MOST of the gifting was actual presents stuff though. Except the collapsible photo box thingy. And the movies and lip balms, though I consider the balms product testing as well as gifts, since being a balm addict I have a pretty good sense of good balm qualities.

Damies 11-16-2017 03:20 AM

Sorry, distracted...

making packets!

Also wondering how to blow my piddly paycheck.... while keeping enough to last until the 1st....

Damies 11-16-2017 11:41 AM

Lotion seems to be stable! 8D

Also got a box to ship out all ready. ;D

Just finished taking pictures of some products and am gonna list them now 8D

Just got more aloe juice for the lotions and I am pissed at how hard it was to find. xD

Also may try making grapefruit scented foot bombs. 8D

Den 11-16-2017 08:27 PM

So mom is gonna get rice for the microwaveable heating pads I'm making to give as gifts... I still need to get bias tape for my apron.

Damies 11-17-2017 07:45 PM

My allergies are going WILD. -sneezes furiously-

@Den: If you made bias tape you could have any pattern ever! But I can see the ease in just buying it. Making stuff to make stuff can be annoying. xD

Kaderin Triste 11-17-2017 08:43 PM

I've not actually checked how they work, but we do sell tools at Joann for making your own bias tape.
Would be interesting to look into one day.
Also, I can't decide if I actually want to do a full apron or just a half apron. Half apron would probably be easier, but full one is prettier...

Den 11-17-2017 10:40 PM

So I got some stuff done...

Kaderin Triste 11-18-2017 01:43 AM

I spy a long cat!
Cute!

Also, I decided to do a half apron, but discovered that I actually need to buy fabric for the trim pieces because fat quarters are too small for a couple of them. XP
So apron is on hold until Sunday afternoon...
And I also need to check the tension on my sewing machine. I suspect it's off just a little still.

Damies 11-18-2017 02:02 AM

Den, is that a neck pillow, or one of the warmer things you mentioned?

Tension is fickle. Different fabrics do better with different tensions.

Kaderin Triste 11-18-2017 02:07 AM

WHY CAN'T MY MACHINE BE MAGIC AND JUST ADJUST ON IT'S OWN?!
T_T

But I am still learning. I'll do like I vaguely remember doing in junior high and use a different bobbin color from the top thread so it's easier to see if there's a tension issue.

it's one of the warmers. It's for the sibling and his wife.

Kaderin Triste 11-18-2017 09:06 PM

Welp, totally did nothing that I planned to do, sewing-wise today. Which wasn't actually much. Mainly just checking my thread tension and MAYBE hemming the main apron part per the pattern since I still need to buy maybe 1/2 a yard for the trim pieces.
Did get started on one of the 2 foxes I still need to make and worked a little more on my mermaid blanket, which I really want to finish by the end of the month, if I can...
And I remembered to pick up some bulky weight black yarn for the fox before my shift at work so I can actually work on the fox this week and hopefully get it done very soon.
My next task will be getting all my eyes found and organized...

Den 11-18-2017 11:55 PM

So I went to a thing and did a thing...

KittyBeary 11-19-2017 05:09 AM

I'm getting more fat quarters for more aprons next week. Yay. ;u;

Damies 11-19-2017 07:35 PM

Spent all day playing games so far cuz yesterday sucked kinda. 8'D

Kaderin Triste 11-19-2017 09:29 PM

I bought some giant knitting needles that would also double as stakes for slaying vampires today...

Damies 11-19-2017 10:01 PM

So they are wooden not plastic? 8D

Gonna try planning a book binding project today.

Den 11-19-2017 10:05 PM

I got the apron pieces all cut out. Found bias tape that matches the accent color I had chosen (turns out the bias tape is made by the same company that made the fat quarter I chose for the accent, so it matches perfectly), and thread to match to the bias tape and accent pieces. I still need to iron and sew, but progress has been made!

Definitely wooden, yes. They are cherry wood, size US 50/25mm.

Den 11-19-2017 10:32 PM

Ah, yes, the infamous Stabbey Stabbey needles. I think every knitter has encountered those at least once and had that same thought.

Kaderin Triste 11-19-2017 10:50 PM

Lol. 25mm wooden knitting needles...for the crafty slayer.

Den 11-19-2017 10:55 PM

hang on. I actually know of a pattern for an anatomically correct knitted heart.

Edit: Found it!

Kaderin Triste 11-19-2017 11:07 PM

Lol. If I only I actually knew how to knit...
XD
I am very slowly learning.

Damies 11-20-2017 01:40 PM

Congrats on progress, Den!

Did you get big needles to learn on, with a project in mind, Kaderin?

I uh... never planned the book I was gonna do.... played more games instead ; n;

Kaderin Triste 11-20-2017 02:00 PM

In theory, I figured they'd be easier to learn on. But no real project in mind.

I mean, with the fuzzy, chunky yarn I'm using, my practice piece will probably be a thick scarf? I did 2 rows last night. Took forever to remember how to do the long tail cast on, and it was not easy finding a knit tutorial that had good images, but wasn't a video. But it's slowly coming back to me. I did self-teach myself to knit about 9-10ish years ago, but gave it up when I discovered looms. I hadn't actually made anything other than some mismatched fuzzy leg warmers anyway. But I want to learn needle knitting and crocheting because there are more patterns for those than for looming currently and I would like to actually try some intricate shawls or cardigans eventually. More intricate than currently exists on looms anyway. (Although there are some awesome people out there who are making and converting patterns for looms, which is cool.)

Damies 11-20-2017 09:26 PM

My mom could teach you crochet! Except for that pesky distance junk....

We are having a cold snap and I just wanna sleep in my warm bed all day. ; n;

Kaderin Triste 11-21-2017 03:55 AM

Damn you not living here! *shakes fist*

trystan830 11-21-2017 11:36 AM

*wonders if i'm any closer in southeastern PA*

i could teach you to crochet too! =)

Kaderin Triste 11-21-2017 02:34 PM

Nope. You're definitely farther
XD
Damies is 2 states away, you're across the country.

trystan830 11-21-2017 02:41 PM

oh. well, pooh. :S

Kaderin Triste 11-21-2017 02:42 PM

Yeah.
Lol, as far as I can tell, Glitch is probably the user who lives closest to me out of everyone.

trystan830 11-21-2017 03:31 PM

well that part's pretty cool though!

Damies 11-21-2017 07:39 PM

-hacks up a lung-
Why I so wheezy today? ; n;

I got some "polished hemp" (fairly cheap) to try using for book binding.Hopefully it goes well compared to last night. ; n;

Den 11-21-2017 08:21 PM

Have I mentioned how much I hate pinning fabric? 'cause I fucking hate pinning fabric.

Damies 11-21-2017 09:28 PM

Oh man I hate pinning stuff too, if I can avoid it I do. x nx

My hunt for fabric quarters went quite well.

I especially love the unicorn print. ;_; Kinda wish I got more of that one but oh well. Whenever I go back I'll be sure to grab more. XD

Den 11-23-2017 11:55 AM
