Etsy's a great place!
.... When you find quality goods for the right price that is. SERIOUSLY? A jar with a fairy in it for 17 bucks plus tax that is the size of 1/4 of a pencil!? I can get that for 1 dollar at any anime convention without even having to pay for a pass to get in. >.>... |
Illu, try a crochet hat for 10k
I can't wrap my head around all the insane pricing people do. |
They must be using some extra fancy wool from fairy sheep for a hat at that price. Crochet takes a while though, unless you're my stepsister and can do it in your sleep.
Ugh. Don't want to think about halloween yet. My brain is already fretting about Christmas and the money I *don't* have for it. People might be getting handmade gifts again. I think I'm going to go lazy on a halloween costume again. Red shirt, red pants, and some manner of green hat with a stem and be a chili pepper. Job done. |
I've been vaguely thinking about setting up an Etsy to sell some crochet animals but I have no idea how successful I'd be... if it'd even be worth it... I sold like five octopi at a con last spring for $10 apiece and probably could have sold more if I'd had more...
|
I had issues with crochet. Never really got past one line string. I can sorta knit though, but I'm not fancy enough to actually make things that require shape and such yet. And yarn is expensive.
|
...it is? Then again with animals you want to use cheap yarn that isn't too soft, heh.
|
Well, my sister makes afghans and such with croquet, so she goes through a lot. My aunt knits everything out of baby wool a lot of the time, which isn't always cheap, even at WalMart.
I used to make peg dolls, which were easy enough since I could get away with fabric ends and ribbon scraps and such. I don't think those would sell terribly well though, as much as people did like them. I made on of my sister in her dog show outfit and that she still has (the doll, not the outfit). |
Ah, yeah, animals don't generally cost much (especially since I make mostly small cute ones). Probably only a few bucks apiece, but they take hours to do, which makes pricing tricky.
|
I usually play it by ear, with parties and such. This year though I am making a witch outfit for one of my dolls. I have been drinking Starbucks Pumpkin Spice with Caramel layered sides. I may go to one party after handing out some goodie bags to the kids. ^-^

The joys of labour costs...Depends on how much you feel your time is worth I suppose. Really, anything beyond material cost can be considered profit unless the work stops you from doing anything else that might be beneficial to you. Maybe consider a minimum hourly wage as a base and work from there to something you are comfortable with.
|
I trick or treat with my son. I dunno if that really counts though.
|
I'll be working in my costume but after that I don't know, probably go trick or treating around a university campus
|
Thinking of going trick or treating with my son. Our church is doing a trunk n treat thing this year as well so thinking of joining that as well.
|
I just set up a small halloween table next to my chair x3 once i got the candy corn in my candy dish i HAD to put my little gourds to use <3

I LOVE HALLOWEEN |
I'm going to be a zombie from plants vs. zombies for Halloween!
|
I expect pictures.
That is all. |
I don't.
I celebrate Samhain. o3o |
I still dress up and depending on the day ect halloween Is on I do go out trick or treating Normally with my nieces and nephew so we can all go together since they like It that way. My aunt likes to put up Decorations. I love Halloween. I am going as a dark angel. I cant wait :)
|
I throw on a hat or ears or something. I lost my kitty stand-by costume so I got a new one, but I also have a cow hat that doubles as a viking helmet if you ignore the cow face. I also have a poodle skirt 50's get-up and a toga, but I don't much feel like wearing those.
Still planning on just wearing red and putting something green and leafy on my head and going as a chili pepper. I could do that here with the earth spirit RIG item. ;) |
My house complex usually throws a HUGE halloween bash. 70-ish people show up in costume. It's intense. I was going to be Hooker Snow White, but since I found out I am pregnant, I have to change it up.
Now I'm going to be Pregnant Hooker Snow White. Complete with pillow shoved in dress. XD |
Got my costume. I'm wearing my niece's butterfly fairy headband she's getting rid of. I may even take the bother to glue a replacement jewel on it.
Can you tell I'm not as enthusiastic about this holiday as I used to be? |
Halloween is Amazing, Ive already been to a party and won a Costume contest! But the best day ever...Is Nov First.
Everything on clearance. <3 That is when I stock up. Normally on Cups. I have a weird Fascination with cups... |
My apartment complex is holding a party, i'll be going as a jrocker ouo
|
So... so many halloween raves. Omg. ;~; I'm so exhausted.
|
My niece is having her birthday party tomorrow, so we've got Halloween decorations everywhere, and some mylar balloons. No orange though. My sister in law decreed no orange because everything Halloween is orange. Went with purple, silver, black, and light green instead. Looks nice. :)
|
Had a really fun party at a friend's yesterday = ) Dressed up as my D&D bard, complete with a "harp" I made out of cardboard and yarn XD Didn't drink a lot, but stayed up super late playing games and chatting with people I don't see very often.
I have to work 2-9 on Halloween itself, turns out = ( But I'm going to attempt to come up with a pirate costume I can make work-friendly, and after work I'm going to a NaNoWriMo kickoff party in costume which should be fun. |
HALLOWEEN IS NEVER OVER!
