The High Vampirical Council then decides to increase the pull of a possible life bond to increase the chance of one finding a life mate. A newling vampire had been unable to find his mate. He feels no call towards anyone. Untill he meets a boy on a hunt and feels the pull of a mating bond right away. Problem one, the guy is a vampire hunter, problem two the boy is human, and problem three he is male. Male vampires are supposed to mate with female vampires. if not ignore this post

Well, something I've been rolling around my head for a while, it goes a little something like this:
Classic opposing clans (original, I know) are using a marriage (boyXboy, they're vampires, they don't care) to cement their relations and avoid war. The two don't really care for each other, but must get used to it. Part of the clause in their marriage is that they must be faithful to each other, but vampire boi from clan A loves a different vampire boi from clan B, not the boi he's married to. This could incite a war between the clan, especially by elders who did not approve of the marriage in the first place.
Is that too...derp?

though why do the clan leaders go against it if it's for the good of all that they unionize the two tribes?

The elders don't approve because it's a homosexual union, which they dislike, and because the elders of each clan wanted to wipe the other clan out, rather than merging with them.

The faithful guy is for his clan, and intends to stay faithful because he wants this to succeed.

I think even being with the other guy (sitting next to) is bad.

so the faithful guy is trying for the sake of diplomacy and stability, good reason though very much in the way of self sacrificing(and i guess that is a sign that it'd be my guy haha) it'd lead to good twists later if mine has to keep things hush-hush from others or if we have to defend this from the clan leaders

Oh, okay. I just love unions that are challenged by sexuality, because it makes for great tension in dialogue and such things. Green, lol.

I personally would probably play the unfaithful guy because I tend to do characters like that - the ones who refuse to do what they're told, lol.

Any tweaks and such you'd like to add, I'm open too, if you don't like something or want to add something tell me.

I think the power would be divvied by current clan leaders, elders who are old and stuff (hence the name 'elders') but still have a great amount of influence, and then those under them: the nobility and such, I'd say. Clan leaders would be nobility as well, but elevated, as they, um, lead and stuff. o_O Vampire hierarchy tends to differ between who I'm RPing with, so I usually adapt to what the other likes.

Checks and balances - I like that idea. Not to mention kudos to you for knowing that.

The Elders can influence the Clan leaders and those under them, the Clan leaders can overrule Elders and those under them, the underlings have some very soft form of democratic representation between them - they elect representatives to convey their messages to Clan leaders and argue their cases. The representatives should have some sort of sway over others - perhaps their vote to declare war/arrange marriages, etc.

That sounds good. Fairly similar to the Senate. Balances the distribution of power.
