Also, I noticed green is mentioned twice in the raven's corner and red isn't mentioned.

Oh, and thanks for the information. No wonder it is said that it is too heavy for the bedroom :p.

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 07:14 PM

Done right it can be fine, you just have to counter it well. Like light-wood furniture, pine or oak usually, makes it feel warm rather than overpowering, and cream accents tone it down too. Plus if you add a contrasting, cooler colour in somewhere (green or blue) like in a picture on the wall, it tones it down again.

Green twice . . . o.o i'm not sure if red was up or not when Tai-chan created Raven's Corner but i'll check that bit out now. Thanks for mentioning it.

Edit: you might have caught the word green in the money spell or the peridot info, or else the thread's glitchin somehow :D

Red will be in there soon, i've posted it a page or two before now, and it will be in the corner soon with the others. Don't worry, you were right to bring it up. Better to ask than not. :D

Sunako 05-20-2011 07:21 PM

Yeah thats true about the red in the bedroom then. XD My room is mostly blue and black lol.

ah is that happened? fair enough.

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 07:26 PM

Magnolia. Going red as soon as i get my own house :D My dream bedroom; not allowed to paint this one because my parents will be selling it soon and red can be hard to paint over.

Sunako 05-20-2011 07:29 PM

Oh that sounds cool raven :)

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 07:32 PM

Yep, so gonna happen. :D

Blue and black is a nice combination; most go for black and pink or purple. Bet it looks awesome.

Sunako 05-20-2011 07:33 PM

Well, my walls are painted blue. But, I have alot of black eh toys everywhere. :p It's pretty nice. :)

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 07:46 PM

Awesome. My rooms just random, with this great big blue trunk with all my witchy stuff inside taking up most of the space :D

Sunako 05-20-2011 07:49 PM

I don't have any witchy stuff unfortunately because I don't cast spells. I only use oracle cards every once in awhile but I do love pagan stuff though.

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 07:57 PM

It started off as one or two books and some crystals, now it's just grown into a massive collection of all sorts; herbs, crystals, books, candles, a little bit of everything really.

I was lucky; my nan, Goddess rest her, completely supported me in my chosen path and helped me learn the very basics without my knowing.

Sunako 05-20-2011 07:59 PM

Ah that's good then. My family is against it, but they don't mind the oracle cards as much.

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 08:02 PM

Most of my family is fine, they even boast about it, which gets quite funny. One or two don't, both my aunt and my youngest uncle on my dad's side think i'm nuts; when my cousin said she wanted to be a witch like me my aunt went beserk!

I found it funny. Bad me again :D

Sunako 05-20-2011 08:03 PM

Awww that's kinda amusing. My 11 year old cousin wants to be "goth" kinda like the things I'm into, which is amusing. So, I took her to a few goth stores.

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 08:13 PM

My cousin did the same, because i was gothic at the time. Still can be, just not as often, usually when i'm going out.

I can't find my malachite bracelet! :(

Sunako 05-20-2011 08:16 PM

Oh okay, yeah I wouldn't call myself a goth though even though I sorta fit the stereotype.

What is malachite?

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 08:20 PM

A form of copper ore, a green stone with black bands, easily recognisable once you know what it looks like. properties are transformation and change, fortune, etc. . . .

it's become rarer now; the price of anything malachite used to be cheap and it's now gone up quite a bit. I'll see if i can get a decent picture . . .

Sunako 05-20-2011 08:28 PM

Oooh wow, that's beautiful. I have a rose quartz bracelet in my room somewhere. It's great.

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 08:31 PM

yeah, i love it to bits and it's missing. T T

oh . . . wait . . . found it :D

Sunako 05-20-2011 08:32 PM

Yay, that's great that you found it. :)

Oooh, I have a idea next. How about the properties of crystal and what they mean...or links to websites that have crystal meanings.

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 08:37 PM

Yep. I have some . . . qute a few really, in my Book of Shadows, but a website would be easier, i'll have a look for a good one. You too; different ones would be good, different opinions and all that.

I do have one for incense recipies that i like :D

Sunako 05-20-2011 08:38 PM

Ah that's awesome. :) I love rose quartz, they are great crystals and so safe too.

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 08:41 PM

Rose Quartz is all about compassion and love in all its forms. A great healer too, especially emotional healing.

Sunako 05-20-2011 08:44 PM

Yeah, that's why I wear it sometimes especially when I'm depressed. I find it helps a fair bit.

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 08:57 PM

Another good one is Citrine (especially HTA Citrine or Heat Treated Amehtyst; if you heat amethyst it turns yellow) it's nicknamed the sunshine stone and is great for lifting depression, overcoming fears and instilling confidence

Sunako 05-20-2011 09:05 PM

Ah, I'll see if I can find it in bracelet form or something like that. Because I'm a big fan of jewellery.

Gallowsraven 05-20-2011 09:06 PM

I'm not sure if it's used or not, be interesting to find. I don't see it often in jewellery but it's pretty.

Working in a Pagan and Gifts shop really gets these things into your brain :D

Lunaryon 05-21-2011 08:36 AM

Sooo... Various different stones have effects on the mind? Thats kind of cool.

Batty 05-21-2011 10:17 AM

Raven, you lucky duck. I wanna work at a metaphysical shop. ><;

Luna;; Different Gems and Crystals all have different properties. Such as Tigers Eye. Its magickal properties include warding off unwanted energy, its healing properties soothe the body and the mind, as well as help along to release congestion.

Gallowsraven 05-21-2011 11:36 AM

Tiger's Eye is another confidence booster, especially the golden variety. Hawk's Eye, which is the combination of all three types of tiger's eye (red, blue and golden) is stronger and more potent.

But Batty's right, and the funny thing is, it often relates to their colour as well as their physical make-up. For example, Tiger Iron (the form of tiger's eye without the shimmery-sheen) contains, predictably, iron, so one of its properties is stability. It's also a mixtre of colours, most common are red-brown and yellow. Both of these augur stability in various forms.

Some good ones to know are clear quartz - the "master" crystal, can be used as a substitute for any other, and is especially good for cleansing and healing; amethyst - primarily peace and rest, but also dreams and healing; citrine - see above; obsidian - especially good at protection, the snowflake variety also promotes harmony between opposites; and rose quartz - again, see above.

Anybody interested in crystals for their metaphysical properties (or even if you're just ineterested in collecting them) i recommend starting off with these. There are others too, but new crystals are being discovered almost every month, if not every day. some are so rare they are almost extinct, like moldavite (a tektite; it's an extra-terrestrial stone!) some are as common as clouds, like quartz.

Now i'm curious, has anybody else found their crystl-kryptonite, as i call it. It's a stone that you just don't get along with; makes you feel ill/grouchy/etc. Mine's Elestial Quartz (natural super-charged smokey quartz), place it near me and i get a strong headache for no reason. I do own a piece, but that's because it's nice to me (the amethyst and tanzanite within it helps too ;) )

And i was lucky, Batty, 'til things got bad. The owner was a . . . well let's just say he was a two-faced hypocrite because i'm not sure how badly i'm allowed to swear. You don't treat volunteers the way he did; we're not willing slaves. Only so much i can take, i threatened to walk before when he treated me like crap, he didn't listen, i walked.

But its so satisfying, even if this is a bad thing, that he still didn't listen when i told him getting rid of the pagan part of the shop would be bad for business. Guess what; he's closing down. I was right; nobody wanted to buy anything in there because there was nothing interesting.

Ok, mini-rant/gloat type-thing is over, however bad it is i feel satisfied by it. It's not that i'm happy he's closing, just that he kept disregarding my opinion as not important and saying i was wrong and i've been proven right.

It;s still bad isn't it lol. This is why if anyone asks i call myself a grey witch.

Lunaryon 05-21-2011 07:36 PM

Well... He got his. That's all I can say.

Gallowsraven 05-22-2011 10:47 AM

Yeah, still, didn't think he'd go out this soon.

Oh well, enough dwelling. Midsummer Solstice coming up soon!!! ^.^ roll on next month!

Lunaryon 05-22-2011 12:29 PM

When is the summer solstace?

Gallowsraven 05-22-2011 06:48 PM

21st June, the longest day of the year. I'm heading up to a big hill near my home for a picnic and walk with some friends :D

Batty 05-22-2011 06:51 PM

I'll probably be doing much of the same, except, without friends. xDD; And every year, I make bright colored tye dye shirts and such. <3

Gallowsraven 05-22-2011 07:00 PM

^.^

I make spells; this is usually when non-pagan/witchy friends ask for help with things. Usually a summer romance. They all understand when i tell them i'll only do it generally to draw love into their lives and to expect the unexpected or for it to not work right that season.

Kenly 05-22-2011 07:46 PM

this is so cool. i'm glad to find a pagan area here. i've just started learning about Gardnerian Wicca. i'm excited to learn, and eager to do so. it's always nice meeting other pagans/wiccan.

Lunaryon 05-23-2011 12:36 AM

Hello, and welcome Kenly. Whats Gardnerian Wicca?

Sunako 05-23-2011 01:54 AM

Hey everyone, I have arrived.

Kenly 05-23-2011 03:06 AM

i guess the best way to describe it without going all academic on you is 'traditional' wicca?

Sunako 05-23-2011 03:12 AM

Kenly: Ah awesome :). That's cool :)
