Interesting.... And what does a member of the military police do?

Tiva 05-31-2012 09:02 PM

According to my brother (Infantry Attack Dog handler) Be a jack ass....

Arikana 05-31-2012 09:02 PM

o.o
Really? Military police people are jack asses? D:

Alpha 05-31-2012 09:03 PM

For the Guard, not nearly the same job as for the Active military. Suffice to say it's not what I'll want to be doing should I be able to get a commission once I graduate college.

Ashy 05-31-2012 09:38 PM

people dont like the military police because they enforce rules :P

Arikana 05-31-2012 09:39 PM

Wait, is there a difference between military police and regular police? o.o

Ashy 05-31-2012 09:40 PM

im pretty sure military police deal only with the military, we call it something different here so it may be different in america

Alpha 05-31-2012 09:43 PM

Essentially, Ashy is right. The Military Police only deal with violations of the law on military installations and in military matters.

Tiva 05-31-2012 09:47 PM

Hence the nickname jack asses. Because most people don't like cops, add in military training and they are less liked.

Arikana 05-31-2012 09:48 PM

I am so lost. I'm gonna Google/Wiki on whether or not the equivalent up here in Canada is the RCMP or something else.

Alpha 05-31-2012 09:49 PM

Yeah. The only catch is that my job description being with the National Guard is actually different than that of active duty MPs.

Arikana 05-31-2012 09:54 PM

So what is your job description as a member of the national guard?

Alpha 05-31-2012 09:56 PM

Well, basically my training is so that in a combat situation I can take over any role of other combat members of the unit with little to no problem. I learn the police work stuff, just don't have to do it unless specifically called to do it. Not a part of my normal "job".

Cheshiresneer 05-31-2012 10:20 PM

Looks like I've joined just in time!! <3 <3

Ahh...so kind of like a 'utility' person who knows how to do everything this way they can do whatever the situation calls for, right?
