrine was still trying to nuzzle against Rhyldrin's face but he was making him stop to try and calm him down. "Your too big for this you know.." Vrine snorted staying in his lap for the moment. "d... dragon... riight..... you forgot to mention that.." Abel was almost in aw by this, dragons weren't common let alone one that had managed to get this size. "Is there anything else I should be expecting before I let my guard down again? No griffins or anything..." He looked to Judith hoping that she wasn't like Rhyldrin and forgot to mention information. After a few moments he shoved Vrine off of him before standing again, though the dragon hardly left him alone. "I'm going to step out.. just a moment" He needed some air really, the fight from earlier was still working on him, though Vrine followed him outside not willing to leave his side for the time being. Abel watched him before shrugging a little "you don't really have to worry about fixing anything for us, a bed for the night is more then plenty." He didn't mean to really be rude and turn down her offer but truth was he doubted Rhyldrin was in a mood to eat and he wasn't really starved himself. He started to go to the guest room after asking her to make sure of where it was but he stopped a moment "just if your going to be up watch him, he pushes himself more then he should" He gave her a sort of worried smile before returning to his walk to the room. Vrine had curled up at his side calming down a bit by now. Though really he didn't want to be here he knew better then to just go off into the forest not at this time of night. Sure it was nice to know she was doing well all these years but what was he suppose to say to her he couldn't just treat her like he did all the years ago could he? That wouldn't be right or fair not when he wasn't planning to stick around. The night air wasn't helping his mind anything he had hoped it would. |
"Rhyldrin?" Judith had stopped herself from heating up the food when Abel had gone into the guest room. When she heard someone step outside she knew that it was Rhyldrin. Well, she had hoped that it was him and not Sophie again. She stood behind him playing nervously with the strings of her dress unsure if she should sit next to him or not. "You don't look too well." she said softly and placed a hand on his shoulder gently. "Are you alright?" she asked looking down at him. Vrine lifted his head and placed it on Rhyldrin's lap. He looked at up him and cooed for attention. The dragon's tail was flicking back and forth restlessly. "Vrine, you always want attention. You never know when to stop." Judith let out a heavy sigh and decided to sit next to Rhyldrin. She brought a hand to Vrine's head and began to pet him gently. "There's something that I have to tell you, Rhyldrin." she said quietly, Judith felt uneasy. |
He flinched a little when she touched his shoulder, whatever he had on his mind was drawing more of his attention then he thought. "I'm fine.. you worry too much" He said with a slight laugh, though he wasn't fine if he had to fight another one of the creatures they had encountered before getting this far. Maybe his luck would hold out until then he didn't want to tell her there was a side effect to over using energy.
He didn't give into the dragon's cooing as easily as she did though he would if he had kept it up. "Least that hasn't changed" He said sort of absentmindedly, though it was true though so much had changed from when he was last here... he wasn't even sure how to handle all of it. After she sat down and started giving Vrine what he wanted she spoke. Though it wasn't something he wanted to hear really not with how he had been over thinking on everything from when he had first seen her. He could take a good guess of what she was about to tell him though he'd be wrong by a long shot. "well.. out with it. Dragging it on isn't going to make what you have to say any easier and you know i'd rather you just tell me something then for you to beat around the bush." Sure he was being a little blunt but that's what he had told her in the past even as kids he hated it when someone tried to explain things and touched all around the topic but never on it. Something seemed wrong though, he could tell it by the way she was acting now and her voice.. what was she scared of let alone why was it tied to what she had to tell him. He shifted a little to look at her seeing as she didn't speak right away. "you brought it up.. so please just tell me." He sighed a little maybe he had been too harsh on her a moment ago and scared her more. "Whatever it is I promise I'm not going to hate you... I can't, I probably shouldn't even be saying this but I thought about how you were everyday I just hoped that you found whatever you wanted to have a happy life." he sighed again before leaning his head against the wall of the house again. 'I shouldn't have said that...tsk stupid now is not a time to be weak' he scolded at himself knowing he had let his mind get the better of him. "Sorry..." He said before falling silent again, he wasn't sure what he was really sorry for but it was a combination of everything really. |
"I thought about you too," Judith said and continued to pet Vrine. "It was impossible not to think about you." Judith brought her hand away from Vrine's head and the dragon raised his head confused as to why she had stopped so abruptly. "I didn't marry Bryon, I couldn't marry a man that I didn't love." Judith thought that she might as well tell him everyone, why not? "You probably know that because he is married to another woman now. If you haven't heard, he wasn't mad that I didn't give him my hand in marriage." Judith looked over her shoulder making sure that her children weren't ease-dropping. She also didn't want Abel to her. "If you're wondering about the house, well, he built it for me as a gift when I found out that I was expecting. I thought that I was having one child but then I ended up having two." she smiled. "Sophie is a bit of a trouble maker as you can see but Vaden is very timid and quiet. They're really good kids." Judith looked towards the forest, the forest was swaying back and forth as the wind blew. When she looked up the sky was clouded over and dark. She chewed on her lip nervously for a moment before she continued to speak. "I didn't marry," she said to him, her body felt hot as she was getting to the point of this conversation. "I never slept with anyone else." she looked up at Rhyldrin but she was afraid to see his reaction. "Rhyldrin, you're their father." Judith almost forgot to breath as she watched him. |
Really he hadn't heard, sure he heard the tale that the king married but he didn't look into it he had set it out of his mind thinking for sure it was her. But after they crossed here he knew that wasn't the case the king would never send her to live in the forest that much was certain. "Heh.. I didn't know... really I avoided any news from this area if I got the chance to." Sure it seemed a little .. you could say selfish to not want to know what went on in the very area you were raised in but he didn't want to know. Not at the thought he'd see her name somewhere in the reports of the happenings in the area. But he kept most of what he was thinking to himself letting her go on in her speech. It was easy to notice what she had told him about both children right away he had noticed the girl was a little spark even for her age.
Though he was about to question her what happened then if she didn't marry anyone or sleep with anyone. He had a fear maybe she was raped or someone took advantage of her but that was quickly shoved to the side with her next sentence. He was expecting something .. but that wasn't what he was expecting it rather caught him off guard. Though after thinking on it he should have noticed something was different about the children they weren't light elves at least not pure bloods. He almost felt like a idiot he never noticed it until she said something to him just now. He finally did look at her with almost a worried expression as he moved to sit in front of her and put both hands on her shoulders "Why then why didn't you tell me? That was .. that's been five years ago you never sent word or anything." Was it something he had done before he left did he push her away that much when he told her he was leaving... Sure he never planned on having kids but then again all this time he had accepted that he'd never be able to be with her either. His shoulder sank a little as he removed his hands from her shoulders and letting them lazily lay at his sides. "i could have been here at least I would have dropped everything that I was doing in the south to come back here." Sure he could guess why she never sent word, at the time she was expecting the idea of a cross race couple was still on shaky grounds.. but she had dealt with it all alone. Was she scared he's reject her or something if he knew.. He finally looked at her again "when were you going to tell me.. if i never crossed back through here... " He had to ask.. he needed to know did he make a mistake even coming to the area surely if she didn't want him to know she wouldn't have bothered telling him now but why did she wait till now. Did he still end up ruining her life even without being here, was that it had she hated him for the first few years. surely if her parents knew then that wouldn't be something they were proud of. Vrine had moved off of his lap as he sat to the side watching the two, the emotions the dragon was getting from the two seemed to confuse him but it kept him from begging for attention at the least. |
Judith jumped when she felt Rhyldrin take a hold of her shoulders. "I would have told you eventually," her words became more quiet towards the end. To be honest Judith didn't know if she would have ever told Rhyldrin that he was the father of her children. She had no intention of interrupting his training so if she had never ran into him then he probably would have never found out. It had been tough to raise two children on her own but she managed. Judith was thankful that she had two healthy children and a safe home. "I didn't want you to come back, I knew that you were training and that you would come see me if I asked but I didn't want that. I didn't want to be a burden." Judith's parents didn't really like the idea that she had given birth to two half-breeds. It was mostly her father who disliked it, her mother was a bit more open but she still didn't full accept it either. It was difficult for two people who spent their entire lives hating Dark Elves to accept that Dark Elf blood had been mixed with Light Elf blood. Judith had visited them once or twice a week, allowing them to see their grandchildren but when her father began making comments it made her uncomfortable and she refused to return. She had noticed that he gave Vaden much more attention, she heard him complaining about Sophie's red eyes. He couldn't bring himself to look at her. The other's didn't seem to mind, the people who lived in the capital or most travellers. Over the five years Judith had noticed more Dark Elves around the capital, Bryon had also began inviting the queen to their yearly festival to celebrate the day that peace began between the Dark and Light Elves. Eventually after another decade or so it would be even more acceptable, Judith looked forward to those days. Some Light Elves still hated the Dark Elves, but it was mostly elders who did. They had grown up hating Dark Elves and would probably die hating them. "I'm sorry," she said and let out a heavy sigh. Judith didn't really know what to say to Rhyldrin. She felt the overwhelming need to apologize. "I should have told you, I should have gone to you when my belly was the size of the moon," she laughed trying to make things better. "I should have told you when I found out, not five years later." |
She was right really he would have dropped the training to come back to her, he wouldn't have cared though at the same time it might have come in handy one day but still he didn't want her to think that she would have been bothering him by any means. After she had finally stopped stalking again saying sorry and everything to him he sighed before shaking his head and suddenly grabbing her and pulling her close to him. "you'll never be a burden.. I've told you that countless times.. silly"
After a moment he did release her, he wasn't sure he should have done that really what if she didn't want him around if she had dealt with things up until now what if she liked it that way. "You have nothing to be sorry for.. I should be saying sorry I left if i had just stuck around a little longer." He had gotten the feeling she wouldn't have told him if they didn't cross paths, really he couldn't blame her why bother trying to find someone who lived day to day without knowing if they'd make it through the next mission they took. He didn't know how to ask what he was about to but he needed to do it. Really he wasn't sure if he was even cut out for this, his parents had been great as far as he could remember but he didn't live with them long or rather never had the chance to.. what if he wasn't good enough. "So what do you want to do then..." He finally asked her before explaining it a bit further. "If you want me to leave I will." He didn't want to really even if she didn't have kids he didn't want to not again the whole point of him leaving in the first place was to allow her to find a life that she was happy with and that could very well could be without him around he had accepted that. Tat and he wanted to get to the point where he could protect her without nearly killing himself even if it was against all odds he wanted to be able to. Vrine stayed silent as he watched the two of them for a moment the dragon had gotten excited but the emotions from the two seemed to flux again as the dragon watched to see what was going to happen. Really the more Rhyldrin though about it this was unfair to even think he should be allowed to stick around, he wasn't there for the past five years. |
"I don't want you to leave," Judith said and looked at him. She wondered what would make him think that maybe not telling him about her pregnancy had been far worse than she thought. "I never wanted you to leave even five years ago when it still wasn't acceptable for us to be together." she wondered how their life would have been if he had stayed. Would she even have this home? Judith hesitated for a moment then finally spoke again. "You can stay here if you want to, my feelings for you haven't changed. Even if you have been gone for five years they have grown stronger." she had had his children after all. "Please, don't think that I would ever want you to leave. I love you, Rhyldrin." a familiar feeling found it's way to Judith, her stomach felt as if it were knotted. "I've always loved you." Judith jumped when she heard the floor creak behind them. Vaden had came out from his bed and to the front door, he looked at his mother then at Rhyldrin then back to her. "Mommy?" he said quietly, he seemed nervous. Vaden hugged a stuffed bear to his chest. "I had a nightmare." Judith reached out her arms and the boy went in to them. She turned bringing him to sit on her lap and held him close. "There were monsters chasing me!" the boy said, he sounded scared and buried his face in to his mother's warmth. "Don't worry, you can sleep in my bed." she whispered as she ran her fingers through his hair. "It was just a nightmare so don't worry about it. Was Sophie filling your head with scary stories again?" Judith sighed as Vaden nodded. Judith had fallen silent with the new company, it wasn't the right time to tell Vaden that Rhyldrin was his father. She would wait until tomorrow morning, she had hoped that he didn't hear their conversation. Though Vaden wasn't one to ease-drop if he did hear anything it would have been unintentionally. Judith was worried that maybe his sister was up as well ease-dropping, when one woke the other shortly followed. "Is your sister up as well?" she asked Vaden as she continued to gently play with his hair. When he didn't answer her question or move she looked down and saw that he had fallen asleep in her arms. "Poor thing," she said and looked up at Rhyldrin. "He has been having nightmares lately." she smiled at Rhyldrin. |
He listened to her really he was glad that she didn't want him to leave but he had tossed it out as a option knowing it was her choice really. He seemed to think on his answer before speaking though after a moment he figured he had unintentionally become indebted to the king of the light elves during his absence.. he could take a good guess that's who was behind her having a house out here. "I know you didn't.. I didn't really want to leave back then but I thought at the time it was for the best." He doubted his own choice now, if he had stayed.. he would have figured out some way to provide for her even if it meant he'd have risked his life more then he normally did he would have still done it.
He was about to say something but the sudden creak made him fall silent again and probably for the best seeing as it was one of the children. He just sort of listened to the little conversation between the two of them. Really he was still trying to grasp at the fact that he hadn't lost anything even though he had prepared himself for it.. he should have wrote her or something over the years maybe he would have found out sooner or at least he could have put his doubts aside. Once she spoke again when the boy was asleep he thought about what she had said. "only recently?" he seemed to question her, was there a chance the child knew about the creatures in the forest? No that couldn't be it, it was probably just a coincidence. Or least that's what he thought sure it wasn't uncommon for a child to have nightmares... he was probably over thinking once again. He needed to remember he still had something him and Abel had to finish tomorrow morning.. there was still one of the creatures reported running lose in the forest. |
Judith raised an eyebrow when he asked her. "Yes, only recently." she said and looked back down at Vaden. "There have been a few times where he has screamed. It takes a very long time to calm him because I think he's still half asleep when I go to him." she brushed some hair from his face and frowned, she was very worried about him. "He will sit up for a few minutes just screaming, it's horrible. I don't even know why this is happening and he always tells me the same thing. He was being chased by monsters." she looked up at Rhyldrin as if maybe he had an answer for Vaden's nightmares. Vrine lifted his head and let out a high-pitch whine. Judith looked at him and smiled. "Vrine has been acting odd as well, sometimes when I open the door he will just run out on to the porch and stand there. He doesn't even make any noises or move, he just stares out in to the forest." Judith looked at Rhyldrin and let out a sigh. "I know that there are creatures that live in the forest but usually Vrine will just scare them off though I don't know what it is that he's looking for, maybe he hears something that I don't." Judith stood slowly from where she sat, Vrine began to get up himself. "You should rest," she told Rhyldrin, he looked tired and hearing that he was the father of her children probably didn't help. "I would ask if you wanted to sleep in my bed but I have this little one with me tonight and that means Vrine will want to come up on to the bed as well." Vrine cooed as if he knew what Judith was saying. She didn't allow the dragon in to the bed but he became so persistent when Vaden slept with her that she allowed it. "I also don't want your friend to go looking for you." Judith walked quietly to the front door and waited for Rhyldrin to follow when he did she closed the door behind her and locked it. Judith gave Rhyldrin a quick kiss on the cheek then walked to her room. Vrine bumped his head against Rhyldrin's leg then followed Judith. Once in her room Judith climbed in to her bed, she brought Vaden close to her and without a thought Vrine jumped up on to the bed and had claimed his spot. "Don't get comfortable there," she said to him. Vrine snorted then closed his eyes. --- Judith had woken up early to make sure that her two guests were fed. Vrine was sitting beside her waiting for any food to be dropped. He licked his lips watching as Judith cooked bacon. She looked down at him and shook her head. "I fed you, I'm not giving you anything." she said then brought her attention back to cooking. Sophie laughed at Vrine and looked up at her mother. "But look at how cute he is!" she cried and wrapped her arms around Vrine hugging him. "Sophie, please set the table and cut up the fruit." Judith had gone out earlier to get fresh fruit and meat. Sophie sighed heavily and returned to what she had been asked to do. Vaden was still sleeping in her bed, he had woken up again from nightmares and she decided not to bother him until the food was ready. When Judith was done she walked to the guest room and knocked on the door. "I made breakfast," she yelled in a friendly manner. "You can't travel without anything in your stomach so come get some." she added then walked away. Judith then went to her room and woke up Vaden. The boy resisted getting up until his mother mentioned bacon, the boy sprung from the bed and to his seat at the table. Everything was put out neatly, there was beans, bacon, eggs, sausages and hash browns. Judith had also made some juice and had bought milk earlier when she had gone out. "Sophie!" she yelled as she entered the kitchen. Sophie was slipping Vrine a piece of bacon. "Stop giving him things or he will never learn not to beg!" she looked at her daughter annoyed that she did everything that she told her not to. Judith sat next to Sophie and began to fill her plate. "I'm going to have to sit next to you all the time now," she said and looked down at her daughter. "I can't trust you not to do things." Sophie rolled her eyes, she thought that her mother was too controlling. |
He nodded a little though he did notice the look she gave him seeing if he had a answer he didn't at the moment. "it could be that he sense the creatures we were told to get rid of" He left it at that for the moment he didn't need to explain to her what the creatures were they weren't really even living beasts anymore they were twisted forms that necromancers had created ages ago. "I wouldn't worry about it though.. We took care of one today before we hit the forest, there should only be one more in this area and finding it should be fairly easy with a cleric here." He wasn't going to say why that made it easy, she'd probably want to kick Abel out if he told her the things were drawn to holy magic as their opposing force.
He wasn't looking forward to facing another one of the creatures this soon, the first one nearly cause the group of three a problem but with just two now he was a little worried.. and he knew Abel wasn't the strongest support by far. "It'll be taken care of tomorrow, if that's the cause if the appearance of the dark creatures then he shouldn't have anymore nightmares" There was no real proof it was the cause but the two seemed to fit together so maybe it was, though it could just be a over active imagination of a child as well. Really he hadn't thought about even sleeping with her, so it didn't seem to bother him at all. Once he got to the guest bedroom he shut the door behind him with a heavy sigh before he noticed that Abel was awake with the door opening. "something wrong?" Rhyldrin didn't say anything at first but nodded "heh.. just one more right?" Abel thought a moment and said yeah but he questioned him "Is it that bad then? I can go get Jagen if you can't handle it and don't go saying some shit like you can handle it if you can't. What would I tell the circle mages if you died only a few days after we were dismissed." Rhyldrin waved him off before flopping on the other bed, sure Abel could tell there was something else on his mind but he wasn't about to try and pry, Rhlydrin was famous for not talking so prying would get him no where. ~~~~~~~~~~ Abel wasn't long before he walked out and he had half forced Rhyldrin out the door with him. "yeah yeah complain all you want you should be use to mornings by now" Rhyldrin seemed hardly amused, though he did catch Vrine begging for scraps as he glared at the dragon "Now I know I taught you better then that" He scolded it, though his scold seemed to have more affect then Judith's as the dragon hissed at him before walking away from the table and pouting in a corner. He wasn't really trying to be mean to the dragon but it'd never stop otherwise and he knew that from the few years he had it as a hatchling. Abel seemed almost in aw at what Judith had cooked for breakfast as he thanked her again "I hope we're not being a burden on you, I know he's a burden on his own but I don't want to intrude." He had made a gesture towards Rhyldrin who seemed to be watching the window as if he expected something. Abel frowned a little taking notice that his partner seemed to have no intent on eating as he walked over and elbowed him. 'your being a bit rude don't you think.. even if the other one shows up what are you going to do without energy..' Rhyldrin shrugged him off before replying 'well if i eat it's not going to do any good now is it, i'll end up sick form it.' Abel sighed before returning to try and entertain Judith a little before she questioned what they were talking about or what was wrong with Rhyldrin. "Don't mind him, he's just being grumpy, Dark elves eh" He shrugged a little with a slight laugh, though it was easy to tell he was trying to cover up more then just his dislike of the morning. |
"You're not being a burden at all, I enjoy cooking." she said and smiled. Judith began to take some food for her own plate but stopped as she noticed Rhyldrin wasn't coming to the table. "Don't pretend that you're not hungry," she wondered if he thought she was treating him like a child. Though she was only bothering him to eat because she cared. "You need to eat because if you don't then you won't have any energy to do anything." she smiled at Rhyldrin waiting for him to come take a seat but when he didn't move at all she returned to serving herself. "It's alright, you don't have to apologize for anything." "Can I be excused?" Sophie asked, she slammed her glass on the table then looked at her mother waiting for her to say yes. Judith turned her head slowly, giving the girl an unamused look. "Why are you so loud?" she asked. Was I this loud when I was a child? she asked herself. "What if I said no?" Judith said, her eyes still on her daughter. "I would get up anyways." Sophie smiled at her mother. It was true she would and usually Sophie wouldn't even ask to be excused she would finish her meal, take seconds then run outside to play. At least she was trying to behave because she had gotten in trouble last night. "Yes you can be excused and you can play outside but don't go any further than the yard-" Sophie bolted from the table while Judith was still talking. "Young lady you better not go further than the yard!" she yelled at her daughter. Though she wasn't sure if the girl had heard, she was already in the yard. "I'm glad that both of you aren't like that," she said and looked at Vaden. The boy laughed and then continued to eat. When everyone was done Judith began to clean up, she piled the dishes together, preparing them for when she would clean them late. "Can I go outside, too?" Vaden asked his mother, Judith nodded and ruffled his hair playfully. The boy ran outside to join his sister. Judith sighed, taking a moment to herself. Her eyes wandered over the kitchen then she realised something. Where was Vrine? "Where did Vrine go?" she asked aloud. She looked at the two men then around. It was unusual for the dragon not to be near when there were left overs. "I didn't even hear him get up." she mumbled and walked to the back door. Judith swung it open and poked her head out. Vrine was sitting on the porch. Judith thought at first that he was watching the children as they played but then she noticed that his eyes were not following them. "Vrine?" she approached the dragon then placed a hand gently on his head and the dragon let out a hiss, Judith drew back her hand immediately. "What the hell is wrong with you lately?" she asked, Judith looked up and her eyes ran across the trees. What was he looking at? |
Abel sighed a little knowing he couldn't explain why Rhyldrin wasn't eating it was a sort of side affect but he normally ended up being fine in the end of it all. "He'll do what he wants, I wouldn't bother wasting too much of your breath trying to convince him otherwise.. though it seemed like you both knew one another so I'm sure you knew that already" He smiled a little though it wasn't very convincing, he knew why Rhyldrin was watching outside.
Abel was in the process of taking his own plate up with Judith outside, he guessed checking on the odd pet the family here had. Though something caught his attention as he drew back a little before placing the plate down and looking to Rhyldrin. "we need to move.. now" Rhyldrin nodded before moving from his spot almost the same time a loud ear wrenching screech was heard near by the house. Abel stood next to where Judith was and Vrine stood from his spot and growled suddenly as a large creature started making it's way towards this direction, though it was still off about a yard. "Rhyldrin!" Abel yelled but he already noticed the dark elf had bolted past him. "You can't fight it alone!" He called after him before he started to take a step but stopped, the job was to protect any civilians... "damn it..." He looked to Judith before explaining to her what to do "Get your kids and now, we'll take care of this" He started to take off after Rhyldrin but he needed to make sure that the three here was safe so he stayed behind a few feet. The beast noticed it was being targeted as it stopped and hissed suddenly before opening both mouths and unleashing a bombardment of spit balls. Though none of them managed to hit Rhydrin. Abel had finally managed to catch up to him by this point as he breathed heavily. "How the hell do you run like that... you can't fight it not after yesterday.. " He breathed out. "We don't have a choice now do we.. you can't kill it and Jagen's not here.. " He frowned a little before drawing both blades from his back, one he kept to his side while the other he pointed directly at the beast as both blades seemed to instantly burst into flame. "I'm planning on living now make your choice... either you back me up or go make sure that Judith and her children stay safe." Abel sighed before drawing a symbol in the air as a barrier of sorts surrounded both of them then he drew the mace and shield that he had on him. "Well.. i guess we go then heh I know how you are im hardly going to stand in your way." He laughed weakly before yelling after Rhyldrin who had already moved after the barrier was in place, it could take a few hits but that was about it.. but that's all he needed it for. "Your damn insane!" Vrine stayed in front of Judith not that the dragon could do anything if the beast got this far but it was still following the order it was given to protect Judith, and that now included the two children. Abel backed up a bit from the beast knowing that Rhyldrin wasn't going to need much more then what he had already done, and really that was all the support he could give him in this fight without really getting in his way or canceling out whatever his plans were. "calm down little dragon he'll be fine.. I think" he said the last part under his breath though he only spoke after he heard the dragon growling was almost right behind him. About the time Abel had said he'd be ok Rhyldrin ended up misjudging a swipe as the beast slammed him into a tree with it's full force. "Tsk.. stop struggling.. you'll join your master soon" He hissed at the creature, he was talking about the fact there were very few necromancers left and the ones who made these abominations were long gone. Righting himself once again he made sure to watch the tail a bit more then he had the last time, this was easier with three people that was for sure. |
Judith didn't even need to scream at her children to come inside of the house. She leaned down and they ran into her arms for safety. Judith let out a heavy breath when their bodies collided with hers, she wrapped her arms around them tightly then disappeared into the house. "Hide under your beds and don't come out until I come back or one of the others," she whispered to them. Judith kissed both of them on the forehead quickly then hurried them into their room. "Please Sophie, listen to me this time. I wouldn't know what to do if I loss you or your brother." she said, Judith watched for a moment making sure that they hid then she closed their bedroom door behind it. It was an odd feeling that overcame Judith and what she was thinking was a little bit silly. She walked to her room and began to change into something more proper for fighting. She would only trip over herself wearing this damn dress. Judith slipped on a pair of trousers, they hung from her waist. Then she slipped on an almost over-sized blouse. She slipped her feet into a pair of boots and quickly tired them up then grabbed her bow. What am I thinking? she let out a heavy sigh. It's been so long since I used the damn thing. She almost looked at her bow as if it were a foreign object. She wrapped a belt around her waist and hung her pouch of arrows on it. As she stepped outside she tied her hair up into a messy bun. "I'll help as much as I can," she said and smiled at Abel. "I may be a bit rusty but I started training with the bow with I was ten." Judith had continued training for a bit but after she had Sophie and Vaden she stopped. She had used it a few times for fun afterwards but she had not trained seriously for five years. Judith stepped down from the porch and examined the creature. She had seen other things in the forest before but nothing quite like this. "What is that thing?" she asked and looked back at Abel. |
